  1. I disagree! Sure I think we should have pulled the starters earlier. I think the blame goes both ways on this one. The coaches didn't fumble the ball, throw interceptions, have runners stopped in the back field and then let them go, run into punters, miss passes that were right in their hands, throw bad passes to recievers wide open and a host of other items. I was upset about us running a pitch out, down on the goal line in the rain, but then I thought about it, yes it may not have been wise but the rain is not why we fumbled...Matt, just threw the ball behind Andrew...had nothing to do with the rain. One time when we hit the punter, was complete bs, they never touched him. The second time, GCM, hicked the ball short to their up back and our kids were on him before they realized the normal punter didn't have the ball. The refs were horrible once again!!! But that didn't cost us the game. I just think this was a team loss, players and coaches.
  2. Oh Ranger boy...here, here Ranger83...we're all here waiting. I think he's torturing us with silence. I don't think I'm alone in saying, I've been worried about this game all week. Just had a feeling our kids had already put this one in the win column. GCM, just came out and dominated us completely...very hard to watch. Man this was a crazy week(not for us, I think we would have gotten beat anyway) UH cougars, A&M, Dayton, WOS, North Shore all teams that were supposed win big...Oh, and the Texans won on Sunday, holding an opponent to under 30 points...very strange week.
  3. Congrats, to GCM, ya'll played a great game!!! Ya'll came out ready to play, made very few if any mistakes, and whipped our tails. Ya'll deserve the win, so enjoy every minute!!! Our team has not looked that poor all year, absolutely horrible. Our kids acted like they had the game won just because they dominated GCM last year, when will the kids learn? Hope you learned a huge lesson, but we thought you may have taken the hint last week, but you didn't. When you don't focus on the game at hand get made to look foolish. To make matter worse, Hopper went out with what looked like a broken arm...hope he is okay!! Maybe putting him in on defense wasn't a good idea. Come on Eagles, put this game behind you, but use it as a learning situation, refocus, and come ready to play next week. It's gut check time, do you have the heart or will ya'll fold under the pressure? Get it together Eagles!!!
  4. When we were successful in 1,2 and 3A guess what ???we were 1, 2 & 3 A!!! I'm sure there are teams in these classifications that are not successful or with your genius "it isn't hard", so everyone must be great in these classes ??? BH went undefeated their first year in 4A during the regular season and lost by 3 points to a good Central team. And still are very competitive in every sport and UIL competition in 4A. You can down play THE HILL all ya want and we are happy to recieve "transplants" they come here for a reason! BHfan, AMEN BROTHER!!!! Why don't GCM or any Baytown school for that matter, run over and play that little 2a Newton team or little 3a WOS team, and find out how sorry some of these smaller schools really are?
  5. 2009 DISTRICT ACCOUNTABILITY SUMMARY DISTRICT NAME: GOOSE CREEK CISD DISTRICT NUMBER: 101911 ACCOUNTABILITY RATING: Recognized DISTRICT NAME: BARBERS HILL ISD DISTRICT NUMBER: 036902 ACCOUNTABILITY RATING: Academically Acceptable Oh God I'm Moving ;D Obviously these Baytown move-ins are watering down our TAKS scores The coaching did it........ ;D ;D ;D Got to love these boards.....and all the meaningless chatter......mostly from people like me. Yes, enough with the meaningless chatter and back to the predictions...I predict a win!!
  6. I'm a little nervous about this game. If our kids don't focus and play hard for four quarters, they could be very unhappy at the end of this game. With homecoming this week there will be many distractions for the boys to get involved with. Don't be fooled this week, just because we beat them last year. Be prepared for a tough fight. So work hard this week and focus on this game, and not on all the other stuff happening around you. Come out, and play four quarters, of intense, hard nosed football...Because, the torture that all of us will have to endure at the hands of Ranger83, if you don't, will be more than any of us can bear...OMG, it could bring about the end of the world as we know it!!!! For our sakes, here on this forum, please don't let that happen!!!! PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! we don't ask ya'll for much, just to win this game, and the Crosby game, and Dayton and--North Forest, and a State Title...thats all...I don't think thats to much to ask...LOL...LOL. For real Eagles, you need to be ready this week.
