  1. I agree, we should not take them lightly. They are a 5a school, so their enrollment is a lot higher than ours, which means more talent to chose from. I also spoke to a gentleman this morning that told me their back was very good, so this should be a good test for our D.
  2. Who is Cypress Ranch? Does anyone know anything about them? I know their 5a, and it's their first year, but where are they from? Are they any good?
  3. You must be kidding me! BH will not finish #2 in 19-4A. I was there on friday and BH could not defend the Sisters of Charity. Take off the "Mecca" shades and be for real. You guys will struggle to finish #4 at best. What is your order of finish for 19-4A? Before the season I would complete agree with your assesment , but things are changing ;D Lumberton was the district co champ of their district last year, so it's not like they are GCM or nothing ;D I though Crosby would be #2 but after Ennis (I know they are a great team) put in the the cheerleaders after the half because they were tired of scoring and then PNG (BH lost by1) put a Golden Triangle Arse whoopin on them I can see Crosby at the four spot. CE King still looks good ,but not unbeatable! BH at #2 is not a strech at this point with or without the shades. Top four as I see um. 1.) Dayton (Duh!) 2.) C.E King (Could be 3) 3.) BH (Could be 2) 4.) Crosby (Maybe) BHFan, I agree with your assessment. How is North Forest this year? We had more trouble with them last year, than King. I believe once we get a couple of wins, we will be a pretty tough team. I think we are playing a little tight right now.
  4. I guess you ,SnooopDog, either can not read or can't comprehend what it was that BH34 was trying to say. He was giving you guys credit and naming our mistakes. And obviously you don't have a kid that played last night because when I asked my son did the boys talk a lot of a smack. His exact answer was no not at all, they were telling them good catch, good hit. That's called good sportsmanship. I doubt you know anything about that. Thanks, for backing me up ImJusSayn. Snoop, I am focused on this years team!! The reason I've referred to last years team(only twice I might add) is because, me, and many others, really didn't expect much this year, all of you over there included, and all because of what we witnessed from last years team. The team overall (not every player) had no leadership and no heart, after loosing a game it seemed they hardly cared. This years team is not like that, at all, and I want them to know they aren't that team. All we heard before the season is how PNG & Lumberton were going to stomp us, and why, because of the performance of our last years team. So guess what? This ain't last years team, no matter what our record says. I'm so pumped right now about this team
  5. Congrats, to Lumberton! Ya'll have a very good team and should do very well this season. I thought both teams played with class!!! BH made mistakes and Lumberton didn't. BH is not at the point where they can over come very many mistakes, especially against a good team like Lumberton. Good luck with the rest of your season. With that said, I thought we improved tremendously over last week. Except for the two interceptions, the offense preformed way beyond their game last week. Matthew has come a long way in just a week, at times he looked very at ease and in control. Just a few tweaks here and there and he's going to be a pretty darn good QB. Stork, Duke, Morton and Smith are a force to be reckoned with, they all made some outstanding catches tonight. The defense didn't tackle quiet as good as last week, several times they had Lumberton stopped for a loss, and let the runner get through their grasp...but you have to credit Lumberton with some of that, their QB and backs run the ball with purpose. I thought our defense did step up to make some huge stops when they had to. I hope our kids don't get down, they are a good team and play with heart, which is something we didn't see last year. Just have to improve on a couple of things and this could turn into a very exciting season!!!! WE LOVE YA EAGLES!!!!!
  6. It's probably not the greatest scoreboard in the world, I personally don't care for the two Eagles with the yellow circle around them...with that said, this is by far the nicest scoreboard we've ever had at the Hill. Overall I think it's really sharp and no where near like the other generic boards we've had. On a scale from 1 to 10 I give it a nine.
  7. Thats the question, we really don't know...I know several of us have wondered the same thing. I'll say this again though, BH is better right now than they were at any point in the season last year. Lumberton will come to play, so I guess we'll find out Friday.
  8. Thanks for the update!! Maybe they should have started working on it before the end of July...not sure, but maybe. Good line about the hard hat and glasses, LOL!
