  1. again i am just digging to find any way to beat such a team--there is always a way as a coach to prepare your team. This match up seems similar to the USC ESPN hoopla of the Trojans being the incarnation of Jesus Christ on the field, before Vince and Texas used the disrespect to fuel an upset. Athlete wise, from video, no way LH competes. BUT that offense is such an equalizer when run to perfection. Last year they were 99.9 percent perfect against Crosby until the .01 happened and fumbled on the 2 pt conversion. Would they have beaten Aledo??? From the view of a fan, NO, BUT again that offense is so different and DIFFICULT to prepare for in one week, especially when everyone, coaching, players and fans are getting a little tired of the long season. I love the way the LH players play up the "Aw Shucks" approach, we are just Opie from the Andy Griffith show, we'll help you up, good game as they kick your as_!!! Oliver Luck's son Andrew at Stratford did that same crap to us at Eisenhower, tapping on the helmet, "Good job" after he was tackled, that smart guy way of nerving you. I hope it is a good game. I don't see Paetow having a game nor Univ of Westlake, so this one and Rocky 3 with NS and Dunc.
  2. Exactly on Liberty Hill, so many distractions with state game that playing such an unconventional team gives them a chance. Also has SOC been a polished playoff team?? That was the only reason I gave Katy a chance against that Westlake college team yesterday, Katy has experience. Didnโ€™t matter!! Also has SOC been behind any this year? Many teams have trouble with adversity especially in a high pressure game. I have only seen a few highlights of SOC, scary team , very skilled BUT you have to play the game. Unfortunately LH doesnโ€™t look the part, in pads Crosby looks 14-21 points better BUT you have to play the game. As a defensive coordinator, this would be the LAST type of team I would choose to play in the state championships, THE LAST. This is going to give LH a chance. 9 of 10 times SOC will win, but the 1 in LH favor will happen in the first meeting. Could very well happenโ€” unless the revenge game against Crosby caused LH to shoot their wad early ๐Ÿค”
  3. Another Duncanville rematch, should be a good one cause the other seems to be a runaway BUT you still have to play the game ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ๐Ÿป
  4. Wow, i hoped for H town, that hope left midway through the first. Impressive. Canโ€™t wait to see them in person next week ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ
  5. Well didnโ€™t want to put Katy or North Shore or WOS because they are still a different class with state championships so I just named consistency in playoffs, Jaspers definitely above but didnโ€™t edit or think- just wrote. Crosby is deserving of excellent playoff company. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ
  6. Still got to play the game, many a team has counted their chickens before they hatch unfortunately.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ๐Ÿป
  7. Congratulations to Liberty Hill, definitely played with emotion and a great plan. There offense is so unique it may be enough to win state next week. To Crosby, it hurts now but you had another outstanding year. You are putting your name in statewide contention with the Jaspers, Marts, La Vega s, Westfields, and the like. Have a great Christmas break and start working for next year๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ
  8. Crosby by 17๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ
  9. have to tell you in person, i was the DC there while he was there.
  10. Marlin flubbed this away by poor management. Being an experienced playoff team AND coaching staff is so important. Hawley happily controlled the clock and had the ball 70 percent of the time even without their best running back who was hurt last week. When Marlin had the ball, their indoctrination to a 1 back pass happy scheme left them with no positive yards and maybe 14 plays in the first half. When they finally figured out in the second half that running in a straight line is the quickest way to the end zone , they dominated. BUT their most highly recruited player, #4 outside lber and versatile receiver Guillette a juinor who has been offered by Ohio St, A M, and Texas only touches the ball ONCE ( the ENTIRE game), you have to say as a fan โ€œ What are yโ€™all doing?โ€. Sorry for the rant, just my hometown and Ive coached enough to know how some teams coaches can take away a teams potential, but itโ€™s always low hanging fruit to blame it on those playersโ€” in a nice way if course. One day I will write how we destroyed 14.2โ€™s senior year. That was easily the best defense Iโ€™ve been aroundโ€” oh well Go Crosby-North Shore- Katy๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ Would have been tough to beat Shiner, but nice to get there!
