Nice article in the Enterprise on L-Train's young gunslinger. I know they are facing adversity, but don't Sleep on these determined young men. Many would have transferred or quit, these guys keep fighting not only for themselves, but for the younger Raiders that follow. Looking forward to seeing the Raiders this season, Nice uniforms

Its getting to where football players can go to camps and 7 on 7 and get college offers. So, lets include almighty football in your equation. 

1st off, thank you so much for the thoughts and prayers, my son was up and walking around today. Dr said he will come home Monday and a slight chance by the weekend... Might even be ready to play by district... Now, where is the "Hawk Nation" you ask????? They are here..... Watching and waiting..... Big BIG year for the HAWKS!!!! West Orange who? Who is Jasper? Dude, we fitna light this board up....... In due time..... We are letting all you professional "predictors" have your little fun.....  Then it will be game time..... Got a good report today. Dr. said he is stable and the antibiotics are working. May be able to bring him home as early as Friday.... He actually got up and walked down the hallway this morning with his dear ol dad... Thank you all for the well wishes, he is not out of the woods yet but two days of good reports after 5 days of bad news is awesome...

Exactly. Why get on here and post. All y'all want to do is tell us that we only have moral victories and can't compete. Sometimes it is best not to post and let actions speak. Proud to be a Hawk, no matter what sport or record!

Just got word B. Edelmon's son had some post op complication and is back in the hospital...not sure if the prognosis but I'm sure they could use some prayers!

Foster is where Andy Martel is going to school.  They should be very good this year.

Wow, kind of humbling to see my letter on here. Yes  Mrs. Gilstrap's son was given a copy of the original letter along with over 250 comments many of which praised the compassion of his mother Mrs. Gilstrap. I was told he was moved beyond words. He has sinced joined facebook (at 77 years old) and has witnessed this letter go viral on multiple teaching facebook sites as well as Godvine with teachers from all over the world urging their fellow teachers to be a "Mrs. Gilstrap".
 
I have also become fb friends with several other family members of this wonderful lady.

When my kids were young (son and daughter), I pushed them pretty hard.  I had no illusions about either of them playing at a big time college program or even receiving college scholarships.  My son (football) is the kind of kid who works his butt off, but is missing some essential athleticism.  My daughter is quite athletic (basketball and track), but probably lacks the size+skill set to play at the next level.  I pushed them hard because I wanted them to know that regardless of their talent level they had to devote themselves to improving if they wanted to play. This is I think the lesson that sports can teach our kids.  Success is usually the result of hard work and feeling like you accomplished your goals (whatever they are)  through your own effort is valuable.
 
My wife and I feel that winning is important and that feeling like you contributed to a team victory is its own reward.  Hard work and playing hard are essential parts of that.  We are honest with our kids.  When they play well, we praise them, but when they dont we tell them. When they make excuses we call them out.  When they get hurt we make it clear that they are still expected to play if they can (there is a difference between hurt and injured). I do some yelling from the stands -- usually I yell hustle, or go rebound ( yelling at your son during a football game is pretty pointless).
Perfect play and results are nearly impossible, but you can play your hardest every time.

Didn't Thomas retire about middle of 2012.  That would be 2 years prior to announcing plans to retire.  If that is correct, $1,739,506 came under Thomas. I would not call that the beginning of Chagois tender......and I bet if you ask Chagois, he would not want any part of it either......lol

I guess the Beaumont Enterprise's story about PN-G being the only team in SE Texas to advance was a little premature, or lack of research.
 

Why not name it Beaumont ISD Stadium and have a plaque or Honor Wall naming and picturing all of the people in Beaumont who have contributed to the history and legacy of BISD including Levias, Durley, Ozen, Smith, Shaver, Carroll, Chargois, et al.  People make too much of an issue about names, titles, logos, team names, etc.  It is a nice facility.  Throw up an Honor Wall and name those in Beaumont that contributed to the foundation and achievements of BISD.  Next, move on....

Make fun of him all you want but I have to agree Bedlemon does not hide who he is, nor do I for that matter (I have explained my name in several previous post) and as far as his sons go I can promise you they are not embarassed by dad, those boys can hold their own....
It will be nice to see all the Silsbee people getting off of the HJ jock straps for awhile, I mean we are no longer in your district so there is really no reason for you to follow or comment on our threads anymore right????
Unless of course my hunch is correct and you all have Hawk Envy (which is what I am betting the case to be.
 
Now there is a drawback on this site to being a Hawk, you don't get the advantage of having that Silsbee Admin. backing to delete anything that may hurt your feelings so you have to toughen up a little...

Bigcam this stuff is Hilarious! I am not always right, no one is but after coaching several of these kids through the years, I should know something about what Ozen talent level is an capabilities. People want kids to already be able to do certain things sometimes instead of teaching. Good coaching brings the best out of people and you do it all the time so I know you can relate! Some of these guys are amature spectators and amature critiques at best!

If he is gonna try to play a sport at the next level, it's gonna be at football.  And I think he probably knows that already.  Doesn't matter which one he loves more.  JMO

She is playing AAU, her dad is the all star coach and AAU coach. She is a great kid and Athlete. She is in 4th grade and has been playing older girls for several years now. She is special!

Ahhh, now I see and feel how an addict reacts w/o his "hit."
