1. Update? Panama should be much happier than last week....
2.

Barbers Hill 24 Crosby  17 Crosby has a very hard time in the Red Zone.
You are correct about the Red Zone. If we could play on a 60 yard field I would pick Crosby by 60 points, but since it is a 100 yard field I only picked them by 8.
Even though there is probably stiff competition in this category, I would have to say that this is the dumbest comment I've seen on this board.
3. I dont know why he did it though, next 2-3 years should be better than the previous. Makes the next HC job a bit easier. I think they should go outside the area to bring in a fresh perspective.
4. I hope BH can gain back some pride lost in past years. In regards to the youngest Sexton, he has the potential to be the best. Dale was vastly underused (dude could have been automatic 10+ yrd catches) and Joe.... nuff said.
5. TNT, some reading comprehension, I said they have no MORE than today's players, it was not hotter back in the day, kids did not hit harder, its simply that coaches could push much much more and the equipment sucked. (But many more kids are whiners nowadays) Also, I did the LB example to make a point, not to be exact. To be realistic, Chad Jones for LSU is 6'3 230+ and runs damn close to a 4.45, could you ever fathom this for a SAFETY 20 years ago? (Not to mention 93+ from the left!!) And yes you are right BH has nothing close to this. Mamich, Sylvia, and Harvey I should have remembered, they are locks. A friends dad said Garner was a beast, and Steck is in the hall of honor. Also, I am not trying to antagonize, rather trying to live in the past and not thing about the present state of BH football.
6. Yes I would say that I am biased, simply on the numbers, I.E. linebackers are now 6'4 250 running 4.75 whereas those would be linemen even 25 years ago. Also, outside of new restrictions on practices where coaches cannot treat players like they used to, players in years past did not have more heart or toughness, its just that there are MORE wusses now. The quality of equipment also takes away from the cuts and bruises. Just my opinion.
7. I edited to include '90, typo.... Gordon Speer is a brainfart, I guess the main problem is we never have those Elite athletes that distinguish themselves (outside of Kenny Robbins), are not eligible for college, or are too small for the big time schools (dolan, joe sexton). Honestly I can only vaguely remember Jeff Jones. I think there is a general bias towards more current players due to the athletic differences.
8. Hey guys, I would like some input on your all time team for 'dem Eagles! (or as far back as you can remember) Here's my list: (as you can tell it only goes so far back) QB:Northcutt, Daniels, Jabo? HB: Carrington... big time back from McGallion Era FB: Thurman Blake, McWilliams TE: Zach Tompson, Dale Sexton, guy from 95ish? WR: Priest? Fisher, Moore, Joseph Daniels OT: Marek, Robinson? Robinson OG:Aycock, C: Cannon Nose:Swart DT: ? DE:Cox, Dan Walsh (small but technically perfect) LB: Dolan, Joe Sexton, Byrd, CB:Patton, S: Sonnenberg, K:Jabo, Harvey P:Hargraves Ret:? What say ye? I think most would fall between 90 and 2007 because of the time differences in athletes and the quality of teams. There were always studs of course! Or direct me to the topic where this was discussed already.
9. This years freshman have always been pretty stout, plus you've got a McSwain and a Sexton, good history in those names.
10. Man tough year to have a tough schedule...... maybe they could continue the game till the 8th graders are on varsity!!!!!
11. Cameron Swart - BH Class of 2007 videos just go to youtube and search his name Barbers Hill grad takes national honors By Michael Pineda Baytown Sun Published March 2, 2008 MONT BELVIEU — Cameron Swart is a big fish in a little pond — literally. The 5-10, 290-pound weightlifter is once again dominating the 20-and-under super heavyweight division. At the National Junior Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn., Swart took first place with a combined lift total of 345 kilos (759 pounds), easily outdistancing Caleb Ward of Wichita Falls who lifted 301 kilos (662 pounds). “There has been more competition in the past two years but everyone got older,†Swart said. It was the third consecutive national championship for Swart at the junior level and his sixth overall since he began to compete at the age of 11. Swart’s main competition now comes on the international stage. Currently ranked No. 2 in the world, he will be competing in the Junior World Championships in Cali, Columbia in June where he will look to become the first United States entry to medal since 2002. Tim Swords, Swart’s coach as well as a coach for the junior national team, feels that Swart is poised to not only medal but also break the national clean and jerk record of 202.5 kilos (446 pounds) held by Baytown Sterling graduate Josh Moreau. “He can break the record,†Swords said. “He is strong enough and athletic enough. He has gone from a talented athlete to the best in North and South America and I think he will medal in Columbia.†Last December at the American Open, Swart came close to breaking the clean and jerk record only to see his lift of 203 kilos (447 pounds) slip out of his hand. Swart also had the opportunity to compete in the Junior World Championships in Prague, a city in the Czech Republic. Swart finished fifth and learned what it will take to become one of the best in the world. “It’s pretty intense,†Swart said. “There is a lot of competition. It’s fun but it’s the world level so you can’t go out there and joke around. “I was really pleased with how I did. I could’ve finished third, but I missed some of my lifts.†Swart is a freshman at Lee College, where he attends classes in the mornings and then works out in the afternoon. Three times a week, he travels to League City for Olympic lifting. On Tuesdays and Thursdays he works out at Eagle Pointe in Mont Belvieu, where he focuses on the upper body and stomach. Since graduating last fall, Swart has added 30 pounds to his frame. This will be the last year that Swart will compete at the junior level. In 2009, he will begin competing at the senior level where he will work towards his next goal. “If I keep progressing, I should make the 2012 Olympics in London,†Swart said.
