I understand your frustration, but let’s not name any particular official. I don’t want this thread to get locked up. It’s been a good place to “vent” after some of these things are happening.

I see people talk about individual coaches, players, etc on these threads. Why should calling out the referee be any different? If so, why is that? Isn't that really part of the issue with the chapter really? These guys don't get held accountable for their actions? I don't want to stop a thread either but if you are a coach, you get much worse treatment than this.

  2. I watch at least 3-4 HS games per week. Been doing so for many years now.  Same chapter officials for the most part. What I notice from a large portion of the SETX Chapter is the willingness and blatant disregard for consistency and fairness. There are some good and fair referees. But there are some over the top guys like the weather guy from Channel 6 is my case in point. Probably should be doing sub varsity games only. I've been in 5 games he has refereed this year and he is by far the most inconsistent and biased referee in the chapter. Maybe it's just he's new but last night he refereed WOS/BC and seriously had 75% of the calls. He had 2 veteran referees in the crew and they were typical on their calls. Not great but not terrible. But this guy...wow...even at one time the WOS fans chanted "take his whistle".  The referees have a tough job but honestly its a lot of self endured pain. Again, there are some good referees in this Chapter but some really rotten ones too. Just because they are veterans doesn't give them a pass on inconsistent calls and  biased officiating. Some of those guys are really rotten at times too. Calling fouls on a player, giving the score table the wrong number is seriously incompetent and unacceptable. Having to huddle up as a crew after several calls in a row and decide who the foul is on, makes you scratch your head. Just makes the officials look bad. Again, tough job they have but definitely they can relieve some of their pain with additonal training and consistency.

That's a remarkable drop off from where they were at just a year ago. One specific player graduating has a lot to do with it.

Usually the Mustangs have enough athletes to make the Tigers have to work for it. That doesn't look like it'll be the case tonight.

Last year they had several seniors graduate. Plus Rocedric their big was a major factor. It's just a rebuild.

big playoff implications in this one.  Currently sitting 3rd and 4th in district, but LCM should take one of those playoff spots by the end of district play.

How do you get Bc and Lumberton are currently sitting 3rd and 4th? Silsbee is 4-0. BC and Jasper are both 2-1 (tied for 2nd), Lumberton is 2-2, LCM is 1-2, Vidor is 1-3 and WOS is 0-3.

LCM still has Jasper, Silsbee and WOS left this 1st half.

BC has Lumberton Jasper, and WOS

    Vidor has Lumberton and Silsbee

    Lumberton has BC and Vidor

I think LCM in a very difficult spot especially if they lose to Jasper and Silsbee.

  5. So I noticed in some of the schedules on Max preps that teams leave off difficult opponents. For example, neither Silsbee or Jasper had their game this past Tuesday on their schedule. I've seen this on many other "programs". My question is this, what is the benefit of this for them? I'm trying to understand because Max Preps rankings and other things associated are so poorly managed, I'm just wondering why one would leave it off.

Does the Elliot kid at LCM have any real help?

Had LCM at the #2 spot in district. Starting to question that if they lose to Lumberton.

Yes LCM is loaded. Alantheon Winn, Noah Fuller, Damarion Morris and Ty Blackmon all can play and score. They just are not playing to their strengths right now IMO. Seems they play better pushing and opening up the floor finding matchups. Right now there is a lot of plauer movement and motion inside clogging up things for Elliott and teams are not having to do much to defend it. Elliott is a great player but the other weapons are under utilized IMO right now. These guys should be definitely competing higher level. Coach J will fix it .out definitely.

    Who is better?

At OF? Pete is one i think pretty debatable. Elsewhere no debate... just a few names... Wesley Yates, Terrance Arceneaux, Stephen Jackson, Kendrick Perkins, Brae Bush, Ben Elliott all have better stats. BTW, nothing against him but may not try and make those bold statements. Best freshman ever is pretty much wouldn't even have started at LCM this year that's why he's not there.

Either that or a son with the same name who’s posting on the same thread.  That is a possibility.  I don’t know you personally.  If not, it would be a heck of a coincidence to have two accounts with emails containing the same uncommon name posting in the same thread a few posts apart.  And as I said previously, I’m done with the other.

Now you are just making up stuff. You are done because you have no proof. As a moderator you should be held to a higher standard and I can't believe the integrity of the site or what's left allows your behavior.  My son doesn't have the same email, first name or even an account on this dreadful site. Last year I went to Mike because someone was acting or had a name that people thought it was me. He went to the account 2 times and made them change their name. He even said then he didn't even know who it was. So don't claim you know anything because you don't. You are seriously afraid of providing proof because you have none. You are a sad excuse for a moderator.

