  1. Unless the game of the year is a game that actually means something. You can't imagine what it meant to the Bears. First district win since 2006.
  2. wanted to bump this post. I don't think the majority of people reailze what is mandated by the state and federal govt. Schools are held accountable for so many things most people don't know about. Discipline, whether on or off campus, is one of them. A student has a 'right' to attend a safe school. Districts are judged/rated by the actions of the students that attend their schools. Even if a student does something off campus, a district can be held 'accountable' in the sense that the student attends that school. If he isn't 'safe' to be around off campus, is he 'safe' to be around on campus? Schools have to report these things to the state...and they are rated if they are a safe school or not. Think about this, if a student is arrested off campus...say for something to do with weapons...and he comes to school while awaiting trial...would you consider him a risk to other students? What if the arrest was a sexual crime? Would you want the student attending class and setting next to your daughter? The schools have to do what they have to do to try to keep the other students safe. Something done off campus can affect things on campus. By law, students are required to attend school. If a student is arrested for a crime, but is not in jail...is awaiting trial, served his time, etc...then the school has to serve the student. But it's not always in the best interest of other students to have them in the general population. Hence the laws that certain things done by students, on OR off campus, mandate that they be placed in alternative education, suspened, and sometimes expelled. And, if a school DIDN'T take action with some of these kids, and something terrible happened at school...what would we be saying then? That the school knew about the problem student and should've done something? Obviously I'm not talking about non threatening discipline problems. But, there are students out there who are a threat to other students. Also, another thing to consider. If these problem students drop out of school, then the district is held accountable for that also. Dropout rate affects TAKS ratings...I don't know that most people realize that TAKS ratings are more than just how well the students perform on the test. So, schools will also do what they can to keep these kids from being considered dropouts...alternative education, GED programs, juvenile dention, etc. I don't agree with it all. It's not a school's fault if a student is arrested or does something stupid off campus. It's not necessarily their fault if a student drops out of school. But they are held accountable for it. Good info, and your right, there's more to it than most know.
  3. What a great game!! The comeback win is well deserved and represents the way the Bears have fought all year. Again, well deserved. Tough loss for Livingston.
  4. I'm confused ??? Not a single post from AAW on this thread. The way he claims to really be a supporter/admire of the program I would have at least expected a kudos.
  5. I kept expecting Kimbo to tap out due to a belly smuther maneuver
  6. I agree with both of you. He does have a good attitude and personality but I was not impressed with either of them. Roy looked sloppy and limited. Kimbo looked like he had the potential for a good stand up but looked to reserved.
  7. Every game Friday night was extremely close and I expect the rest of the season going down to the wire. The refs are going to catch heck this season with such close games. They're going to get the blame for many close losses.
  8. The HS was not annexed because there was no revenue to benefit the city.
  9. Crouch interviewed this morning on KOGT and said most were healthy.
  10. Eighteen pages and counting... I'm ashamed to say I've read every post (much of them stupid). Train wreck is correct.
  11. I heard they got off to really good start but bombed this last game with a dozen or so out sick
  12. Well Dog, I read all of last weeks jabbing between you, Gas and others and personally thought they were kind of unfairly ganging up on you. This week I see where you came to a WOS thread looking for Gas to throw personal insults and looking for heated confrontation. What's wrong, your visits to Nederland threads are not very fullfilling? I stand corrected in my opinion last week.

  14. Bears\Crouch showing some class taking a knee at the end in their first win when they could have probably scored. Congrats on the first of many many wins BC should be OK in 3A
  15. Many schools recruit a kicker from the socker team. Oh wait,,,,
  16. Heading into the fourth game of the season it doesn't seem the penalty problem has improved for WOS since Nederland. And it is true, they never have a good kicking game (band affected or not) We tend to forget WOS has a first year OC. I'm sure there's still a lot to learn from the athletes to the coaching. We all know WOS has great talent, just have to put the rubber to the pavement so to speak. Congrats to both teams for a hard fought game.

  18. I-10 east to Orange take 16th st exit. turn left at 16th st/HWY 87 (same street) Just a few miles north on 87. School on left
  19. After this game Crouch probably saw two of the same things I did. Two keys to keeping it close will be to limit turnovers and penalties. With out the Nederland turnovers it would have been closer and WOS had a lot penalties. With the coaching history I'm going give Crouch enough credit to not play into the WOS expected game plan. It could be close.
