1.
That is hilarious! In all seriousness though I would say the best ever would be Spencer George
In my opinion, Anthony Semien was our best tailback.
2. I couldn't agree more Randy.  I rarely visit this site because of all the negativity and bickering.  I would rather focus my energy on more positive things.  We should support our kids, coaches, teachers, and everyone in our community no matter who they are or where they're from.  We are ALL Longhorns!  Just like our school song says, "All for one, one for all"! Bobby Mott
3. The past culture and success of HF football during the Tarver era took years to develop.  During those years, the coaches and the system were the same.  That continuity and patience allowed the development to run it's course.  I see the community support returning more every day.  It's going to take time, patience, and continuity for the culture to fully return.  Give the man time to do his job. P.S.  As I recall, Tarver wasn't the most popular man in town.  There were similar controversies back then, but he was given the time to build a program.
4. Coach Harris will be welcomed by the community and will receive our full support.  The school board, however, has lost credibility with the community.
5. This thread is full of inaccurate information and assumptions.  To summarize, the issue is that the selection committee presented three applicants to the board (Harris, Cary, and Dale), and two individuals rejected Dale.  Not the board or the committee.  Is it right that two individuals make this decision against the rest of the committee?  This isn't about people not getting their way.  It's about a corrupt administration lying to the community it represents.
6. 1993 Bi-District Playoffs - HF vs. SFA The moment Sean Donaho scored the winning touchdown against a state ranked SFA team that said HF "couldn't hang with them".

Billy Tilton may have been brought in by Mangan, but he was at HF under Tarver in the 1990's.  When he left for Deweyville, many on campus and in the community wanted him to be the AD/HC and give Tarver the boot.  Everybody knew what we were losing.  Now he is back, and I think he would be an excellent choice to restore the winning tradition at HF.
you are so right with this statment he is a great coah and will get the kids and young men were they need to be
He's an excellent coach, an excellent teacher, and one hell of a good man.  He knows how it used to be, and has what it takes to get it back.  Nobody on that list understands the history and tradition of the school better than he does.  He would be very well accepted by the students and the community.

9. The disappearance of the Longhorn decal was a copyright issue of some sort with UT from what Ive heard. The decal used today is slightly modified.
10. Definitely bring the gold helmet back.  HF has always had either gold or white helmets, never blue.  I just think its a tradition thing.  We have had many different color combinations throughout the years and even the "Longhorns" on the back of the jerseys isn't new.  They did that in the early '80s.  My personal opinion is:  gold helmets, gold pants, blue jerseys at home, and white jerseys on the road.
11. I agree. Those new unis are terrible. HF has never had blue helmets to the best of my knowledge.
12. 1993 HF vs SFA bi-district playoff The Horns knocked off a state-ranked SFA team that they supposedly "couldn't hang with".
13. My dad was a coach at H-F that year....he still talks about that game. Wasn't that LaGrange that beat HF and went on to win state? I think Eric Dickerson and Sealy was a little later. I think your right. Maybe a year or so later was Sealy. The game I'm talking about was HF played like 2 games at Tully and they stole our coach and QB. Spring Branch Memorial made a pretty good playoff run that year with the 2 Koenings. They played Cameron and LaGrange at Tully. I think they played Columbus at Cy-Fair before that. Then Memorial took Les & Les. Because of the generation gap, I would have to disagree. The 1990 team didn't go as far in the playoffs, but they did post the third highest point total in 3A history at the time. They get my vote.
