I went to see this one last night. There was a ton of water on the field. Possibly two inches in places that were not beneath the tarp during the rains the night before. Who decides if a field is playable or not playable? Balls hit to the out field splashed. Balls that landed in the foul territory of the infield splashed. Balls to the backstop splashed. I would hope our coach would have thought that field to be unplayable and not put season on the line in a ballpark that is too wet to play a district game on. So who gets to decide if the field is playable and what if hamshire's coach would have diagreed as I hope ours would have.

The Silsbee coaches had made the decision not to play and called the HF coach to inform him of their decision. HF was already on their way to Silsbee and said they were coming to play no matter how wet it was. Silsbee then agreed to play the game.

There was water in outfield and in foul territory, some places more than others. The fact is the water was never a "determining" factor in the game. Did it come into play sometimes? Yes. But it did not alter the game in any way.

Both teams were happy to get the game in.

“ART. 1 . . . The home coach shall decide whether the grounds and other conditions are suitable for starting the game. After the game starts, the umpires are sole judges as to whether conditions are fit for play and as to whether or not conditions are suitable for starting the second game of a scheduled double-header (two games between the same teams during the same day).”
