  1. Not trying to look ahead, but Randle may really be the team to watch out for, PNG or anyone else.
  2. I don't think this game was an upset either. Randle looks pretty good, based on recent scores.
  3. Get there early. Hopefully PNG just keeps on doing what they've been doing.
  4. Wow, praying now for that family.
  5. Yeah kind-of looks that way.
  6. Except they can leave those cow bells at home. Geez ...
  7. The PNG game was their turning point I think.
  8. I'm hoping the Bulldogs surprise everyone, and LC even more. So they lost to WOS, PAM, FBM, TC and PNG. That's not too shabby competition. Anything can happen in the rain.
  9. I can picture Shea going into the game here and there, just as a decoy, so to speak. PNG should be able to control this game.
  10. Everyone got plenty of playing time, even Adams came in to take victory formation honors. Galena Park has a very good band and drill team. The football team is few in number, and mostly small, but there was some hitting going on, especially from their offensive line, regardless of the outcome. Congrats to the Indians, district champs.
  11. I heard yesterday that the Nederland student section had a scoreboard to keep up with how many times Cherokee was played, and the number reportedly ended up in the 40s somewhere. It's one of the few songs that never gets old. A few years ago I was checking out at one of the businesses in PN, and the young lady cashier had musical notes tattooed on her forearm, from the wrist up to about the elbow. I commented, "please tell me that's not the PNG fight song", and she laughed out loud and said "no sir it's not". She didn't say what song the notes represented, and at that point I didn't ask.
  12. It's Senior night, so parents or representatives will be on the field with the players pre-game. Otherwise, this game will be about taking care of business and winning district undefeated in district. With this coaching staff, the score does not matter, and who is playing does not matter, whether it be back-up or 2nd back-up or whatever, and whoever they are playing against doesn't matter, the same intensity is expected, and the coaches have the same intensity. Last Friday the kid that got the USC call against him in the 4th qtr, that gave the Bulldogs a first down instead of 4th and long, regardless of PNG's big lead, got some first hand experience of that intensity from 2 or maybe 3 coaches on the sideline right in front of where we were seated. The stands got sort of quiet and the coach could be heard, and some of the ladies (moms, probably) were getting upset. One lady yelled down at the coach (twice), "we can hear you, coach!". I said, "that kid is learning a lesson, and 5 minutes from now he'll be back on the field, and the same coach will pat him on the back". But the whole team will do 15 ups and downs next week, one for each yard of the penalty.
  13. Both teams are tough but TC will be wanting to get it done, and I think they have a little more horsepower both in the back field and on the lines.
  14. I parked on the roadside of a side street, about 2 blocks away, not too bad. It's been a while since I attended a varsity game there. I've always enjoyed playing the Bulldogs. With them you can win 40-0 or whatever, and still feel like you've been in a close game.
  15. This one doesn't surprise me, and I didn't get it wrong. WR has some big strong kids, and plenty of speed. We saw it when they played PNG, and saw that they could be some spoilers down the stretch. Lots of players playing both offense and defense, though. It's back to the drawing board for Dayton now I think. They'll bounce back strong next year.
  16. +3 Good job, Bulldogs. And good game, regardless of the score.
  17. Where is parking at Nederland Stadium? Other than the two rows by the gate. Are there any parking lots anywhere around the stadium?
  18. Indians should take this one easily. Bulldogs will leave it all on the field, though; but then will likely fall flat the following week and get drubbed by TC, just like last season or worse.
  19. Don't take anything away from TC, they're a very good team. Also don't take Willow Ridge for granted either. Just my $0.02.
  20. Re the 1947, 71-0 game, I've heard about it many times from my father-in-law. PNG kicked off to start the game, my FIL hit the Ned runner, who fumbled. PNG covered the fumble, then scored, and went on to win 71-0. PNG starters laid down on the sidelines for almost the entire 4th Qtr. The '47-'48 team(s) lost only 1 game in 2 seasons, to Lake Charles (in Lake Charles), which was a farce, officiating-wise. My FIL is 93 years old now, and still talks about it.
  21. The system crashed briefly, then came back up. I was able to grab 2 seats, but I know of one person whose account was debited but still has not received an email with tickets.
  22. On paper, this one should be no contest, (just like last season). But Ned has many returning starters, while PNG has a few. PNG's QB is new, but he's played Ned before. The biggest factor may end up being the officiating. From what I hear, that's what got Ned past Dayton. BTW, where will the Ref crew be from for this year's game?
  23. Is there a requirement to have played in a district game (varsity or otherwise) to be eligible for the playoffs? Someone on one of the forums mentioned this last week, but I'd never heard of that.
  24. Just based on the numbers, this game should be a bench-clearing shutout for PNG. I expect the game to be similar to the Willow Ridge game, however, for the observers, with pretty much plain vanilla play calling. Don't ever take any high school game for granted, but it would be handy if SF runs similar defense and offense as Nederland for us.
  25. Wow. Prayers your way, for peace and comfort.
