They would be in the district with Dekaney and Westfield but if the enrollment number goes up they're probably still going to be in the new 5a. As long asthey're not way over the limit they could move the numbers 100 or so with how you're allowed to figure enrollment. Same way Manvel can be 4A d2, realign to 5a the next year but Dawson and Friendswood can still stay 4a.

Id also like to mention Jasper as a legit top team. I dont think they won any state title but their win lose record is strong. I remember all the Limbricks, Terrence Currington, and Shaun Horn days.
That guy absolutely embarassed my cousins' Lincoln team in the 90s. He was quick. I remember Horn, wasnt he on the Jasper team that beat WO-S one year in the playoffs?

Katy should give half their titles to Northshore and Humble ISD's.  Where they recruit all their skill players.
What? In the early 2000's we lived there and my wife taught at Katy HS when they were winning a couple of those titles or being runner up. None of those kids were from Humble or Northshore. Where do you get your info? ::)  Trying to dodge the reason why Humble ISD is non-existant in football with the exception of your round 2 Dawgs? ;)
don't think a kid would ever transfer from NS to Katy unless he couldn't get on the field plus the schools are clear across the city from each other.  Katy has the titles but The Shore is where the scholarships are handed out. Katy is far from the most talented 5A teams in the state, they just probably have the best coach and program.
True on scholarships. I always wondered why Katy don't have more D1 guys. Something to think about is coach Johnson was there when we lived there. He retired and to private school in Houston and the current coach stepped in and didn't miss a beat.

Katy just executes better then most schools. Their kids are smart and discliplined. That's another reason why I know Humble or NS kids didn't transfer there. ;D

Hadnot was Kirbyville.  Butch Hadnot went on to play at Texas.  Before Hadnot you have Dexter 'Thomas' I think.  Some of you remember how dominant Kirbyville was during those years.  I just remember those two guys.  Both unstoppable.

Jasper has had a ton of talented runing backs. Kerion Morensy was a good one year before last as well. I just remember Wayne Limber at FB and forget who there TB was just destrying Silsbee in 1992 the last game of the year to decide the district title. Silsbee had McGuire and Rhone who were Jr's.

I remember seeing Butch Hadnot at an HD track meet when I was a kid. His thighs were huge, built like a tree trunk, he out ran everybody. He was a beast, bigger and faster than everybody.

Here is a link to highlights from 1990 Cotton Bowl.  He's a true freshman doing that to the previously undefeated Cougars.  Announcers were drawing comparisons to Earl Campbell.  Saw Dronett, RIP, in the video as well.  McCoy from Bmt Central playing for the Cougars as a true freshman also in the video.  I forgot how bad I hated that UH siren.

Celina has the 8 state titles but Corpus Christi Calallen has been to the playoffs 27 straight years and to the second round or better 26 times. I think I would take a quarter century of dominating the southern bend over a single title.
Calallen has been good for a while, but the south Texas competition is WEAK! Going two+ rounds down there doesn't compare.

Southlake Carroll won titles in 2A and 3A before the stretch run in 5A...Pretty darn salty. And they won those early titles in an offense built around the run under Ledbetter, then dominated the 5A scene through the air under Dodge.

And one name I haven't seen yet is Plano.

Hard to say who is top dog.
The competition in the district may be weaker but region 3 doesn't compare to region 4 where Calallen plays. Throw in the fact that they're about the size of Ozen and lose the to the eventual state champ about 50% of the time and other than La Marque who has multiple titles nobody in region 3 compares. When is the last time a 4A school other than La Marque won a title from this region? Unless you have multiple titles I think Calallen's success is untouched.
Thanks for helping proove my point. Region 4 has only been successful because of Lake Travis and lets be honest here, they are not exactly a south Texas team are they. Sure Lamarque is the only real title holder from Region 3, but to discredit teams like Brenham, Manvel, Dayton and others that have played for the title recently, but praise Callalen for loosing to Lamarque (best in region 3 for years) over and over again makes little sense. Other than LT, who from R4 has played for a title before this year. And who from south of San Antonio which is who CC Callallen feasted on for years only to loose when they got to some real competition.
CCC is a good program, but they dont deserve to be in this convo.
Did you not see the 4a playoffs last year? Cedar Park won the D2 title from region 4 and played Manor who's usually region 4. Meaning the Austin district won our "tough" region. Not only did they win both region 3 titles, all 4 of their playoff teams would have gone three rounds deep had it not been for Ned. Next year Georgetown will be back in region 4 so you really can't count them as playing for a title from region 3. The year Manvel went to state they beat Calallen by three in the semis and Dayton by 39 in the third round. Manvel also had nearly a 1000 kid enrollmet advantage. The year before that La Marque blew out Dayton, Manvel and then Calallen in the semis before losing to Aledo in the title game. IJS, Cedar Park, Smithson Valley, New Braunfels, Alamo Heights, Calallen, and Travis 5 times in the last decade have played for 4a titles. you might as well throw in Georgetown too because that's usually where they play. While region 2 still dominates everybody region 4 has a leg up on us in the semifinal battles and it gets even worse in 5a. It would be ugly be it not for Katy.

I'd have to say the Austin area has per capita the strongest football in the state. The Austin area schools usually are in R4 in 4a and R2 in 5a, so naturally they dominate in 4a more often than in 5a (North Houston and DFW can be fierce). As far as R4 having the recent advantage over R3 in the state semi's, R4 always manages to have a handful of really good teams year to year, I would just say that their regional competition is pretty weak compared to R3.

Yes I saw the titles games this year. Thats why I said "before" last year. And every team you mentioned outside of CCC was from SA and Austin. Thats my point Callallen has feasted on the teams south of SA for years they are not even a top 20 program!!!
