  1. I find it very hard to believe that Lamar is spending $19 mil. on athletics when their athletic budget is less than $14 mil.
  2. I agree with most of your post, but I don’t think the highlighted part is true at all. I’ve already done the research on Lamar’s athletic budget, which falls well behind their former Southland peers. The powers that be have to agree to start opening up the checkbook.
  3. Can’t live with em can’t live without em.

  5. Honest question for those of us that haven't been involved in the recruiting process: does the conference a school is in matter to recruits at the lower levels of D-1 like the Southland and WAC?
  6. A quick search of 247's recruiting database will tell you that at least 50 players went D-1 while Westerberg was at Allen, but shows only one guy going D-1 while he was at BH. Real shame he forgot how to develop talent when he moved to Mont Belvieu.
  7. Those non-Kyler teams still had tons of D-1 talent on both sides of the ball. How much D-1 talent did Westerburg coach at BH?
  8. Good post - the highlighted part starts with the parents though.
  9. From what I understand this is also why Orangefield's population/enrollment numbers remain stagnant. Its a very desirable school district that people want to move to, and there is tons of acreage that could be developed into neighborhoods and businesses. The property owners just do not want to part ways with their land though, which is totally understandable.
  10. So the guys from HF and Lumberton are more deserving because their teams won exactly one playoff game?
  11. You called it. [Hidden Content]
  12. Say it louder for the people in the peanut gallery.
  13. Thats silly, the best football players should be rewarded regardless of position or class. Is it common for d-lineman like Washington to be a finalist? What about o-line guys?
  14. Surprised Miller for Silsbee wasn’t a finalist. He seemed to dominate every defense they played.
  15. I just can’t see coach K going out losing both his last game at Cameron Indoor AND a Final 4 game to UNC in the span of a month. I think he’s going to pull a Brady and come back. Next year’s recruiting class is too good to pass up.
  16. UNC’s lazy passing is keeping Duke in the game.
  17. Xavier's game-winning bucket also looked way more like a shot put throw than someone shooting a basketball. Surprised it didn't crack the backboard.
  18. I'm not sure I will ever get used to LCM having a coach that other teams want to poach. Its certainly a good problem to have but it makes me uneasy lol.
  19. They also must have money on Xavier. They’re appalled at every call A&M gets lol
  20. Should've listened to my momma when she told me not to feed the trolls
  21. No, I was simply taking your logic and applying it to your views on football coaches. "It's like we are having a topic debate/discussion on high school bands. 95-98% of this forum, including me, has no first hand knowledge of playing in the high school band. So, for decent and somewhat expert opinions, I would defer to someone that has been involved in the band." This logic tells me that your opinions on here are invalid because you've never won a state championship as a head football coach. So, for decent and somewhat expert opinions, I will defer to someone that has been involved in winning a state championship in football. Like you, I have never been involved in winning a state championship. But unlike you, I don't have a meritless set of criteria that defines a coach's success that I try to shove down everyone's throats.
  22. Its tough to get a feel for what Lamar actually spends on it because athletics is lumped into the "Auxiliary" line item on the financial statements with a lot of other departments. However, their budget breaks out all athletic revenue and expense items separately. You are probably correct saying they don't make what they spend back, because their budgeted athletic revenues for fiscal year 2022 (9/1/21 thru 8/31/22) are about $3.9 million, while their budgeted athletic expenses for that period are about $13.6 million.
  23. My coworker's husband is a local high school soccer coach and I have heard these same complaints coming from him. He said it takes almost the entire first half to get used to playing on turf.
  24. Yepp, both of my parents were West Orange class of 74. Dad had 4 younger siblings that graduated from WO throughout the rest of the 70s.
  25. Interesting. My only guess is maybe they want to make it their new Admin building if they’re looking to move from the one on Park. That Wells Fargo branch was nice on the inside from what I remember.