  7. You gotta love Ranger though, he knows how to build that fire. It would be boring around here if we didn't have him to beat up on once in awhile...LOL.
  8. Overrate verb overestimate, glorify, overvalue, oversell, make too much of, rate too highly, assess too highly, overpraise, exaggerate the worth of, overprize, think or expect too much of, think too highly of, attach to much importance to Let me use the word in a sentence for you: Barbers Hill football is overrated. Are we ranked in any polls? Not to my knowledge( maybe there is a poll that I haven't seen yet) so how are we over rated? Is it because we've won a few games? Or is it because some us get on this forum and try to sell our team, all in good fun. I don't think any of us here at the Hill, that are SERIOUS fans, think that we have a powerhouse football team. What we have, is a great group of kids that are working their butts off, they want to win and they are playing as a team. I don't think any of us, have some idealistic view, that our team has turned into some kind of football gods. So again, how are we over rated? If we were ranked in the top 10, then I'd say yes, we may be overrated...as far as I know, that isn't the case. I'll take our hardworking, over achieving, good attitude kids, over super talented jerks any day...even if we never win a State Championship again.
  9. First off, KP played and awesome game and are far better than their record indicates. Great job Eagles, never giving up and fighting until the end. You showed heart and character tonight, so keep it up! I agree with others, I think we came in expecting to run over KP with ease, and almost got our tail handed to us on a platter. I hope our kids learn a lesson about taking teams to lightly, no matter what their record. I thought our "D" played well, just got burned on those long passes. Our offense played pretty good overall as well, had two turnovers that were huge. The one pick was legit, Matt just threw a bad pass. The fumble on the other hand was a bunch of, well you know, the ground caused the fumble. When he was hit he came down and hit the ground with the ball and that caused the fumble. We got hosed on that call and the Offensive interference call on our opening drive, both of those drives would have resulted in TD's I'm sure. KP fumbled two times but of course the player was already down... LIKE MATT WAS!!! I know Ref's have a hard job, but I swear most of these guy's shouldn't be calling Varsity High School games!!! Our kids over came though, that's what is important. Some of why the game was as tight, was because of these two horrible calls. Oh, Matt did play some "D" tonight and made one really good hit. Proud of you Eagles!! But get prepared for the game like every team is the greatest team you've ever played.
  10. Come on 32, do you believe what a meteorologist say's? Now if they said it would sunny with no chance of rain I'd be worried. See they work kinda like Ranger83...down, is up...up, is down...the opposite of what they say is the truth...LOL Let's git it done BH!!!!
  11. Fever99, I didn't think you were coach bashing ( I wish I hadn't use that word) and I wasn't referring to any of your post. I know how you feel about the program. From what I remembered they sent our 1st team back in to run out the clock. I don't remember us running a play, only kneeling, but I could be wrong. I know these kids all have been through practice and all, but there is no experience like game experience. The second team got to run a series, so that was good. I think they(coaches) wanted to get the game over with, and not have any weird things happen, so they put the percentage play on the 1st team...its just my observation. I'm excited about these kids and the way they are pulling together. Keep it up guy's!!!
  12. You got it right, curtain. The reason, I'm sure, they put the 1st team back in was to protect the ball. I don't think they ran a play, just kneeled it every time. Let me ask a question, do ya'll think our coaches want to win? I Do! Don't ya'll think they would throw the ball, all over the field in every game, if that would work on every team? I think they would! Which leads me to believe, that there may have been a reason we ran the ball so much last week, and then this week we mixed it up a little more. GP, was able to cover our receivers better than CEK, plus GP was in Matt's face every time he went to throw. I don't think our coaches are the greatest that ever walked the earth, but I think they are doing a pretty good job with these kids, so I'm going to cut them some slack. In my opinion, I think we need to cut out the coach bashing until after season. These kids are on a high right now, I don't think they need to have any doubt about their program from the fans right now...like I said, my opinion. Eagles you are doing a great job, keep up the hard work!! It only gets tougher from here, so prepare every week and take care of business.
