Well, unfortunately you are probably right.  Again, how does home cooking suggest/recommend that home home cooking be removed?  Super could make that recommendation to the board.  To continue down this path is to have the fans, students and athletes suffer.  Plus -- suffer to have to continue watch your neighbor city have all the fun and excitement!

If all else fails we can rebel and support the team across the tracks😳

The superintendent and board members should know the pulse of the situation.  I believe they will either make the right decision or make no decision.  If there is a problem with the staff, they will pull the trigger.  If this is a phase of unmotivated kids, then we'll have to wait it out.  Someone needs to find that dang button.  Next year, I hope will come soon.

I'm in the camp that the school board does nothing...complacency (we made the playoffs!!!) and the good ol boy system are deeply entrenched at Nederland

"Starting" = playing regularly, in my way of thinking.  For example, there are linebackers that swap in and out, and rotate who plays the initial series.  Perhaps the same with some of the linemen.

But I know what you mean, and agree. Against Galena Park pretty much all of the defense and offense were back-ups to the back-ups, playing various positions. #11 was QB, eg; and I didn't know who the defensive linemen and linebackers were, and neither did the press box, he was just announcing numbers, and no names.

Shea returning has given the team a new spark, and the seniors can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think they are ready and anxious to get onto the field against this #1 ranked team and get it on.

I'm sure the coaches have picked up on this but when Byars is getting the ball he has a "tell" he gets a running start before he is handed the ball I'm sure the coaches have picked up on it too

I watched that video - I’m not sure what to think. On the one hand, I think SOC is clearly the best in the state, but their secondary is more vulnerable than last year, and they may even be someone we can run against. They may be a little smaller than last year too. But, they’re still big and fast, and extremely well-coached. What struck me was they seem to run a similar offense and defense to PNG - just a lot of power running with enough passes to keep the defense honest. The two teams are mirrors of each other (I think some of the coaches share coaching trees). The biggest difference, other than size and speed, is their qb runs , and not just in power wildcat formations. But, the overall concepts look the same.

I think Lovejoy might take them out. Melissa got handled , but they showed that throwing a variety of passes all over the field can expose SOC. Melissa didn’t start moving the ball until they committed to passing. Lovejoy is built for passing. They’re probably the only team in the state that matches SOC’s D1 secondary with a D1 receiving corp. Still, I’d have to predict a SOC victory when that game comes.

Lovejoy can run the football too Lovejoy's size is going to be a problem for SOC I think this year Lovejoy gets by SOC

+1...it's high school football in Mid-County...the talent comes and goes.  Things will even out and circle back to where Nederland has a few years of talented kids with size and speed walking the halls.  Then, all of a sudden, Monte Barrow will be a great coach again.  Right now, the Indians are riding the wave of talented kids, good size on the OL/DL, and excellent coaching.  Anyone who has watched PN-G and Nederland football since the 1950s knows that the good times and bad times swing back and forth.

    100% agree
