Don’t post much on the board anymore but I still come in from time to time. I moved (work related) but I always supported BISD sports and still do! Not going to lie I don’t remember Beaumont being this bad (Football wise) ever I don’t think. It was always at least one good team in the city. Now the season is still early and things could change but even last season it was something different. When Stowers left Central after going 4 rounds in 2009 I knew something was wrong. Central was going to be loaded with talent by a JV and Freshman team plus the ones already on varsity. When I talked to him he didn’t go into detail but mentioned how he had seen the writing on the wall from the admin of BISD, and I think the same could have been said for Stump when he left after being very successful at Westbrook. BISD was not willing to invest into the athletics like other school districts and when it came to Coaching hires, they always did the back door hiring the “friends” instead of the best candidates. Lord knows I loved Coach Andrew Washington but I think we all knew that was a comfort hire. Central won those games off talent, and when they played a better coached team it was never close. Westbrook with the talent they had starting in 2007 should have always been a powerhouse specially in this area Talent will never be an issue in Beaumont, don’t believe look at how many players are in the NFL just based on the last 10 years from Beaumont. It’s now on the Admin, Coaches and Parents. We need to invest in these kids. BISD Admin is more worried about doing things the cost efficient way, hiring coaches and building facilities, while letting great coaches leave. There is no way WB off a state championship game appearance should lose their HC to LCM (No offense). Parents are also imo a Huge factor in all this, (another story for another day). so in all it doesn’t matter if BISD had 1 HS or 5 if things don’t start getting better at the top and working it’s way down you will never see the success. There could be Beaumont HS and still be mediocre because we have an incompetent coach, sub par facilities, plus everything else that makes a successful program. That Athletic period must have changed within the last few years, in 2011 when my nephew was there he always talked about the athletic period. Smh Just hope a few kids get seen and get out individually. Sad to say

Think they have a great shot at a 6A ring!! I know they're a local powerhouse but we need to realize BU basketball is a powerhouse in Texas and a top team in the country!! Not to many teams they gone run into that's better. Maybe bigger but probably 1 team off the top of my head that's better (Duncanville) that's it. they have just as good of a chance then any team this season imo!! With all that said you can definitely have one of those Booker T Washington nights so, anything is possible

Its fairly simple "Coaching" These District has no program builders!! and the ones they have don't stay long. Its never been talent. If you think schools like Westlake, Liberty Hill, Midland Lee, Katy etc have more talent your crazy, but what they do have that makes them look better is dedication and buy in, and honestly I can't even be mad at the kids for not having that here, when the coaching is a revolving door in BISD???? Then not only does BISD want to hire their homeboys when its way better qualified candidates who know how to build up programs, to the point coaches don't even want to apply in the city anymore but they lowball coaches with sub-par salaries so who would want to come here??? Im just tell this story and let y'all figure it out. In 2008-2011 my nephew attended Central when coach Stowers was the coach. His parents was taking him and his siblings for summer vacation but instead of going he wanted to stay with me to attend summer workouts mind you he was a sophomore, not even on varsity. When I would go drop him off most of the team was at workouts or on the field, so much so they had to divide the kids into different workout groups which the older kids said hadn't been done since they arrived. Then 7on7 was mandatory so when they went 4 rounds in 09 I wasn't really surprised. those kids were brought in and believed in Stowers. Im not sure the kids are there right now thus the results we've seen this this past years. This is also how schools like Katy work. My nephew ended up getting a scholarship, so during the summer he would come live with me in Houston to train with Kerry Bennett (Orange Tx native) at a gym he had in Katy. He would tell me after him and other college players from various schools would finish their workout sessions the whole varsity Katy football team would meet up there at 5 for workouts every other day during the summer on top of the team workouts they had already did earlier that morning. for their 2nd workout of the day before 7 on 7 practice. All Player Led!!! The coaches had nothing to do with it, and when a player didn't show up his teammates would deal with him... Thats It that's the difference. When players are brought in, the parents are Brought in and it can change everything and that starts from the top Coaching!!

Lets not act like WB just didn't go to State a 3-4 years ago beating the likes of Austin Westlake & Katy Tompkins along the way...I think we sometimes take for granted the amount of talent in this area, because its local. I always think of those Craig Stump Brook teams and how much talent they had. I think you had 3 or 4 players play on Sundays off of one team. Most cities cant even say that in their whole existence . . Not to mention a big advantage Brook always has is going Small 6A, now I'm not saying they would Beat the likes of Atascocita or NS or make it to a state championship but to dismiss that because they're "Westbrook" is crazy to me

I agree And Nick knows that, and if NIL doesn't get rules in place its only a matter of time before Texas boosters stop being so "uppity" thinking they can get anyone because they're "Texas" and start playing the game...If that happens a Texas vs Tx A&M championship is not a matter of if but when or a string of NCAA Championships all from Two schools lol in the same state J/P Lol . . . . . . or am I

Like ive stated before and will continue to state. I do agree with Scat_Trap to a certain extent. I just believe you have the people in power who don't care about football at BU. When Central/Ozen had good coaches, they were an area power, and was always in a quest for a District championship and at least 2 rounds in the playoffs. So now you telling me they combined and it gets worst?? hmm idk about that

Imo Brook will surprise alot of ppl, who dont know what they have coming up,...You never know with kids, but if the ones I'm hearing attend Brook like they're suppose to, we may have a new king of the Hill in SETX basketball

I remember after Arceneaux hit the game winning shot everyone thought he was transferring. Just give it a rest guys, these are neighborhood kids, not kids playing from different cities or something like that. Homegrown kids who wanted to go to (at the time Central, Ozen or Brook) I don't think we will have to worry about transferring out to schools like IMG, Oak Hill or etc. like other schools do.
