Changes in Woodville

Recommended Posts

No your right its not lack of talent in Woodville its the administration and parents who want let the coach do his job and coach the team they have had some great coaches leave for that reason no support and to many parents griping and complaining about things.

A lot of schools have this problem and its very sad. Too many maws and paws that think they know it all. A program needs full support of the parents, board, and administration to be successful on a consistent basis...

My sources are area coaches that he (Vanya)is friends with. He did apply. They all thought he would get the job. Must have had some skeletons in his closet or made the wrong people mad in the past.

We aren't sure that he didn't get it. The board has to vote on any recommendation made by the superintendent. He hadn't made a recommendation yet lol

That's part of it. But it's more small-town politics than anything.

Anyone know his credentials, other than going 0-10 in Jacksonville last year.

He has also served as a defensive coordinator at Mount Pleasant, Livingston, Cleveland and Nacogdoches.

This will be his second head coaching opportunity, he was once the AD/Football Coach at Luling High School.

Prior to his time in Texas high school football, Waldie was an defensive coordinator and assistant coach at Bethany College in Kansas, Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and Kansas Wesleyan, Salina, Kansas.

Was named National Defensive Coordinator of the Year in 2000 by American Football Magazine. And won National Championships at Bethany and Washburn (NAIA and D2).

Just curious about his high school record (where you play the hand you'really dealt). Not college where you get to pick your team.

Well, unfortunately, at NAIA and D2 schools there's not much above-average talent to pick from. Some of our good 6A schools could go out and beat a lot of NAIA schools. But since you souf so genuinely interested, he took Luling from a team that hadn't won a district game in four years to the third round of the playoffs in his stint there.

I think this could be a good hire for Woodville. The man has seen enough athletes to recognize talent and he has worked with many coaches to pick up enough information and strategies to put togother a winning season for what ever type athlete comes through the doors. The parent situation is actually a good one to be in. there are many that are actively involved and have spent thousands of dollars to advance their childs level of play. down side is coach wont have much room to bs these parents since these parents have invested so much time and effort in bringing a winning tradition to a hungry community. HE is coming from the right part of Texas to win. 903 area code.  .

I'm not really sure why people are getting up in arms about a rumor. Lol are we even 100% that Vanya applied?

And if you've been playing against Woodville for the past thirty years, you know it's definitely not a lack of talent keeping us at 5-5. Just saying.

It is the mindset of the community
