True but they have deserved more support than they have received through the years.  It's a shame when a little dribblers tournament game can have more fans in the stands than a high school team ranked #1  in the state.  I have been to some games within 30-40 minutes of silsbee and seen less than I would say 30-40 Tiger fans.

You better go check his offers for football! Texas A&M, UCLA, Texas Tech, Missouri, Georgia, University of Houston and many more to come!

I agree with a lot of what you said. But saying Babin inherited a team that Haynes built up?  You mean like not preparing, practicing and trying to win against PNG, Central and Nederland because those games are "not winnable" and he didn't want to get key players hurt? If that is building a team up, then No Thank You.  I'll just stop there because I'd hate for this to turn into a Haynes bashing thread.

I thought I explained it above in two separate posts but I probably did a poor job of it.  To put it simply, if the move is deemed to have been solely motivated by one child's athletic prospects and the other child is just a tag along for convenience, then the move is not made for child 2's athletic purposes.  Merely being related does not mean you necessarily even considered HIS athletic prospects when making that decision.  However, I am merely speculating in this particular case.  As I say, I DO know of another case where the UIL made a similar ruling based on the scenario I laid out.

Very incorrect.  The opposite is true.  Every child's case is supposed to be taken on an individual basis.  If they didn't do that with your boys, they did not follow proper protocol.

Unfortunate for the kid that was ruled ineligible. Parents should educate themselves on the rules better so that the kids want have to lose a year of varsity sports no one lose her but the kid.

Pool play! I say again, pool play!!!
Just cannot have a bracket play tourney with just 8 teams. Nobody wants to play in that format. Coaches want games. Minimum 4-5 games. Has nothing to do with officials.
Only getting three games is just not worth it.

Where is the Nederland coach going?
Also, Lumberton would have had a winning record the last few years, no matter who was there. They were talented and have plenty of talent coming up.

We ran players 10 deep @ Lincoln for years, well ya'll know the rest.  The only problem that can arise from that is guys not knowing their pecking order. We live in an age now where guys don't know their role. Unsung Heroes always seem to Rise up in the playoffs, the Million dollar question is, can the kid wait for the opportunity? Silsbee has quite a bit of talent and I expect a return to State. I think they can cut down the nets if they don't implode from within. Good luck Tigers

We were Senior heavy last year but those seniors had the better part of their soph & jr years wasted.  I'd rather have a younger team that has been coached the right way over a veteran team coached the wrong way.  But that's just my opinion.

So which kids at UT, or wherever,  lose their scholarship when these kids make the switch. This late in the game,  nobody is keeping scholarship spots open.

Good hire for Jasper. He does have Head Coach experience... He was the head coach at WOS before he left for the Dallas area for several years and then came back as an assistant.

Having been on both sides of this question, having had years to reflect and learn some things, it's a no win situation, (for everyone involved) if not handled 100% correctly. Anything short of 100% opens them up for grave consequences.
The law states, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty....the people convict in the court of public opinion......so what is the school to do? If they discipline, then the justice system either finds not guilty or even screws it up and lets them off, even if they did do it.....the accused sues the school...IF, the school does not discipline, the accused is convicted, then the victim sues the school.
Then comes Title IX (most think it is just a sports rule) where females are protected, and are to receive equal opportunity, not just in sports but also for an education. So,one might ask how do sexual crimes and Title IX coexist? That's the real question. How do you remove the threat of the female (the accused) as to keep her feeling safe, and knowing the school did all they can to provide such protections, without violating the accused rights of "presumed innocence" until they are actually found guilty, if they even are?
This is a similar situation we were faced with, I did what I thought was right, so did the SISD.....I think we both got some things wrong, in the end....there were NO winners....

Not much difference at all really. No "charges" were brought against the Baylor players until after they were no longer players at Baylor. It is said that Baylor failed to investigate. Well, the police were investigating, why did Baylor have to investigate? Well, that's the same thing Silsbee said, the police and DA's office were handling the case, there was nothing the school could do, per se without any "charges".
With that said, in Silsbee's defense, once the DA's office screwed it up, it did limit the schools "legal" ability toward the accused. UNTIL, the special prosecutor did get an indictment, by that point the player was no longer a student at SHS (the same as at Baylor) However, like so many now want to blame Baylor for not doing more....the same could be said of Silsbee.
ALSO, whereas the connection mentioned by others....Briles and the former SHS AD were roommates during their college careers...and it is believed that the former AD was in some way going to benefit from that relationship had Briles remained as HC at Baylor........it is also said the lack of discipline at Baylor by Briles is the cause of said culture....it is also said that the lack of discipline at SHS was the reason for the resignation of the former HC/AD of SHS.......
With that said....I might know a little about exactly how this went down at SHS!
AND, Those wanting to bail on Baylor now has NOTHING to do with the situation going on there EXCEPT that Briles is gone.
Disclaimer: This culture of blame the victims and protect the superstar athletes is not limited to Baylor and/or SHS. It is a national problem (all sports , mostly football), these 2 schools at their respective levels just got caught and got more publicity.
    - carry on

This is funny stuff.. Boutte is one of the all time greats!  There is no debating that.  Even Boutte will tell you he has been blessed with talent.  Boutte just like plenty of other coaches has had teams that over achieve and a few that under achieved.  Boutte would not win state in Lumberton or Nederland just like no one else has.  However, there is no guarantee that English or any other coaches in this area would win state at Ozen or Lincoln (back in the day).  Is Boutte solely responsible for Perkins development?.  No.. Did he play a role in it?. Absolutely.. If Boutte gets credit for Perkins success then he gets credit for his short comings too right?. Thats why all this is comical.. Coaches play a role in all players both good and bad.. To win a state championship takes as much luck as anything.. The ball will have to bounce your way at some point along the way to winning one.. A coach's greatness cannot be defined by state rings alone especially at the high school level.. Plenty of great coaches who havent won and plenty who have.. It is just as hard to coach a team loaded with talent as it is to coach a team with very little talent.. Each has a different set of battles but both are equally difficult.

I like the fact that alot of coaches are taking their program back to the way thing use to be done. I am an on the fence advocate of AAU ball only because I am a true advocate of team basketball.  AAU ball is awesome for allowing kids the opportunity to play against the best and get more exposure. but it will never replace the bond a school team can have by playing together throughout the summer.
