HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

WEEK 1

 

 

Offensive Player of the Week

 

Kendrick King, Quarterback, Hamshire-Fannett

 

King gained 245 yards on 18 carries and 4 touchdowns, including the game winner with 5 seconds left in the Longhorn's victory over Lumberton Thursday night, 44-41.  He was also 6-11 for 76 yards and 2 touchdowns.

 

Special Mention - Offense

 

Adam Morse, Quarterback, Port Neches-Groves

 

Morse was 26-38 for 384 yards (a PN-G school record) and 4 touchdowns in a 38-13 Indian win over Clear Lake Friday night.  He also added 1 touchdown rushing.

 

 

Defensive Player of the Week

 

Cord Neal, Defensive Back, Chester

 

Neal had two interception returns for touchdowns (57 yards and 80 yards) and a fumble recovery in a 58-13 win over Lewisville Lakeland on Friday night.

 

Special Mention - Defense

 

Port Arthur Memorial Defense

 

The Titan defense pitched a shutout against Beaumont Ozen.   They held the Panther offense to 68 total yards.

Just a little correction there was about 30 seconds left in the game when King got the winning touchdown. Lumberton had a chance to go down field to get a field goal or touchdown but were unable to

Congrats to all, but nice to see a little love for a small school player. Chester is one of the smallest schools in the state, but always has great fan support and a great atmosphere at home games. Here's to hoping they have a great season and break a long playoff drought.
