I have to say graduated in 1984 from TJ. All great teachers, even the ones I didn't like. My Favorites were Mr. Tolar, Mr Sell and Mr. Lee (who got me interested in computers and convinced me to take his computer class) while staying after school in his room, after being sent there by Mrs. McMillian for acting up in math class......lol

I absolutely believe that. I'm not sure if it is done to be racist, I think more along the lines of comfortable. Young managers usually hire people they are comfortable with. For example, Wendy's in Port Arthur. They have a Hispanic manager and 99% of their employees are, yes, Hispanic......Next door at Taco Bell, mostly black, I can only assume the manager is black. I don't think either manager hates the other races, I think they hired who they felt comfortable with.

Demographics in the workplace. If 76% of America is white and 15% is black and 9% other, would it be acceptable and predictable to have a company with 76 whites, 15 blacks and 9 Asian or Hispanic? I think some people expect 15% of the population to represent 50% (EQUAL) in the workforce to whites. I don't think it makes mathematical sense.

I agree you can't control outside influences....or a teenage mind sometimes....... But, how about getting a quarterly bonus for retention or based on a certain percentage of students that maintain C average or above. The more in C average or above, the more your bonus. Part of my district manager's bonus is paid on how many employees in their district bonus. A great incentive to work and train employees. That might be a good model for schools and teachers. This quarterly bonus would be in addition to a normal raise schedule.

Here is my question on the jobs issue with minorities. While it may seem unbalanced because you don't see "equal".....how does 14-15% of the population represent an even representation in the job market?

Kids have always been my soft spot. The only time I physically let my emotions show during my ambulance days was over a child. It was a drowning, kid drowned in his car seat and when we got the car pulled out of the canal, Mom was laying over the front seat from what appeared to be her trying to get the child out. I can still picture it my head like it happened yesterday.

He will be a huge influence in the 2022 House/Senate elections and as history will have it, the minority usually comes out on top.....Deserved or not, if Republicans gain control of house and senate, Trump will get the credit....So, expect an EVEN MORE lame duck President than you have now. The 2024 elections......lets see, DeSantis 75% and Trump 72% according to the latest poll in the news with Republican voters......Imagine if they were on the same ticket.....look at the influence Trump has with the Republican party. As much as you WANT him to go away, he's not.

I cannot imagine the guilt this Father must have for his decision to react the way he did. I like to think I wouldn't hesitate....but it's the knowing "when" for me. Too early it could be deemed murder, too late and you become the victim.

My greatest fear of carrying a gun is being forced to use it. As you stated above, the "what if's" have me almost paranoid. The people that say they would have no problem shooting someone, have not thought it out.....IMO

Based on the article, the victim was laying by his vehicle......That is not a great start to self defense......based on the only fact from the article.
