Mart star RB Cosby dismissed from team

Recommended Posts

I hope that's not the case. I took it o e of two ways: either he skipped the detention that day and went to practice then left when this was discovered, or the detention was the next day and when he found out that he would not be eligible to play Friday he left practice. I think the second scenario is more likely because I think the coach would have known about the detention very shortly after it was levied.

So the coach wanted him to choose football practice over after school detention? Is that what I am reading... or am I reading it wrong... He left practice to fulfill his punishment and in turn has been removed from the team?

I took it the same way. Sounds like the wrong person is being punished...

Coach Nail is a heck of a coach and runs a tight ship. I don't think it's his  policy that if you miss one practice, then you can't play. I think the issue that caused the detention and subsequent missed  practice led Coach Nail to suspending him for the game or part of the game. In turn when finding this out, Cosby chose to walk out of practice (the day before detention related missed practice). All speculation but I don't think that Coach Nail is in the wrong in anyway and should be applauded for sticking to his guns even with the star player.

@DavidSmoak: @martfbrnail, "After mtg w/D'Marcus this am after cool down time. He will be suspended from Axtell game for disrespect to teacher in class."

@DavidSmoak: More on D'Marcus Cosby suspension, "He'll be suspended vs Bosqueville for poor choice after discipline was handed out 4 yesterdays actions."

@DavidSmoak: Also, more from @martfbrnail on Cosby, "D'Marcus must attend all practices, meetings, and dress out for both suspended games." (Cont)

@DavidSmoak: "D'Marcus had that choice to walk away and says he will serve punishment and apologize and make right issues of yesterday."

@DavidSmoak: And, finally from @martfbrnail on Cosby suspension, "We shall see how he handles himself in making right his poor choices."

@DavidSmoak: In summary, Mart RB D'Marcus Cosby suspended against Axtell & Bosqueville 4 disciplinary reasons any games after that depend on his actions.

Why was he in detention in the first place? Has this been a repeated pattern? Are you actually that dunce?

I guess I'm still missing something. He got a detention so he has to miss a game? If it was actually that severe of an action to warrant him missing a game, shouldn't he be punished by the school a bit more, not just measly detention? The tweet also said that practice would be missed for detention. So he accepted his punishment, agreed to serve the detention, and now he's getting punished for accepting his punishment? That's ridiculous. The coach should have said, he's serving his suspension because of what he did in the classroom. However, two games? That has to be something pretty big.

HJ2012, I would suspect that Coach Nail had preset definitions for "Football" punishment for off field discipline issues as most coaches do. It's called holding your players to a higher standard and teaching them something about accountability. How many of us had to run our butts off after practice for misconduct in school that included detention of some sorts.
In light of all the BS I see in the news from these high profile College players and NFL knuckleheads, I think it's refreshing to see.

I don't doubt the penalty was justified. I just don't agree that he's only being punished because of missing practice as the tweets read. Maybe that's not what happened, but that's what it said. I think if you're going to try to tweet something like that, post it somewhere else and tag the link in it because it's too hard to follow otherwise. Now, if he disrespected a teacher, I agree about the suspension. But did he get suspended an extra game because he stormed off? Or was it because he missed two days of practice because he got two after school detentions?