  9. I know this is off subject...does anyone know if our pressbox will be ready? Drove by it today and it still appeared to be under construction...the scoreboard looked pretty nice though. Hope it's all ready for Friday night!!!!!!!
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Lumberton play HF a 3-A team picked last in their district? If that's true then no wonder your passes were all on target and your defense looked so good. Ya'll may still come over here and stomp a mud hole in us(I don't believe it for a minute) but I think you should play a little better team before you talk about how great your doing. BH fans were all very surprised Friday with the performance from our team, we are much improved (right now) from the team last year. But I don't think any of us are ready to say that we are a good team, the verdict is still out on that one. I just think it's amusing that ya'll are that confident after one game with a sub par team (no offense to HF).
  11. Hey PNG, don't listen to what one fan say's, all the guy's around me (on BH side) were talking about how nice your stadium is, and wishing we had one like it. Wolf is just wrong. PNG has a lot of class and I hope our coaches sign up to play for two more years! Good luck with the rest of your season!!!
  12. Well, BH took this game, put it in a box, wrapped it in nice paper with a bow and all the works, and handed it to PNG for an early Christmas gift. I hope PNG sends a "Thank You" card. We aren't happy about the turnovers of course, but I'm pumped!!! I think we've got a pretty good team in the making here. I really expected to see the same type team we had last year...we are far removed from that team. We still have a long way's to go, but I feel something I didn't feel last year...HOPE!!! Keep up the good work kids, improve on the mistakes, and your going to much better than most of us thought you would. Except for the turnovers...Great Job!!! Go Eagles
  13. I love the Eagles and want them to do well, with that said, the scrimmage looked pretty rough to me. I know we don't show much in a scrimmage so they always look rough to me. I'm not saying this to hurt any of our kids feelings but we are no where near as talented as the Cleveland team...it's just the facts of life. I still think we will be better than we were last year though...just got a few rough edges to smooth out. One thing that hurt us last year and looks like it may be a problem again is, running backs. We have not had a dominate running back since Thurman graduated. We have a guy ( and I hope he reads this) that should be running over anyone in his way, but he just tip toe's through the line. If Bradford will ever realize how awesome he could be, then our team would look much different. I guarantee you he could pick up 5 or 6 yards a carry if he would just hit the hole at full speed.
  14. I agree about Bradford, someone needs to give him some Earl Campbell videos to watch...If that kid would put his mind to it he could be a devastating runner. Like Earl he's not going to out finesse people, but he can put his head down and run over people, if he would hit the hole at top speed it would take 5 yards to bring him down even if everyone missed their blocks. Come on Bradford...become a beast, the team needs you!!!!
  15. Amen Hillguy!!!! I was a move in as well but looked forward to being apart of the great tradition. I fell in love with BH and still love living here now. BH-89, there is hardly a team out there that doesn't have a coach that has moved in from somewhere else. I hope we don't limit ourselves to just hiring coaches that went to school here. I'm all for hiring coaches that are graduates, but that doesn't automatically make them a good coach.
  16. For the most part BH has never had exceptional athletes, although there have been more than most remember, but we've always had some of the hardest working kids around. Guy's like Jabo, Kenneth Ducet, Bill Kilgore, Jamey Harvey, Vance Hale, a kid with last name Clark and many more, were some of the more talented athletes. Go check out the hall of fame sometime. Then you have guy's like Beaver Trousdale that played so far beyond his size and ability, that he had an award named in his honor. I think we still have good kids now, and many that believe in hard work. With that said, I'm not sure we have many kids that would go through the kind of program that the boy's in the late 60's and early 70's went through under Gene Sharp. I've heard that the practises were so tough it made the games a cake walk. On one occasion one of the fathers from another team took his kid out of the game because BH played so hard and tough. I know they were not as big and strong as the kids are today, but I'm going to say that they could hang with the kids today because they were tougher and better conditioned. Go ask Jabo about the things Gene Sharp put them through...you won't believe it. I think the idea of coming up with an all time team, would be very interesting. I think it would be a good idea for that to be a part of the hall of fame. I think it would be best to do it in 20 or 30 year intervals, because every few years it would change. You could do a best of team for the 30's & 40's, and so on. For me though, coming up with an all time team would require far more research than just the last five or ten years. Is it time for kick off yet?