  13. Glad to hear he's doing well after surgery. Hope he has a speedy recovery and that would be great to see him on the field again by the end of the season!!!!!!!!
  14. Just thought we could give Caleb Stork a special thread. Caleb, you did a great job this year, even though your season will be cut short. You helped get the team off to a good start, so be proud of your time on the field. Just remember there is more to life than football. So get well, go get your education, get a good job, marry a great women and then have some more receivers for the future...LOL. But really, hope your surgery and rehab goes well!!! We are going to miss you on Firday Nights!!!!!!! You did a great job!!!!
  15. If you remember one of our last year in 3A we ran a full back (Clay McWilliams) out in front of our 1/2 back (may have been patton) and out in front of Daniels. We ran the sweep as good as anyone, just ask Bridge City (at Crosby-playoff game). I see the same potential in Bradford, as he should run over most linebackers. Would be interesting to see a few times if nothing else. # 20 could easily hide behind 34 and break out from behind a block. Might make an interesting play/option. Yes, I remember that, the difference is you had a guy like Clay lead blocking. I'm sorry but at this point 34 hasn't shown that he can handle the job running or blocking.
  16. That's it in a nut shell BH32, really no true running back. I thought #20 ran very well against GP, and I hope he keeps improving. He took some hits and got up and came right back at em. He's only played one game, so we'll have to see how he does this week...but the fact is he is still a Soph and is 2 years behind (in the weight room) most of the guys on the field. Someone said we should line up in the "I" formation and let Carter Smith run. If we were to do that, we would get killed!!! First off, our line would have to be way better than they are now, and second, I don't think Carter is that type of runner. He's good in the open, but I've never seen him breaking tackles and running over people. Then who's going to be the half back? Is #20 going to be able to lead block every down? The only reason Carter isn't getting more touches is because everyone is keying on him. I think when teams realize that Morton and Duke are beating them anyway it may open up for Carter. I think teams are taking the attitude that these new guys aren't battle tested so they will let them try and beat em, they know they can't let Carter get turned loose or they will have big problems. I think we just need to except the fact that we don't have a ton of options here, we have to work with the talent on the field. I think we do a pretty good job in that respect. Just my opinion.
  17. Having the idea that we will win just because they lost to Crosby is not the correct attitude to have. First off Crosby lost their first two games to pretty darn good teams. I don't think their as bad as their record indicates. We think just because we should have beat PNG and they killed Crosby, that make us automatic winners against King. If our kids pick up that attitude it's a sure way for them to come up short. Our kids better know they are in a fight every week, they are much improved team, but they are not a dominating team yet, so every week will be a fight. They better show up every week 100% focused on the game at hand...if they want to break this no playoff streak we're on! Come on Eagles, come prepared to play this week!!!! This will not be a cake walk.
  18. Way to go Eagles!!!! Galena Park played us very well, we had a hard time passing the ball...oh, and by the way Stork went out with a broken collar bone...not good. Our defense played the run really well, and finally played the pass well at the end of the game. Why doesn't our secondary turn around an look for the ball? GP, had nothing except the long pass, they made a few good runs, but for the most part we stopped them pretty well. We did a lot better on turnovers, I think we had one. But our PAT's are still a trouble spot. I thought overall it was a good game. The kids seemed a little flat at times. Our offense looked very sloppy at times, but #20 ran the ball very well, and gave 150% effort on every play. Morton, made a heck of a catch and run after the catch for a TD and Matthews long run and hurdle was very nice!!! Keep it up Eagles!!!
