The Newton Eagles start what they hope to be a return trip to the Class 3A, Division II championship as they take on the Buffalo Bison in bi-district play.  The Eagles, who finished the regular season 6-4 and earned a 5-0 mark in District 11-3A-II, again won the district championship and the district's #1 seed.  Meanwhile, the Bison, 4-6 on the season and 3-3 in District 12-3A-II play.
