Chester86
I love HS baseball, to the point where my family tells me I border on being obsessed. No apologies - it's just what I like; not much on fishing, golf or any other hobbies, just love baseball. In reading virtually every post that comes across I was struck by how many quality sophomore pitchers there are in the area. Usually, it takes a young man time to be given the opportunity and develop into a dominant pitcher in the high school ranks. I am sure travel ball plays a big role in this maturation process, but I truly believe this sophomore class (2017 graduates) is going to make an impact and have recruiters paying attention. Please note that I am not saying the sophomores I am mentioning are the only good pitchers in the area. We have numerous athletes who have already made their mark, and continue to put a flag on the mound proclaiming their dominance. Right off hand I think of Shugart, Lognion, Marshall, Roedahl, Anderson twins - and I know I am probably leaving a few off that deserve to be mentioned. I am going to throw a list out there. Bear in mind this is not an all-inclusive list as I am not familiar with every pitching staff around. I am interested to hear from you if there are other names out there. There are some players from back in the day that used to pitch, but I am not sure if they still do - so I am only going to mention those that I know are pitching. This list is in no particular order, so I am going to start in the small-school classification and go up from there. Call me a homer, but I gotta stay safe at the house so I'll start with:1) Daniel Bean - Evadale ( :D) ,2) Austin Hendrix - Dallardsville Big Sandy,3) Kelby Weyler - Warren,4) Josh Lamb - Kelly,5) Chet Jones - Kirbyville, 6) Trevis Sundgren - Silsbee,7) Chase Partain - Silsbee,8) Bryan Bergeron - HF,9) Caine Williams - Nederland,10) Chase Kemp - Nederland,11) Dalton Bennett - Jasper,12) Mac Patterson - Orangefield,13) Dylan Anthony - Orangefield, and14) Jack Dallas - WO-S.I know there are several more out there, but that is not a bad list of pitchers. goldenlady and adminbaberuth

Chester86
Bryce Holmes for Woodville. Held Central Heights to 2 runs on 3 hits in 6 innings the other night. Impressive, especially against the #1 team in the state. Outstanding job.

jwbassman
Demarie Smith from West Sabine is a VERY good Sophmore pitcher. He has a NASTY breaking ball!! He pitched for the Lone StarTigers back in select ball days, I haven't seen him in several years. Glad to hear he's doing well
pinelandflash
I have heard yall mention his name, hope I get to see him pitch soon. I saw him break off a slide piece at San Augustine that had to have broke at least 3 feet. Started it off outside the right handed batters box and snapped it over the inside corner(was a right handed batter). He has easy gas too to go with the two breaking pitches... pinelandflash
I didn't know Andrew was a Jr. Kid can deal ! Yes he can. A four pitch pitcher that brushes the low to mid 80's with his heater, a nose to toes curve as well as a nasty change up that he can throw any time in the count... eagleswoodville#1
Impressive, especially against the #1 team in the state. Outstanding job. Yep. Stays consistently 78-80 with great command of every one of his pitches. But the most impressive thing about him is his poise. You dont see many Sophomores who get in a jam against the #1 team in the state and keep their heads about them to finish the inning without a run scored. He is definitely one to keep an eye on in the coming years. He's an even better shortstop/second baseman.
