1.
What will it take for Silsbee to be recognized nationally maybe if they get to play Yates and somehow upset them ,even if not I wish they could continue to play teams like that and really build a solid program.
Silsbee needs to win a state championship first, and worry about national recognition later.
 2. Back when Kingwood was winning in b ball I said that i suspected they were cheating.  Maybe those posts are archived somewhere.  Wise was a part of the recruiting in Kingwood just like he is at Yates. High school basketball championships in Texas are a farce, a sham.  You might as well watch the harlem globetrotters.  This dish is rigged.
Kimball may not have the same stars next year. Frazier kid, just rumors but he may be headed to another school. Just rumors right now.
prolly Oak Hill Academy..

 5.

I just do not understand how some of you who post on this site try to sound so knowledgeable and don't really have a clue....its like me posting in the dang soccer forum..I don't know soccer, have never played soccer, yet if I went on there and talked about a soccer team's coach that just lost in the state title game on a last se cond goal, as if I know what the heck is going on....I would sound pretty dumb to a guy that REALLY knows soccer. Same concept.... Here are some things that you may want to consider: 1) This Yates team was very good, finishing with a 33-6 record as state finalist, but although they were far better than most in Texas, they were not as good as the previous teams that dominated in 09 and 10....not even close...No TRUE PG, for starters, and I could go on, but I want to keep this simple. 2) Every coach in TEXAS would send tapes on and try to strategize on how to beat Yates...ALL SEASON LONG..Do you guys really think that Coach Wise did not see every gimmick, trick defense, offensive game plan in the WORLD throughout these playoffs? Yet was a possession away from winning state again? 3) Their Sr. Leader, went 1-16 last night, and 0-7 from three....yet it took a prayer to best them on a last second shot in the end...1-16!  This had not happened all year long...They missed FIVE front end one and ones down the stretch, which allowed Kimball to get back in the game.... wrong time for that, but how is that Coach Wise's fault? It's basketball, sometimes that just happens. 4) Ever lose a parent the day before a title game? Well Yates had to deal with THAT obstacle as well...the sophomore guard #1, lost his grandmother (who was raising him) on Friday while in Austin....Not making excuses, just stating facts here.. 5) Did one of you guys say DISCIPLINE was an issue? I'd you did, I want to ask you one question...If you have seen Yates play, have you EVER seen those kids, talk back to a ref, talk smack to an opposing player, chest pump, throat slash, or ANY of those things that you often see undisciplined kids and teams do? I will answer for you. NOT EVER. Yates has possibly the MOST disciplined kids around.. Maybe this will help some of understand better, then again maybe it won't...I was just as shocked at the ending last night as most, but I do know that in these winner take all championship situations, things can and will happen....to blame the coach that has been there many times and understands also, is just not smart...Kimball was the defending state champion...they were a very good team...it took a wing and a prayer for them to beat Yates, and they got them both last night....Congrats to them and thanks to both teams for one of the best 4A finishes EVER.
I think arrogance got them beat...
Trudat, too proud to slow it down..
 6.

That Harris twin for FB Travis, the one that plays pt guard, dances with the ball too much.  He has good handles, but they're not that good.
Did you really just say this? That kid is money. He can do whatever he wants with the ball.
Kountzer may have  never watched real basketball b4  ;D
Overall the twin pt guard had a good game.  I still say he was dribbling too much at times.  I would eat my words, but the final score & results back me up.
 7. It's a msg board, 'Dickie V', or whoever you are.  Peeps express opinions on msg boards.  Just because you don't agree with them, doesn't mean they are wrong.  The real Dickie V is a homer for Duke, and you are a homer for Yates.  Too each his own.  Btw, I'm not glad that Yates lost, I'm not exactly mad about it either.  I'm sure they will have more chances in 3A.
 8.
Looks like "Real" basketball is played in Dallas not Houston!!!! ;D ;D
Everybody in Silsbee is a Dallas Cowboy fanatic.  It carries over to basketball.
 9. That Harris twin for FB Travis, the one that plays pt guard, dances with the ball too much.  He has good handles, but they're not that good.
 10. Marcus Smart for flower mound marcus should have 4 fouls, at least.  A few of those blocks he drew should of been charges.
 11. Every season, if possible, Silsbee should try to play teams like Argyle and or Sanger, just to get used to how they play in that area.
 12. bellaire has high academic standards.  Yates not so much.  Basketball is something on the side at bellaire.  Whereas Yates is a basketball factory.
 13. I live in Houston as well, consistently for the last 30 years.  Before that I spent most summers in Houston as well as in Silsbee, my hometown.  I just happen to like the name kountzer.  I went to school in HISD for about 2 years.  IOWs I have a good idea of what's going on here.  I've been following Wise & sons for years, from Missouri City to Kingwood to 3rd ward.  I don't have a problem with coach Wise.  He's got a good thing going, mo' power to him.  Just don't try and blow smoke, cause it is more than coaching ability that turned the Yates program around right about the time he showed up there.  Too many coincidences is not a coincident.
 14. Quite a bit of AAU activity happens around U of H and TSU in the summer.  Yates is around the corner.  Wise is a AAU administrator/coach whatever you want to call it.  Wise becomes Yates coach, and the program takes off.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it all out.  Year in and out there is not that much talent naturally occurring in 3rd ward.  But hey, the UIL can't or won't do anything about it.  It is what it is, probably for a long time.  They could dominate 3A for decades, just like the Canyon girls.  I hear they recruit also.
 15. If you got'em down, you gotta keep them down.  You have to give it to Waco LV for dealing with the pressure of being #1, undefeated, and making it to Austin.  They obviously have mental toughness.  They may take it all.
 16.
Silsbee looking to make their 3rd trip to Austin in last 5 years (6th overall '72, '76, '83, '08, '10, **) LaVega looking to make their 2nd trip to Austin. Only one player in this game tonight has played in the Frank Erwin Center, Silsbee's Kelton Gaines.
I attended the '72 game.
 17. I am mindful of the sabbath every year when they have the regional tournament, which I don't attend for this reason.  It is not that big of a deal for me, I'm just bringing it to attention. ]
 18. Athens vs. Silsbee, my, my.  Two of my favorite town going at it head to head.  I love Athens.  I've been there a few times.  My church conference owns a spot of land there, and we going there and have church camp meetings every summer.  Beautiful area, hard water and all.  Several lakes, lots of fishing, you name it. Silsbee is home though.  Blood is thicker than turnip juice, lol.  Go Tigers!  I won't be at the game though.  I plan to observe the sabbath, being I am a Seventh Day Adventist christian.  They had a big write up on the sabbath in the Houston Chronicle, as it relates to the playoffs.  Check it out.
 19. Well, I had a nice visit to beautiful, and fragrant Mt Belvieu Tx, lol. Man, their school district has an athletic complex second to none.  No game though.  I should of brought my laptop to work and got updated at lunch.  Oh well..
 20. Silsbee vs. ColdSprings Tuesday 2/28/12, at Barbers Hill.  Hmmm.  I can make that.  I went to one other playoff game there before, a few years ago.  I'm working two jobs though.  I may be tempted to just go home and go to bed. This is a rare opportunity for me to the the Tigers though.  Decisions, Decisions.
U need to get out of Kountze more.
Lol, no doubt, I need to move around more, but I live in NW Houston.

 23. Good chinese style buffet restaurant called Yank Sings.  It's located on Mangum, just across from the stadium.  I'm off today, but I work two blocks away from Delmar.
