Very impressive start of the year for B.H.
B.H. coaches understand setting up an early season tough schedule makes the team better for district & playoffs.
100% correct and to be winning makes it even sweeter. I expect when the rankings come out tomorrow they will be top 3 in the state.

Nederland 7 wins in Lufkin Tourney were vs.
3A Woodville
3A Tatum
4A Splendora
3A New Diana
2A Timpson
3A Huntington
3A Tatum
Nederland 1 loss was vs.
5A Lancaster
Yikes so the only 5A team they played they lost to but beat the 2A-4A's. I get gaining some confidence and some wins but not sure that does a whole lot for you. Id probably skip that tournament next year.

BH has some very nice wins on its resume this season!
-
Did Nederland beat any 5A schools or just 3A's?
-
My thought too, why is Nederland playing in this level of a tournament? That isn't getting them ready to play in district.

@Pkvalt I thought yall beat Pearland, I swear I saw it on AES as a win?

No one in BH is wishing Westerburg was still around. Abseck may not succeed as much as we all wish he should but its not from a lack of putting in the work. He puts in the hours and demands the same from his staff. Parents and players cant ask anymore than that. Westerburg on the other hand was a rude self centered jerk who treated all the other coaches and sports like they were beneath him. No one misses that dude at all. He just got butthurt when his plan for Jr to take over at BH was thrown in the trash by the supt.

Nothing I have seen from Sterling leads me to believe they should be considered the dark horse to make any playoffs unless we have expanded to 6 teams.
Their QB, who was pretty much a one man show, graduated. I don't see how they will be as good as they were last year even.
I agree, lots of staff turnover as well plus head coach seems in over his head.

How did everyone's scrimmages go?

BH has a hard time beating Hardin straight up. Not even 3 transfers to EC would be enough to beat Hardin. Trust me, our girls played in their summer league this past year and its not fun playing them.
Wait what? BH has a hard time beating Hardin? Come on man. Hardin was good the last two years but will take a step back but being good at their level and the 5A level are two different things. Summer league means nothing when half the team isnt the varsity team.

Separation if you admittedly never watched HS hype vids then you probably won’t be able to understand why BH’s is laughable. Most teams show big hits and big plays throughout their season and maybe the scoreboard of some crucial games. For example showing the first qtr score from the FBM game and then the final score. You know stuff that hypes up the fan base. Not some highlights from a home loss to a div rival. I think BH is def on the rise but that hype vid is comical and proves that CHS lives in their heads.
The school didnt put that out, a parent trying to sell his business did. He only filmed a few games so his highlights are only of the games he attended.

Barbers Hill didn't have Volleyball in the early 90s.
I believe volleyball was started until 2000-2001 ish at BH.

I didnt see any disrespect. The atmosphere was amazing, it was standing room only and electric the entire game. I have never seen the field house like that and I hope it is a sign of things to come with BH joining the Baytown schools in District next year. Both communities showed up and with the band, cheerleaders and students....It was a awesome environment.
What I did see was BH battle back from a 15-0 and 17-1 deficit to get with in 1 going into the 4th quarter. BH could not make a shot early and missed a ton of free throws. BH had no business being in the game with the size advantage GCM had but credit to those kids. They played their butts off and could have easily won that game had the ball fell the right way.
Two bizarre plays. One on a layup that would have tied the game, I dont know if GCM goal tended the ball but somehow the ball literally stopped and say on the rim for 3 seconds before it fell out. Huge bucket that didnt go down.
Last, down 3, BH gets fouled shooting a 3 with less than 3 seconds to play. Kid missed the first, makes the second, shoots the ball off the front of the rim and goes flying in to get the rebound. One ref I think called he left too early and one I think called a foul on GCM. After talking about it the refs did a do over! I have never seen that before in my life. The kid made that free throw to make the score 50-51. BH quickly fouled and GCM made one of 2.
BH got the ball to just over mid court for a last second 3 but it was long.
It was a heck of a game.

Yikes, not much of a game plan eh?

- Section
- Region III
- Division
- TX Division 5A-2
That ain't right.

Hoping for the best next week. Lost a lot from last year with srs and their leadership plus losing the big WR hurts.