  19. BHFan, I agree with you for the most part, but not sure about your take on 34. Like I said earlier, I believe this kid, with his size, strength and speed could be one of the best backs to come through BH...but he doesn't run correctly. If he would hit the hole at full speed and lower his body and lead with his head, he would gain 5 yards a carry without any blocking. I think he's slowing before he hits the line and then the hole is gone...plus he is standing straight up. He should have defensive linemen and linebackers quaking in their shoes. I agree some of that comes with experience, but I don't see a lot of change from last year until this year. I hope he figures it out because he would make our offense very very tough!
  20. First off, I hope that my earlier comments on this thread, didn't sound mean or hateful toward our running backs, because that wasn't my intention. If it came across that way, I apologize!!!! I'm pulling for these kids (all of them) 150%, and want them to be able to enjoy a successful season that they can be proud of 20, 30 and 40 years from now. Anyway, I hope my post didn't come over like I was putting down a kid...I would never do that on purpose!
  21. Be careful, you'll get some crazy mom after you.....LOL I don't mind since they always leave after a year or two and we just tick off a new set each season. Bottom line is you don't have an offense when you run the QB 70% of the time. What's going to happen is he will get hurt, just like happened to Chris Daniels and Carmona. As for the turnovers, that is a dicipline and experience problem. You can't run into traffic one handing the ball, period. BH has more speed this year than they have had in a long time, but you have to use it to your advantage. As for interceptions, when you take a somewhat inexperienced QB and stick him in the backfield without a single blocker, then a defense is a fool not to rush him all night. Poor QB is not only trying to find the open receiver, but he's having to do it while running for his life. If the full back is going to leave the backfield under a pass rush, he better be coming off his block rapidly and turning for the screen pass. A team like Dayton will kill BH because of the delayed handoffs and lack of pass protection. I hate to state the obvious but, who else do we have that can run the ball 70% of the time? I'm sorry, I don't mean this as any disrespect to anyone, but we don't have a dominate back. #34 doesn't know how awesome he could be, he could be an All State running back, but he doesn't know how to run with the ball(this is not putting down the kid, we wish he knew how much potential he has) you can't run into the line standing straight up, I don't care how strong you are. I don't know if it's a coaching problem or if he is just not cut out for that position. #20 seems to try very hard, but I'm not sure at this point that he can handle the load either. The spread offense is designed for the QB to carry the ball and to be a threat for the defense to contend with, I think we take it to the extreme, but probably have no choice. I think Matthew is getting better, I think he is trying to hard, to make things work. I know these kids want to win very badly and I think Matthew puts a lot of responsibility upon his shoulders, which he should, and he forces the ball trying to be successful. Our receivers are doing a great job at this point, a huge bright spot this year. I feel good about this team! Just need to correct the turnovers...that may be easier said than done...hope not.
  22. Thanks for the clarification. I did not realize that a school had an option. I saw were North Forest lost to Kashmere last night, so I was checking them out to see how good they are. When I saw the enrollment, I was shocked and then I thought, that can't be correct. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.
  23. I am looking at the Dave Campbell magazine and the enrollment for 22-4a seems off. They have Houston Kashmere @ 533, Jones @ 861, Furr @ 888 and Scarborough @ 746. How can these teams be 4a teams? Have I missed something? Surely this is a typo and they are missing the 1 on the front of each of these numbers?
  24. Cypress Ranch is not a JV team, they just don't have a Senior class this year, they are 5a though, but right now not very good. There were problems with the schedule and it was either have an open week or play this game, so we played. I thought we started out good but then went down hill after the first two scores. I think our kids lost focus especially on the offensive side of the ball. This was a game that you hope to play mistake free and put it out of reach early and then use second team guys for the remainder, but that didn't happen. I thought we played down to their level most of the night. Our defense did a good job for the most part, CR never got their rushing game together. Our kids threw some good licks, and held them out of the endzone all night. The defense I give an A, the offense I give an B-. But it was good for the kids to win a game. It's for real next week boys, its time to start putting the full package on the field and eliminating the mistakes. We believe you can do it!
