  1. Just from his interview, he demonstrates a team concept and lack of ego that is needed by all head coaches. Crosby is blessed to have him. I, as a coach, love his success because he examplifies a successful coach who was hired with NO head coaching experience. Great job.
  2. Congratulations Coach!!!!
  3. Lots of truth spoke here, coaching is like any other profession. 14 is correct in that 2 of the 3 good hires in Crosby were coordinators that came in with a new superintendent. New sup will VERY often hire someone new just for allegiance. This is no different in any profession. Years ago when GCM was getting ready to open, GCCISD athletic director went to Garland ISD to interview how they hired for a new football coach at a new school. Homer Jones, maybe Johnson was the most experienced AD, or one of the most experienced, in the state. He told Tom Ed that a new school needs to hire a successful, responsible, excitable coordinator. Many times superintendents will hire someone they know from their old district for loyalty and they are knowledgeable of their character. Sometimes there will be a true investigation with TRUE interviews, but rarely. VERY OFTEN THE SUP KNOWS THE HIRE BEFORE INTERVIEWS, or it could be someone an influential board member knows. The most important person in any football organization is the HEAD COACH, the second is the QUARTERBACK. Isn't high school playoff time great, not only football, but all sports. As far as head coaches, i BELIEVE the best head coaches have a background as a defensive coordinator (Saban and Bellicheck) becomes often offensive coordinators are PRETTY BOYS and have to run all their plays. Defensive coaches worry more about scoreboard. I have known some quality head coaches who have a background with offensive line, hogs are different beasts altogether. t

  7. Game day!!!!!!! Go Mustangs
  8. Game Day------GO BEARS!!!!!!
  9. I think this is important as it shows work off the field. Again I hope that he has solved any questions about his character and he achieves all that he desires. One thing we need to be careful of, INCLUDING ME, is to carefully judge that transfer portal. Just because someone is in it isn't an arrow against that person. If i was in his situation with TCU unknowing of coaching, I would probably go into the portal also.
  10. Exactly, the β€œit” factor that true leaders have. You can describe it many ways because it’s different for a lot of leaders but it can be identified through the actions of the people beneath them . I could tell he had it. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ»βœοΈ
  11. No there are others including myself. He had lots of issues at the premiere or one of the premiere schools in Texas. Then you had the long recruiting of him and his decision. He may end up as the greatest running back in the NFL, and i hope he does well, BUT there is a lot of smoke with this young man. I thought he and the Demas wide receiver at A M from Forest Brook or Tomball or footwork king had common attributes. Great athletes not great team players, who were given tremendous value too early that went to their psychological profile. There are so many great athletes at d-1 college ( let alone the NFL which is what some in social media were guaranteeing about both) work ethic usually comes into play and I believe from what I’ve seen, read and heard from their coaches, that is their question mark, work ethic on and off the field.
  12. very tough loss
  13. I know he was the head football coach, lost to Longview, I was at that game. But when i coached track I met him and was amazed at how many athletes were out for track which showed me he has the ability to attract athletes to sports which helps. I am an old school coach who grew up where everyone ran track, no questions, but currently, track (the most important football offseason workout) is one of the least participated in sport because 1) it is difficult 2) it takes gonads to have to race at track meets and NOT win. Only one winner and todays athletes will get their feelings hurt and rather not run than to get a trophy. I thought upon seeing the great turnout in track that he would also be successful in any sport as the head. The great football coaches are successful at other sports and also in the classroom. I have coached withy a lot of coaches who brag," I ain't worth a dang in the classroom, but boy I can coach football." WRONG, if your character is that weak that you abuse your role as a teacher you are not a good coach. The best coaches i have worked with in 3 and a half decades were also quality teachers.
  14. Someone help my old memory, Peevey was head track at Westbrook right??
  15. Spanish for bear, had to change login. Year of the Bear, LCM not Chicago πŸ˜‚
  16. Bears for the win--got to or i have to change my name for 35 years Coach Bear, now Oso added.
  17. Congratulations Indians on a great season with a young team. This success will mobilize off season with a bullet!!! So important for Fall of 22. Hopefully the district stays somewhat intact for continued growth and banter. πŸ‘πŸ»βœοΈπŸ»
  18. Congratulations Cougars, i too was expecting a little more breathing room in the score but I based it on watching the second half of the Barbers Hill game. A M has good coaching which will make such a big difference during nut cutting time. Crosby seems to be slowly entering the likes Katy, Aledo and North shore consistency which leads to championship possibilities. I saw where Katy and North shore were constantly scrutinized on social media that they were going to be taken down because this or that by the new kids in town but they do what they do AGAIN. Also with Crosby the brutal non district schedule and brutal district schedule is paying dividends Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens ironπŸ‘πŸ»βœοΈπŸ»
  19. Go Crosby πŸ‘πŸ»βœοΈπŸ»
  20. Crosby needs to worry about one team tonight, Prieto surely is keeping them focused cause when that clock expires you can’t go back in time, ask AledoπŸ‘πŸ»βœοΈπŸ»
  21. Game Day even in Louisiana!! Scalp’em Indians πŸ‘πŸ»βœοΈπŸ»
  22. Lets go Crosby πŸ‘πŸ»βœοΈπŸ»
  23. Happy thanksgiving to all on this site!! Especially lets be thankful for an uninterrupted high school football season. Everything can be taken away at the drop of a hat, so let’s appreciate the great season so far and what is to come!!! πŸ‘πŸ»βœοΈπŸ»
  24. Yes those pooch kicks had a low trajectory that allowed returns a couple that went almost to the house. If pooching it MUST get height to force a fair catch. Championship teams in any sport must do the following 1- Great defense 2- Run a mistake free basic offense 3-Have great SPECIAL TEAMS or plays as they flip fields and change big momentum πŸ‘πŸ»βœοΈπŸ»
  25. Congratulations Crosby but be careful as often times with countless teams in immeasurable playoff seasons a team’s success can become its own worst enemy as players often have disjointed shoulders by patting themselves on the back. A M is a very good team, capable of winning. Their freshmen quarterback will be outstanding in a couple of years but is capable of winning now. Crosby must put constant pressure on him because he is still just 15-16 but maturing with a bullet. Crosby could win by 28 or lose by 7. That win over Barbers Hill was immense for that quarterback and team. Many times it’s beneficial to be the underdog. I am sure the coaches will be preaching humility, preparation and one day at a time in Crosby to fight that naturally occurring ego. Go Crosby.
