  1. The answer is in the post you quoted. Actual Indians going to a school with an Indian mascot, and participating in their Indian traditions is ok. But white people doing those same things is not ok in their eyes, which is understandable to me (a white person).
  2. Yepp, anyone but Duke and Kansas please lol
  3. Refs have been awful in college basketball the last few years. They’re not just bad, they’re inconsistently bad, so teams aren’t able to get a feel for how the game will be called. But yeah those last two fouls on Holmgren were very bad calls.
  4. Gonzaga was in the bonus halfway through the second half, and in the double bonus not too long after that I believe.
  5. I think Bush would be a great fit. Any team would love to have his microwave scoring ability and no-fear attitude. I listened to an interview with Coach Holloway at St. Peter's this morning and he said the #1 key to getting the program to where it is today was to recruit local kids. I looks like there are 5 SETX kids on Lamar's roster, so I think Coach Brooks has it moving in the right direction. I know there isn't enough talent around here each year to fill out a 12 man roster, but a team made up of guys just from along the I-10 corridor from Houston to Baton Rouge would be pretty damn salty.
  6. Its already getting that way in the NFL with all the studies coming out saying that lower-body injuries (mostly knee) are a lot more common on the artificial surfaces. I know the Ravens switched from field turf to grass about 5 years ago.
  7. Has mismanagement of the pitching staff been a recurring theme since Davis took over? Or just the roster as a whole? I haven't been to a game since he got the head job so I genuinely don't know.
  8. Can’t get a read on LCM this year based on their scores, kinda all over the place.
  9. I remember watching Sauceda at Bobcat games with my older cousins that went to Orangefield…that guy was slippery as hell.
  10. Why didn’t you highlight the rest of his sentence about the guys coming off the bench? No one here is arguing about the number of players in a given team’s rotation. Every basketball team starts five players, so it only makes sense that the all-district teams are also five players.
  11. I had no idea that the original lawsuit was filed because some disgruntled fantasy baseball "managers" lost money. Great stuff lol.
  12. "You are what your record says you are." - Bill Parcells
  13. They’re not matching TCU’s intensity for sure.
  14. Texas also only shot 39.7% from the field, and it’s very difficult to win with that percentage no matter what the free throw disparity is. But that free throw disparity is laughable.
  15. Was just about to post something like this.
  16. Auburn is my second final 4 pick to go down along with Kentucky. Should’ve known not to trust SEC teams smh
  17. I don't think there are any more straws for you to grasp at. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that “suspects” (in the context of Coach T’s quote) are players who may not make the team because their effort is SUSPECT, or their conditioning is SUSPECT, or their talent is SUSPECT.
  18. Yeah it’s the net income for the college as a whole, which come from the annual financial statements they post on their website. They only break down the financials into a few different segments, and Lamar classifies their athletic department in the “auxiliary” segment, which is probably lumped in with a lot of other departments.
  19. Those are all great questions, but times don’t appear to be as tough as they seem for Lamar. They reported $21.2 mil. in net income on their financials for fiscal year 2021, so they had plenty of breathing room to open up the checkbook for more athletic funding.
  20. Texas finally started hitting jumpers today vs Va. Tech. Feels like it’s been ages since they’ve won a game in the tourney. Hope they can keep it going Sunday.
  21. It certainly doesn’t hurt recruiting when your head coach is a former MLB All-Star that played most of his career right down the road.
  22. You bet. I just want to enlighten folks so they can direct their frustrations mostly towards the Board and other decision-makers at Lamar; instead of the coaches and players who are hamstrung by those parties.
  23. Same thing happened with LCM in '96 I believe when they rode Beau Hale one-gamers all the way to the state tourney. Hopefully Griff invested in a bunch of lotto tickets that year.
  24. Nate Clover from PA was on the Oral Roberts team that made the Sweet 16 last season as a 15 seed.
  25. I promise we all want them to be competitive with those programs, but they haven't been able to do it consistently due to a combination of lackluster recruiting and coaching. Why doesn't Lamar get the same quality of athletes and coaches as those other programs? Money. Every one of those schools you mentioned has at least 5% more of an athletic budget to work with compared to Lamar. ACU's financials aren't posted online because its a private school. Lamar athletic budget: $13.6 mil. Tarleton athletic budget: $14.2 mil. (5% more than LU) SFA athletic budget: $15.7 mil. (16% more than LU) SHSU athletic budget: $16.8 mil (24% more than LU) So until Lamar is able to spend on a similar level with these other schools I, along with most other rational Lamar fans, will keep my expectations grounded. Money absolutely matters in college athletics, and the new AD needs to really push administration for more leeway to spend on par with their peers.
