At least next year homecoming won't be the Dayton game.
-
One or another has snagged me a time or two, especially the 99 cent offer from various newspapers. For this past weekend I read Bally's fine print to make sure I could cancel, which I did yesterday. So, we'll see if there was any extra fine print that I missed. I'll admit, though, that just allowing it to continue was somewhat tempting.

I'll say this, #33 for PNG left it all on the field Friday night. He was visibly exhausted in the 4th qtr. -

I've always said we shouldn't have anything to do with Cherokee. Karankawa, maybe. But I say we go with the Welders. PNG Welders. "W-E-L-D-E-R-S! Tack 'em Welders, Tack 'em!!" Just think of the possibilities. I've already suggested this on the PNG site. -

The Houston Chronicle stated that there were 40,000 + in attendance to watch NS and Duncanville. So if you say that the stands were more full for the PNG game, then they must have had over 40k in attendance, (presuming the Chronical is accurate). -
Wow, great game!
-
He didn't make it. He was short, D-Ville's ball. Wow.
-
D-Ville losing it. They better calm down and play D.
-
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
-
4 more downs
-
Well, NS sort of self destructing. They need a turnover. Bad.
-
Should NS score quickly? Better not too quickly. But they want to have time left after D-Ville gets the ball back.

It's a barn burner.

It seems like the runners and receivers in this weekend's games are almost going out of their way to do a stiff-arm. Edit: Throw. Throw a stiff-arm.

My niece went to Silsbee and played sports, but lived in Kountze. Her mom was a teacher at Silsbee.

Same. Never have, and don't get the logic of it. Either go ahead and do an OSK or else go ahead and kick it.

Off the top of my head, roughly 9 or 10 on defense, and 9 or 10 on offense, but note that my post said "players", not "starters". Depends on how one defines "starters", since there were various starters due to injuries. As an example, #16 and #6, starting Sr linebackers, missed several games due to injuries, and #26 a Jr, and #43 a Soph, "started" against Dayton, Texas City, Willow Ridge and maybe 1 or 2 more games. Others that came up and played included RB #15, and WR #88, both Sophs if I'm not mistaken, and also #42 on defense. Others "started" on special teams, and were back-ups or otherwise saw playing time. The speedy WRs, #18, #10, #84, will be hard to replace, player for player. But the offense may have a slightly different look, presuming #19 becomes starting QB. Adams will be more of dual threat than Crippen was (with all due respect to Crippen); and he was a pretty good QB in middle school and part of his Soph season before he was moved up to varsity. Next season will be interesting.

Lots of returning players, plus a few more that didn't play this season. If they pick up where they left off, and keep the coaching staff, they will be a strong team.

The punter for PNG was the QB, so maybe they just wanted regular defense players on the field for a kickoff. IDK, but I think I still would have punted. Long, high punt, with plenty of hang time. -
A family that lived across the street from me in Barbers Hill did this very thing for their son several years ago. They sold their house and moved to a different town.

... and another thing, or maybe a question, does UIL allow a punt after a safety? If so, I would have punted rather than kick off from the tee after the safeties. If not then NM. Re next season, PNG will have another strong team, maybe even better IMO. Presuming they get all the return players back. -

PNG had two guys injured on the sideline that would have really made a big difference when SOC was in passing situations. Anyway there's always next season for the JRs and Sophs. -

Yep. I've held my breath on every long or special snap all season. But there hadn't been one over the punter's head in a long time. -

Congrats PNG. Any season that you play 16 games is a great season. Lots of good players coming back next season too. -