  17. Congrats, from a BH Eagle fan...Great Job Bronco's! Take the State title!!!!!!!
  18. We're pulling for the Bronocs over here in Eagle land. Let's Go Bronco's take care of Tivy!
  19. With all due respect, those are not the same plays over and over. Believe me they are different. Plus all offenses run the same plays over and over. When I played we had they "I" formation. We ran 34 power, we ran 32 power, 24 dive, 22 dive, same on the other side of the ball...and then some sweeps, counters and some passing and a few other variations. We ran the power plays most of the time. How many times did Dayton run that swing pass to Dugat? If you can run a power play over the right tackle and gain 5 yards a carry, why would you run anything else?
  20. Yes I did forget Evans. I agree with certain points from everyone. First off, I don't live and die by Don Price, nor do I think he is the beginning and end to football coaching, there are SEVERAL things I disagree with him about. First off I don't think we've had a ton of talent the last ten years, yes, we've had some talent but not D-1 talent. Also, we've had some real bad luck with injuries as well, and it negated some of the talent that we had. For instance; take Chris Daniels Jr. year, we started off with a great defense, we had Lewis Duncan at line backer and that Grey kid at nose tackle, and others that we very good, can't remember names. After the first game, we started loosing starters right and left, before the middle of the season we had lost 6 starters off the defense, for the season I might add. I'm sorry but our bench just isn't deep enough to handle that kind of loss...strike one. Then Chris got hurt..strike two, he did come back in the playoffs, but he couldn't throw the ball or run really...result, Kirbyville wins...strike three. Chris's senior year, we start off doing great, Chris is number 5 in the area in passing and he is running the ball better than ever, then Diboll...he tears his knee, out for the season. Pat steps in and does a great job, but the running threat was gone. I'm in the opinion that say's, if Chris doesn't go down, we may go all the way, or at least a couple more rounds. Our offense was never the same after he got hurt. Anyway, there have been several years when we just had bad luck. Now, I understand you can't make excuses, but BH just doesn't have the depth on the bench to lose any key players, and that has happened several times. So in that, we really aren't not sure what he can do with a healthy talented team. BHFAN, I do understand what your saying though. The problem is, I don't think the parents in our community would allow a butt kicking coach. Do you know how to win with out much talent? You discipline and work the kids nearly to the point of abuse. They have to be tougher than the other team, and win by not making mistakes and just beating the other team down. That's what Gene Sharp did at BH, the stuff he put the kids through is almost unbelievable...I've heard stories that blew my mind. I've heard someone is going to write about some of that stuff, I hope they do. Anyway, I wish we could get a coach like that, but I just don't think our kids and parents would put up with it. That's my point, this school has a record of hiring coaches that just aren't the type coach that can get the job done...like McGallion, Hope, Edwards, Skidmore etc..etc. So I'm not willing to go back to those days, at least Don and his staff work their butts off to make sure the kids are in good shape and put in the best situation according to their talent, to win. I also think he is a good man and teaches kids more about life than just football. So, he is so much better than what we've had in the past, and not trusting our board to hire the right kind of coach, makes me content to stay with what we have. One more thing, I don't want anyone to think that I'm saying none of the kids work. I know there are some that work very hard. Like I said before, you can't have just a hand full...if there are 30 kids on the varsity, then all 30 need to be killing themselves in the weight room, playing 7 on 7, running and being together. It all starts with senior leadership, which we've had none of the last two years. I think to many parents don't realize how much work it takes to have a winning team...so they don't make their kids go to the gym after school or during the summer. Then, everyone wonders why we are having a loosing year. You know the main problem here? None of us can FREAKING STAND TO LOSE!!!! IT'S SENDING US OVER THE EDGE!!!! Oh well, it's just a game...it doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's how you play the game...lol...lol...lol...just getting my liberal on in case Obama wins...lol...lol.
