  1. I recorded that game. I'll watch it tonight. I didn't know Lamar has a 7 footer.
  2. SLC is a great program, no doubt. Still, I would of liked to have seen what they could do with Cedar Hill, an equally good team. DB
  3. The redrowdies? Was that the group at the end of the basket wearing sombreros??
  4. I was at the game, and sitting at the end near the basket where it occurred. I immediately thought Yao had torn a major knee ligament. If it was a broken bone he got off relatively easy. ~ Kountzer ~
  5. What's he doing these days? Anyone know? ~ Kountzer ~
  6. The best Jr. of the year in the state is Sam McGuffie. Nobody else is even close.
  7. 41 carries for 296 yards? The WC coach is working that young man like a mule. He had similar numbers last week. Whatever it takes I guess. Big ups to the Silsbee Tigers this year. None of the state polls thought they would do anything this year. If the had gotten pass this team they might of run the table. Putting up 41 points means you left it all on the field. Can't ask for more than that. Job well done. ~ Kountzer ~
  8. Turkey, dressing, greens, corn, dinner rolls, sweet potatoe pie, chocolate cake, washed it all down with martinellis apple cider. About 3pm today got out the left overs, warmed them up and did it again. Yum, yum. DB aka Kountzer
  9. Back in the day BH was a 1A, or 2A class school. Now they are big enough to play teams like Central. Times have changed. DB
  10. I only watched some of this game. I was surprised at how much Yao impacted the game. 30 something points, 14 rebounds, and against Shaq. I don't know about all that 'best center in the nba' talk. Do it in the playoffs and I will listen. Still, Yao is looking good, and so are all the rockets.
  11. I've been watching the astros off and on all season. They don't deserve to be in the playoffs. I applaud their last ditch run at getting in. Still, they didn't take care of business during the season. The fact that today they had destiny in their hands and couldn't do anything with it says it all. It was a good season after all. I enjoyed watch Luke Scott blossom as a hitter. Willie Taveras played some good ball. We actually went to a Sunday game and watched Roger Clemens pitch. Next year they need to do something with Craig Biggio and let Chris Burke play. That's my two lincolns on the Astros this year. ~ Kountzer ~
  12. Being how this game is within range, I may try to attend. DB
  13. A lot of those middle of the pack houston teams are not that strong. There are not a lot of good teams in Smiley's district. The teams that get the recognition are the big suburban schools like The woodlands, Kingwood, Westfield, etc. The Northern suburbs. The more inner city schools sort of go into the playoffs with a ho hum mind set. At least that is how it appears to me. So, a one high school team, like Silsbee, or Kountze, where there is a lot of team pride and spirit, may catch a city team napping, especially in a warm up game. DB
  14. Nice pics on the intro. They got black folks living in LC-M? DanG. Cool. DB
  15. That is big. The Canyon girls basketball team has dominated the sport like no one has ever seen. They have definitely been a dynasty. DB
  16. Sometimes you just don't have the talent. I've read a little on this on the other board. A good coach can only take you so far. If the young folks don't develop a love for the game out on the playgrounds, and that's where it usually starts, then there isn't much a coach can do. Also, BISD seems to have slanted the playing field in Ozen's favor. It is as if they are saying 'instead of having several average teams, lets set it up so that the city has at least 1 team, Ozen, that is of championship caliber. If that is the case, the other schools don't have much of a chance. DB
  17. That Feb 14th game against Silsbee, in Jassper, will be the game of the year in that district. DB
  18. I need to get over there and watch Westfield. We used to live near Westfield, in some apartments. Then we were fortunate to move into a house closer to Eisenhower & Klein Forest high schools. My stepdaughter graduated from Westfield. As I've mentioned somewhere before, I like the sound of the name Kountzer. Also, I like the way Kountze has played basketball down through the years. I'm going all the way back to Manning and Brannon back in '69. (yes, I am that old). No disrespect to the good folks from Kountze, and my fellow Hardin County homies. I am from Silsbee. I grew up in Silsbee. Frank Robinson elementary, Waldo Matthews High school ( i didn't go there, but I do remember it, my mom used to teach there for awhile, btw), silsbee middle school, when it was located over by the old football stadium, Silsbee intermediate school on main st, the old silsbee high school, which is the new silsbee middle school. I haven't even been to the new high school. I've seen it though, it looks nice. Nice football field. I could rattle off some old time sports stars from Silsbee's past, but I think I've proven my point, for what it is worth, and if it is worth anything. This could be Silsbee's year to win a state championship. If it is I won't be there because the game is played on Saturday, and I am a seventh day adventist christian. That's a long ways off. They got to get there first. DB aka Kountzer
