There were some highs and lows in WEC 48. There were a couple of really good fights. Aldo was much better than I thought even though he showed no killer finishing instinct. Faber's game plan was terrible and he did not look good. Brown was also dissapointing.

Last night Dana said Shields was his. I'd like to GSP welcome him to the UFC

It's a relief to see a string of wins after such a string of losses. To early to really get my hopes up but they have been fun to watch. Good to have Berkman back.
-
Several sights have Sonnen ranked as the #2 or 3 MW. I'm not sure why but I'm not really familure with him. Bottom line is no one in this devision can touch Silva and I dodn't know why he isn't moving up. I thought when he took on Forrest he was going to move his way up; I guess not.

Mo Lawal defeats Mousasia, Melendez defeats Aoki

Yea, that was the most exciting part of an agrivating main event. Dan came out like the dominating fighter he can be and then he was done. He looked out of shape because he had nothing the rest of the fight, and then Shields was really agrivating. He had him mounted the rest of the fight and kept throwing sissy strikes; Looked like he was scared to hit Dan. He must've thrown 50 shots to the head and not one of them did any damage. I was really disappointed until mayhem showed up. -
And the comeback begins. ;)

They lost 2-1. Closest loss so far; I see improvement. :'( ::)

The topic is PFP. Andersons last fight did not help his case. Couture would hang on him against the fence for five rounds. Well maybe just three since it would not be a title fight.

You have tyo wonder whats going on behind the seens with Silva. May be this was a fight he didn't want to begin with nad maybe it was a fight that Dana made happen. Could be a power struggle. I thought it was funny though how ticked off Dana was after the fight. He was NOT happy with Silva.
-
The Stros usually get off to a slow and then pick up momentum. I don't have that feeling this year.
-
I agree with you on the decission but it doesn't help his PFP case
-
Could be, but in his last fight Shogun came very close to beeting him; some say he did. Their next fight will tell the tail.

How can I change my vote? >:(
-
A lot of fighters, experts and fans have different opinions as to who is the best PFP fighter in the world. In my opinion a lot has to do with who wants that title the most. Most are happy with holding a division title and then just lay claim to the PFP title without the need to prove it. Silva could be but he sure didn’t prove his case in his last fight. When he chose to move up in class and fought Forrest like he did he had my vote because he showed a hunger like he had something to prove. This time he was totally different fighter. GSP could be but while he is a technically perfect fighter I don’t see that hunger to state his case for PFP. He may have to move up in class or change to a more aggressive style to convince others he deserves that claim. Fedor could be but he’ll never convince others until he takes on UFC heavyweights. Lesner could be but doesn’t have enough fights under his belt and unless he ever gets a chance with Fedor there will always be that question. Penn was a possible but that’s gone after his recent loss. Many want the title but it just doesn’t appear anyone want to prove it. What are your thoughts? Is there anyone I left out?

Well, I missed the live feed. I'm suprised Silva allowed it to go the distance.

Hopefully, I'm going to say today. Got a flame thrower up against a 47 year old. Of course that means nothing with no runs. 3 out of 4 games with zero runs is not going to cut it.

Thomas another in the WO-S talent pool
Actually Kickie the majority of the DB's are 6' and over in the Big 12. Even at 6' we're still talking 4" over 5'8". Big difference in my book. As a matter of fact, I only found one DB at 5" 8". You might want to go back and reread my original post. I did try to qualify the size by saying he must be real fast and a great leaper. Again, one poster pointed out the speed and athletic ability of the young man. No disrespect to the young man. It is just unusual to find a DB at 5' 8" in the Big 12. I hope for the WOS faithful he is a late grower and makes everyone proud. Again good luck on your state run.
"He is starting to receive some interest from Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M, and has discussed attending the same school as one of his current teammates". Maybe you should contact the teams list above and ask them what they see in him; or better yet, state your case to them about his small size. ;) -
Two games now without a run through seven innings

Championship Game Thread/DUKE WINS!!!!!
mat replied to bullets13's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Great game and evidently the best team won. One thing is for certain; Butler handled the pressure and never crumbled to the #1 powerhouse like most experts expected. I was certainly pulling for the underdog but congrats to all you Duke fans. -
Finally!! Now maybe WOS athletes can get some scouting attention and get some scholarships. ::)
Well, I guess I have to change my appearance before I venture back into West Orange. Yes, w. I am a fan of Ronnie Anderson. I imagine there are quite a few of those. I am also a fan of stability. That is how it has something to do with this. Stable programs have done well as WO-S. When those programs lost their stability, like the revolving door of baseball coaches that followed (including good coaches like Coach Thompson, Sam Moore, Steve Parkhurst and the like) that program had fallen on hard times. I would like to see some stability in the WO-S athletic program and I don't see that turning the program over to 61 year old will bring that. If someone were to tell me that Coach Thompson was committed to carry on 8-10 years after Coach Hooks hung it up, I would happily reverse myself. I just don't know that will happen.
Your logic could be veiwed as age discriminating. To just pass T over and just assume he would leave in a couple of years after getting the job he's probably been waiting for his whole career just doesn't sound practical or fair. And to just assume Newton will be around for ten plus years doesn't sound practical or fair either, especially if he has a couple of very successful basketball seasons. And we sure don't know the facts. Newton may have been given this newly created postion to keep him from moving on after his first successful season here; you never know.
I think it will be a very good fight, lesnar gameplan is easy get carwin on ground and pound, but can he get carwin down without taking a hard shot and getting stunned.
...plus, what kind of shape will he be in after his illness? He looked very overweight in his suit last night.