  21. Thanks, Purple forever and ballcoach! I know some of my fellow Bh fans will take exception to what I wrote, but I don't care. I want BH to win as bad as anyone, I get depressed when we have a year like we're having also. To blame everything on the coach when he's had very good success through out the years(in fact we had no success for nearly 20 years until Don took over) drives me crazy. I don't think Don is the greatest coach to ever walk the earth, but he has done a great job in his nine years as head coach, so I think he deserves a little slack. If we had some really great talent this year( like McGallion did in the mid 90's) and he wasn't producing, then I'd be calling for his head also. I don't understand why folks can't see the difference in the speed and talent on other teams, and the speed and talent that we've put on the field the last two years. I'm not trying to put down the kids, it's just the facts of life. Hey, when I played we didn't win either, because we just didn't have the tools. Oh, and another thing, we didn't work as hard as we needed to either, INCLUDING ME...So we weren't successful. Ya'll want to get rid of Don, you might as well get ready to lose for the next 2 to 3 years as the new coach tries to implement his program. Oh well, that's enough of my opinions.
  22. Before Don, it was McGallion; who took a lot of talent and absolutely wasted it. Before him it was Skidmore; good man and a good X&O's coach but didn't win except for two years when he had really good talent. Before Skidmore it was Hope; he had only two playoff years and never won a district championship, worked the players hard but his ego kept him from winning. Before Hope it was Edwards; didn't work the players at all, his philosophy was "when the lights come on BH comes to play"... had a couple of good years. Before Edwards it was Pudgy; won a State Championship and before him it was Gene Sharp who won a State Championship. So lets look at the records since Pudgy. Edwards- two winning seasons. Hope - two winning seasons. Skidmore - two winning seasons. McGallion - no winning seasons. Don Price - eight winning seasons, five of those going undefeated in regular season including the first year moving up to 4a. After graduating 33 seniors in 2006, missed the playoffs in 2007 by one bad call from a Ref against Smiley. 2008 team has faced more talent than the Eagles have ever played, with a team that is probably the slowest most nonathletic team BH has put on the field in many years...and has been just a few mistakes away from winning at least 3 more games. Since Don has been at BH, the Hill has won across the board, from football to track. I think he has a pretty respectable track record. So my Question is, what coaching program do you want to go back to? McGallion? Skidmore? Hope? Edwards? I know none of you mommies and daddies out there would want to go back to the Pudgy and especially the Gene Sharp years. Your poor little boy's couldn't handle the kind discipline and work ethic that Gene Sharp put the Eagles through. I know a lot of you move inn's won't know anything about those days. If you want to have your eye's opened, go talk to some the guy's like Randy Foster, Elmo Camp, Jabo Leonard, Kenneth Dosett, Jamie Horn, etc...etc, who played during those years. Ask them to tell you how Sharp worked the kids. What I'm getting at is, I don't think people around here would support another Gene Sharp type coach. So what your going to end up with is, one of these coaches that we had through the 80's and 90's, or a coach like Price that gets the most out of the talent that he puts on the field. I'm happy to continue with Price...I think he's done a great job, overall. Another thing moms and dads, how hard are your kids working? Are they spending time after school lifting, running, throwing and catching. Your kids can't show up for practise in Aug. and automatically win. It takes hard work all through the off season and in the summer, we don't have a Green or Dogat playing for us, our kids will have to work harder than the other teams. Then with all that work, sometime your skill doesn't match up with other teams, like against North Forest and Dayton, really everyone we've played this year. I know y'all won't believe this but, sometimes kids aren't putting in the work, that they tell you, they're putting in. We can't win with just 10 or 12 working hard all year and the rest just doing just enough to get by. Not trying to be a jerk, but parents you need to really make a honest assessment to the type of work ethic your kid is giving, and push them to work harder if it's needed, even if you hate the coach. I'll shut up now and wait for my butt chewing.