  11. Just from his interview, he demonstrates a team concept and lack of ego that is needed by all head coaches. Crosby is blessed to have him. I, as a coach, love his success because he examplifies a successful coach who was hired with NO head coaching experience. Great job.
  12. Congratulations Coach!!!!
  13. Lots of truth spoke here, coaching is like any other profession. 14 is correct in that 2 of the 3 good hires in Crosby were coordinators that came in with a new superintendent. New sup will VERY often hire someone new just for allegiance. This is no different in any profession. Years ago when GCM was getting ready to open, GCCISD athletic director went to Garland ISD to interview how they hired for a new football coach at a new school. Homer Jones, maybe Johnson was the most experienced AD, or one of the most experienced, in the state. He told Tom Ed that a new school needs to hire a successful, responsible, excitable coordinator. Many times superintendents will hire someone they know from their old district for loyalty and they are knowledgeable of their character. Sometimes there will be a true investigation with TRUE interviews, but rarely. VERY OFTEN THE SUP KNOWS THE HIRE BEFORE INTERVIEWS, or it could be someone an influential board member knows. The most important person in any football organization is the HEAD COACH, the second is the QUARTERBACK. Isn't high school playoff time great, not only football, but all sports. As far as head coaches, i BELIEVE the best head coaches have a background as a defensive coordinator (Saban and Bellicheck) becomes often offensive coordinators are PRETTY BOYS and have to run all their plays. Defensive coaches worry more about scoreboard. I have known some quality head coaches who have a background with offensive line, hogs are different beasts altogether. t
  14. Atascocita fate was sealed when their stud quarterback blew his leg out in week 5. With him they are a different team though the young quarterback played great. Congratulations on a great year just tough being in region with them East side Mustangs ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ๐Ÿป
  15. Great season Bears๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ๐Ÿป
  16. Game Day!!!!!!! Go Crosby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Game day!!!!!!! Go Mustangs
  18. Game Day------GO BEARS!!!!!!
  19. I think this is important as it shows work off the field. Again I hope that he has solved any questions about his character and he achieves all that he desires. One thing we need to be careful of, INCLUDING ME, is to carefully judge that transfer portal. Just because someone is in it isn't an arrow against that person. If i was in his situation with TCU unknowing of coaching, I would probably go into the portal also.
  20. Exactly, the โ€œitโ€ factor that true leaders have. You can describe it many ways because itโ€™s different for a lot of leaders but it can be identified through the actions of the people beneath them . I could tell he had it. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ
  21. No there are others including myself. He had lots of issues at the premiere or one of the premiere schools in Texas. Then you had the long recruiting of him and his decision. He may end up as the greatest running back in the NFL, and i hope he does well, BUT there is a lot of smoke with this young man. I thought he and the Demas wide receiver at A M from Forest Brook or Tomball or footwork king had common attributes. Great athletes not great team players, who were given tremendous value too early that went to their psychological profile. There are so many great athletes at d-1 college ( let alone the NFL which is what some in social media were guaranteeing about both) work ethic usually comes into play and I believe from what Iโ€™ve seen, read and heard from their coaches, that is their question mark, work ethic on and off the field.
  22. very tough loss
  23. I know he was the head football coach, lost to Longview, I was at that game. But when i coached track I met him and was amazed at how many athletes were out for track which showed me he has the ability to attract athletes to sports which helps. I am an old school coach who grew up where everyone ran track, no questions, but currently, track (the most important football offseason workout) is one of the least participated in sport because 1) it is difficult 2) it takes gonads to have to race at track meets and NOT win. Only one winner and todays athletes will get their feelings hurt and rather not run than to get a trophy. I thought upon seeing the great turnout in track that he would also be successful in any sport as the head. The great football coaches are successful at other sports and also in the classroom. I have coached withy a lot of coaches who brag," I ain't worth a dang in the classroom, but boy I can coach football." WRONG, if your character is that weak that you abuse your role as a teacher you are not a good coach. The best coaches i have worked with in 3 and a half decades were also quality teachers.
  24. Someone help my old memory, Peevey was head track at Westbrook right??
