1. I've never been to the 'new' SHS, or any of its facilities.  The only games I've been to in recent years have been playoff games at neutral gyms.
2. I saw the '72 team play and lose to Odessa Ector.  Ector had a quick point guard who danced to the bucket with all sorts of fancy moves.  The Tigers came apart as a result. The only other time I went was to see the Girls play; I guess against Cleburne.  The girls team was getting all the attention back then.
3. Prudhome and Sutherland will make noise for HJ next year.
4. I saw that '95 PA Lincoln team one time.  That was when they beat Silsbee in the Region III championship, 68 to 62.  It was a lot closer than that.  Damien Bush of Sislbee was a Sr.  Steve Jackson was a Jr.  He played for Oak Hill Academy the next year, then on to the NBA.  The rest is history. PA Lincoln put out better teams than that IMO.
5. The D Mad players put on their uniforms, and lace up their sneakers just like the Tigers.  Occasionally upsets do happen.  Silsbee can beat Madison.  Why not?  It can happen.  It will happen.
6.
If nw faces ponder it will be a tough game for them, Ponder very sound and basketall savy, they do the little things, slow tempo type team that slows teams down just like nw.
I've heard a lot about Ponder.  I know they have been a prominent 2A team for the past few years, maybe longer than that.  So, they are a deliberate, slowdown team?  I figured they were running and pressing.  I have to go see them play one of these days.
7. Fox sports, or espn hopefully will broadcast this game.
8. You gotta go through Madison, or a team strong enough to take out Madison.  Either way it won't be easy.
9. Yep, if a coach can take more than one team to state that is not just luck and talent, that's skill.
10. The Bush coach, coach Courtney, I think that is his name, isn't he the one who coached at TSU for awhile, and before that at Willowridge during their dynasty run?
11. When I started this subject I had forgotten all about D. Madison.   gulp.  They can be beaten.  It is mathematically possible, but it won't be easy.  Do your best Tigers. I visit the dfw area, but I am not up there long enough to get the feel of the high school basketball scene.  Same with this place.   I only come around at certain times, and those times ususally coincide with the Tigers having a good season.  That has been quite often here lately.   Before this board I posted on the texas hoops spot, but that place was like the wild, wild west, as in lawless.  It was a good place to guage and know what the high school scene was like in the DFW, and other parts of Texas as well.   No matter what board you visit, there is no substitute for going to the games and seeing for yourself. Bottomline, I forgot all about D Madison.  I remember now though.
12. I'm talking about the basketball trophy.  I am not trying to turn up the pressure.  It already exists, at least from a fan point of view.  Hopefully the Tigers basketball team doesn't feel it at all.  Stay focused, but stay loose. No one knows - yet, who the other three teams will be.  That will come out later tonight, or tomorrow.  Nor do we yet know what they bring to the table.  So, the question remains: is this the year?  Life in Silsbee will go on regardless.  Still, it sure would be nice if this year's team brought that state basketball trophy home.
13. The Silsbee Tigers back to the big, big dance in Austin.  Cool. Congratulations to the HJ Hawks.   I saw the Cleveland game.  You have a special basketball program.
14. Bellaire always puts out a talented, top 5 5A team that never quite makes it all the way, or so it seems.    So, this upset is not all that shocking.
15. I'd stay.  Too much back and forth driving.  Speaking of driving, my truck has been sputtering here lately.  I've been looking at it on and off, but I am scared to put it on the  highway.  So, I'll be listening to the game  tonight.  It should be a great game.
16. So Pinetree, who do y'all do in a situation like this?  Drive back home to Silsbee, then drive back.  Or, stay in Huntsville all day Saturday?
17.
Same with Silsbee. After losing all their 3 point shooting and their all state point guard, just didn't think Silsbee could make it this far.
Who was this all state pt guard for Silsbee last year?   I didn't get to see them play last year.  Refresh my memory please. Nevermind, Shannon Robinson.  I forgot all about him.  Where is he these days?
[b][i]Who was the guy who said "Never underestimate the heart of a Champion"
Rudy Tomjanovich, coach of the Rockets in 94/95 when they won back to back NBA titles. That quote is a bit premature, IMO.  I'd wait for 3 more wins then break it out.
19. I may have to back off my last post.   There's no law that says a team has to run with Yates.   A savvy, determined, inspired team with good ball handlers could pull it off.  Anything is possible. Then you have the pressure of all the Yates hype.  They are probably getting statewide and a bit of national coverage at this game.  They have not lost this year.  There is something about playoff pressure that is unique and hard to plan for. Game is not over though.
20. Yates vs. Huntsville?   That doesn't sound too good.   It sounds like a blowout of Mt. St Helens proportions.
21. If a military general and family moved to Silsbee it would of made the headlines in the Silsbee Bee, and probably the Beaumont Enterprise also.  There is not a military base within a hundred miles of Silsbee. If you travel all over the place and find time to read the silsbee bee, via the internet, I don't know..You live a boring life.  I didn't pay that much attention to the bee when I lived in Silsbee.  Of course, they didn't have the internet then, but still,  lol.
22. Boogy1000 you know too much about Silsbee basketball.  I think you live in Silsbee, or somewhere in Hardin County, probably Sour Lake.  99% of people in other places could care less if the tigers win or lose.
