So does the coaching staff see that there are some individuals that don’t care? Or does the staff just not care themselves that these kids are on the field?

Hard question to answer. I know the one thing you ask of Leaders is to lead by example and others will follow. I’ll speak for my sons when I say if the coaches told them to run thru a brick wall, they would dam sure try, because that’s what the coach asked of them and that’s the way I taught them. I’m not so sure how many others are on the same page like that. I have a Senior and a Freshman and tell them both to take care of the only 2 things they can control and that’s their own ATTITUDE and WORK ETHIC and hope that people follow.

Refs didn’t miss extra points, refs didn’t get personal foul penalties for loosing their cool, refs didn’t miss blocks, refs didn’t miss tackles.

facemask was legit, but to put that on refs.... we need to execute better.

HJ needs to win next week.

My two cents is your’re exactly right. The refs were pretty one sided with I think 20 HJ penalties to 3 Orangefield, but dang it we’ve got to quit shooting our selves in the foot. So many unsportsmanlike and personal fouls negated big plays. When you have so many that play on both sides of the ball that kills you. I see several who are playing their hearts out for the program and several playing for themselves. Too talented of a group to call it anything else. We have to make adjustments next week or my sons Senior year will be shortened. Although I’ve heard some don’t want to win because the playoff game is the same night as Cody Johnson concert.  Ha Ha pathetic

Props to Pomirko and the rest of the HJ Crew! They played a hell of a game! Demons95, It was nice to see the old Pomirko/Morris matchup one last time! You have raised a great young man and he's a true leader! Made some awesome plays Friday night! Shout out to Coach Mo, you have done the same as well, yalls kids have given us some great moments in local Little League and High School Ball!

Yeah always fun. Those who know me know I was JJ. Great group of kids and I just pray that the boys stay healthy and have a good finish to their Senior years. Also pray that they have an opportunity to further their dreams at the next level. Love that WOS is on our schedule every year. It’s fun to play against the best no matter the outcome. Good luck to WOS and my HJ boys the rest of the year.

  4. HJ has more than one speedster. That speedster just happened to carry the ball. A few Terrible referee calls in my Charles Barkley voice and the Mustangs are on their heels. Quarterback was on the ground with possession of the football, whistle blown then WOS recovers. That call was a game changer. Say what you wanna, but had the refs not blown that call Coach T would have been giving a post game loss speech.

  5. After reading back thru the post, the fact that it was a fundraiser that all teams participated in is where the problem is. I don't think those kids or parents feel like they were entitled to be on the field, but at least wear their jersey and support the boys. If it was insinuated that all kids would go then they should have put them on a bus and let them go. I think this was something spawned from nothing and you have a guy person from another school worried about what goes on at a different school. I do know this that Coach Sloan and Coach Trotter are very approachable.  If you have questions, ask them personally.  If you have have comments, tell them personally. How can we as parents expect to move forward if we don't communicate.  Don't make something out of nothing and obviously that's what happened here. Title of post: Huffman beats HJ to clinch a tie for first place. Next post: I hear HJ Coaches were mean.  HMMM can't imagine how that was turned around.

First off they did dress the juniors who are on JV and moved them up for the rest of the season. The rest of the JV team is made up of freshman. The reason they did not dress them was because they had a game on Tuesday. You can only play one weekday game during a school week and if they had dressed them for this game then they would have all been ineligible for the Tuesday game. Huffman did not dress their JV either. Many of the JV kids came to the game on the football bus or with parents. The plan I have heard is to continue trying to do this program. That will give the kids that didn't play this year incentive to stay with the program and work towards playing at Minute Maid.

Dammit,  I was hoping you'd say our AD hated JV baseball players and could care less about building a program. Ha Ha. That would've made for a better story. Thats a boring logical answer. Sorry folks nothing here. Move along

    See. I knew I was a genius

Hell, I say dress 'em all.  Throw your JV & sophomore pitchers down in the bull-pen with the catchers along with the JV coach.  Encourage the kids in the program to work hard, and reward them with this trip.  I am not a member of the district, but have friends there and in the program.  Those kids had been looking forward to that.  Then to have the AD say no - just boggles the mind.  Know there has to be another side (AD / Administrative) and just would love to hear it.

Just wondering if all coaches do it. Was Huffmans JV there dressed out? When WOS played in Cowboys Stadium for State Championship in football was the whole Freshman and JV team there dressed out? Why do they not give letterman jackets to Freshman? How come you can't get inducted into National Honor Society until you're a Junior? I am in the district and that's my point.  If it were my son, and it will be next year as an underclassmen, I would love for him to see that if I continue to work hard I get to play here in the future.  If everyone get's the same reward, what motivation is there to work?

  9. While some logic sounds good on paper, hopefully this will be an ongoing experience and those said kids will have an opportunity to EARN that experience.  HJ did have a Sophomore team too, so how can JV dress out and not the Sophomore team dress out and go as well? This is by NO means a reflection of the AD. Just my two cents

Jim why do you want Hardin on the schedule so bad? Don't you want your son to play in a game that will prepare him for teams like WOS and others that hopefully HJ will see in the playoffs? Or do you just want him to have a good record his senior year? I'm sure BlueOwl would have much rathered a worse record with DuBois if that meant being more prepared and going further in the playoffs. Goodluck to your son this year, hoping the best for all of the kids.

]Wrong Jim Undiscovered if you're referring to me Pomirko.  I dont give a damn who they play. I love Friday nights and I love watching kids compete and come together for one goal. So unless there is another Dad named Jim you're referring to with a Senior, you got me confused.

All I know of his him but he is a huge loss.

He sure is.  Great kid and very explosive.  Someone is going to have to step up and fill those big shoes.  Hate to lose a kid like that in any sport, but certainly wish him the best of luck regardless.

  12. Jack Dallas may throw for 1000. Why would you bring a QB up that can pass to run this offense. I saw the whole game, I saw the whole Jasper game, and I saw the whole Lumberton scrimmage. I will still go by my first post. Sloan gets a pass for this year and he knows it, he is doing what most coaches would do. Dubois did the same thing to the Sr's when he took the team over change of QB, Change of RB's all of them under class men. It is very seldom good news for a Sr. when a new coach takes over.

The only reason I brought it up because you talked about a non-existing passing game. Regardless of how it turns out I will support the kids and the coaches and hope for a injury free season for all.  I will continue to have my son work to the best of his God given ability and hope that eventually he can contribute a small piece to the grand scheme which is the TEAM.

  13. Didn't strike a nerve at all. Just stating a fact that if coach thought someone else should be there then he'll put them there. I can think of several talented sophomores that are on JV including a quarterback who knows they system very well and can throw the ball and a Freshman running back that is a beast. If he was only worried about the future those kids would be playing as well. The throwing game is not what hurt us it is containing the run. Our overall play as a TEAM has to improve not just the play of sophomores which is who you targeted. If you cant see that you're not much of a fan.  A fan watches and sees the whole game not just the play of a few. When you see the few times we had breakaways and kids fell, when you see missed blocks, when you see 8 and sometimes 9 in the box and we have guys coming thru the line untouched to our quarterback who is a phenomenal athlete and he's having to run for his life, those are things a fan sees and that they will improve as a TEAM not just the young'uns. By the way WOS passed for about 400 yards on a Senior and Junior secondary at PNG. One game at a time Band Camp, One game at a time.