For years we were able to see IP addresses from where people were posting.  Like schools during the work day.  We’re also able to see when the same or very similar email accounts make multiple accounts (like yours).  Then there’s other people contacting mods on here (people higher than me with impeccable sources) saying that it’s happening, people that aren’t involved in the conversation.  And there’s all the circumstantial stuff, like the new account that sprung up yesterday (there’s at least 5 or 6 of those now) and posted until about 15 minutes before tip off, and hasn’t  posted since.  Anyway, I’m done with it.

Are You now saying I have multiple accounts? If so then I know you are full of it man. All I know man is either specifically put up the facts of the evidence or just stop with the bashing and slander.  As a moderator I would think somone would hold you to a higher standard than what you have been doing.

Appreciate the transparency.  Seriously.  He’s done good things over there.  I’m glad he’s helping kids, and glad he’s found some success.  Truly. But nothing will change my mind that it’s BS for a coach to get on here pretending to be someone else and criticize other coaches while tooting his own horn.  And then create more accounts to “back up” his posts.  I’m sure he’s a great guy, though.  He certainly has a few devoted fans on here, although it’s always tough to figure the real ones from the spam accounts.  Id be curious what “slander” has occurred. Having an opinion, or posting records, or questioning how much success determines elite?  The “not mitchell” and mitchell fan club  accounts have certainly said as bad or worse about Davis.

You sure throw things around like facts. So I'm a fair guy, if you have proof that he has jumped on here with another account or whatever you say let's see the evidence. Saying this is pretty easy. Bashing a coach and saying things like he isn't a good coach is one thing. But what I see you doing is pretty close to slander without evidence. At some point you've crossed the line of an opinion and have started slandering the guy.

    Looking past them.

Biggest mistake for LCM if that's true. I don't think that's what happened. Shots didn't fall, intensity wasn't there. I've coached a lot of those LCM kids in AAU and they just didn't have it that night. BC had a couple kids step up. Rodriguez and Brown plus what they get from Britten was the difference. Rodriguez had a 13 pt 2nd qtr. Took the lead from LCM and I don't believe they ever relinquished it.

It wasn't just the fact that BC beat them.  It was multiple factors.  One was blowing the big lead, another was that was the HJ team that had the best shot over the past several years to make it to state.  Huffman ended up going that year, and HJ had beaten them once and lost by a point or two two other times.  Silsbee was way down, Yates was way down, and HJ had their best team in awhile.  BC had a great win against them, and should've been proud.  But HJ played like doodoo and their best player was (deservedly) suspended.  I would be willing to bet that Davis would say it was his worst playoff loss as well.

Makes it even sweeter. Thanks for your insight.

Without Sears both times, probably.  The WOS game for sure, but maybe he wins the BC game.  The Bridge City loss is the worst of Davis' career IMO.  But that WOS team was no joke.  They had a 3-point loss to silsbee, and a 4-point loss to Yates last season.

BC lost to Silsbee close that year too. Funny how all this started about Mitchell but that same year, he beat BC both times, the next week BC beat HJ.  But I truly am glad BC has the honor of Davis worst playoff loss. It's a badge of honor. We even hung a banner for it.

HJ was without it's best player in both of those games.  They had absolutely no business losing to BC, but played poorly and BC took advantage and made a fantastic comeback.  The WOS game was a matchup nightmare, and once they lost Sears I figured they'd lose it.  HJ may not be what they once were, but that has everything to do with all of the Houston and Dallas teams somehow being 4A, and Silsbee having an otherworldly 10 years or so worth of players.  HJ still wins 25+ games every year, and would still be making runs in the playoffs if 4A hadn't turned into a big city/small enrollment recruitment division.

Programs include more than just 1 player right? I mean surely RJ wasn't the only reason they were in the playoffs? I believe it's easy to say what should've , could've , would've but what happened is what happened. If a good program manager, you manage all aspects of your program. Classroom, community, etc. I was at both the HJ playoff games the last 2 years when they lost 1st round. It was not the kids it was something else. Maybe it was just better preparing by the others or something like that. Just didn't look like traditional HJ teams.

One of the programs I'm affiliated with (HJ) absolutely wipes Lumberton over the past ten years, and Davis is one of the coaches that the accounts associated with Mitchell on here have consistently attacked.  The other is HF, which is one of those bad lower level teams that he used to schedule 8-9 years ago for an easy win when they were 5A, but is now clearly a much better squad that Lumberton, has been for the last couple of years, and should be for the foreseeable future.

Well as you know, BC and WOS have beaten HJ in the playoffs the last 2 seasons when clearly they were underdogs. I believe sometimes in neutral places where all is equal (including referees), HJ isn't the team it once was. No doubt its a historic program. This year they have a great squad. That Kelly recruit that transferred over this year is a flat out player. I have a soft spot for Melvo too as he is a sincerely good player and kid. The young Spears is also a good kid too.

If recruting or moving kids into your district equals a program, then coaching has nothing to do with Xs and Os. Now, I do think the HF coach is a good coach but clearly the way all that happend is very important to their success. Time will tell if he can repeat this YOY.
