I’m still here just learned not to say to much on here. If your a fan of a team in Baytown it’s hard to support when you have a new head coach every two years and don’t have a true feeder pattern so it’s impossible to build a middle school-high school program. Add in all our best players playing at Crosby, North Shore, la Porte, deer park. It’s tough. I’m a loyal fan I still support Sterling financially and by attending games, and want them to do good.

I have my own selfish reasons for wanting United and either Channelview or Deer Park to be in the top 4. That region 3 D1 is a gauntlet. I'm hoping the Bruins get to avoid it.

With the defense we put on the field each week, we will be one and done, regardless of which division we're in.

We make it into D2, the Bruins will have their best chance to make it out the region in years.

Phone tripping.  You going watch Brook tonight or are you coming scout for your coaches?

Its first week of district action:

North Shore 55 @ Laporte 0

West Brook 56 @ C.E. King 7

Sterling 0 @ United 45

Deer Park 27 @  Channelview 36

These 2 surprised me.  I picked West Brook to win, just didn't figure the Panthers would only score 7 at home.  I don't think anyone except the people from Channelview picked them to beat Deer Park.

They are running the flexbone. Its very similar to Vidor's slot t offense. You're not going to trick the Bruin defense with that. United shouldn't have any problems beating King.

So King went from a spread when they beat Central 2 years in a row to a flexbone?  Ok.  We will thank the Bruins and North Shore for the video footage on how to play it.

The Bruin defense held a CE King that was averaging 39 points a game to 7.  And after last nights game, in 4 games, the Bruin defense is allowing 19 points a game which in most cases should equate to a W for y'all in most games.

Yep they have given up 0 55 14 7. Other than Strake Jesuit, the Bruin defense has played well.

United surprised me for sure.  I though RSS would be more competitive.  The United D line manhandled our O line.  Our special teams were horrible.  The one punt returned for a TD where no one downed the ball even though it was bouncing back toward us should not have happened.  The other punt return was very similar.  The kick off returned for TD was poorly executed and everyone collapsed leaving wide open running.

Our offense is going to struggle as long as there is not a threat of a passing game.  If opposing defenses only have to key on Hill with the linebackers and let the rest of the team worry about Hawkins pulling and running then it makes for a long day for our defense.  RSS did put one drive together when 3rd team QB went in and connected on several passes.  I believe that one drive was more than the rest of the game combined.  If we can keep defenses from keying on Hill only then we can be a bit more competitive.

Our defense was on the field way too long and not enough depth.  Our D line is respectable.  Our secondary wound up getting burned trying to play the run and then giving up passing yardage.  I thought United did an excellent job in the red zone.  Too many weapons...running and passing.  United QB played well and made plays.

That's a fair analysis.  I think they should give the 3rd string QB the start because he seemed like the best passer and use the other 2 guys as skilled position kids in other spots.  You are correct, the Rangers had more yardage on that one drive then the rest of the entire game.

Soulja and JagMarine, here is another assessment...

    • No doubt. It's definitely intriguing enough to watch how this all plays out...
    • We all know that each state has its own laws which can be very different, especially in endeavors like annexation or incorporation, so there is no telling what Louisiana law says. I don’t know but I doubt that there is a point of appeal for Baton Rouge to force St. George to be absorbed back into Baton Rouge by now giving them what they asked for years ago. “Oh, we lost? Well let’s just undo incorporation, ruled as legal by the Supreme Court (of LA)  by going back and giving them what they asked for”. There has to be a law allowing such an appeal. I think what I read about the lower court decisions which actually backed up Baton Rouge, they did not all rule that incorporation was illegal but that they did not think the city could have services up and running soon enough. So you have a court saying that sure you can split but only if we agree that you can provide services get enough. In Louisiana, who knows? I doubt that Texas has such a mechanism to allow a city to split, for example, could the west end of Beaumont say that they wish to make their own city against Beaumont’s objection? I doubt it. Certainly Beaumont could allow a city to be created as Port Arthur did with Bridge City and Taylor’s Landing. There is a huge difference in allowing and forcing which is what happened in Baton Rouge. Similar to the sometime discussed topic of Texas splitting off from the United States because they don’t like the way things are going, think if citizens in any city in the United States were allowed to create their own city, which could not be stopped by the parent city.  That could get interesting!! Don't like what is happening in the south side of Chicago? Just de-annex and create your own city!! Anyway, I thought that it is an interesting story when the capital city splits in half.
    • Wasn't that 1st round loss last year? Also, during those previous 10 years I am pretty sure Jasper didn't go 2-58 in district play in the other 5 sports.
    • Ma'am, I don't think he said all Muslims were like that. If I'm reading this right, he's referencing the terrorist Muslims. You know, the ones who commit murder & have no regard for anyone who doesn't follow their jihadist beliefs...
    • Great playoff run, no doubt.  They did make the 3rd round(1 less) 4 of the previous 10 years, only one first round loss. 6 district championships and 4 second place.  The only 4 years Carthage was in the same district. So no, I'm not sure it does make sense.
