Its a difference in knowing and understanding. Coaches who understand will realize there's a different approach needed. But as I said before it takes a special coach in those situations.

And coaches need to understand what situation theyre in. Kid A might have great support, financial backing, and access to all these different things while kid B might not even eat a decent meal outside of school or have a decent bed to get a good night of rest in. Those factors can show up in behaviors and habbits sometimes and if you don't consider different living situations you might assume kid B is less deserving because he might seem less disciplined or motivated. You invest a little extra effort into kid B and you've got a diamond in the rough a lot of times though. I've seen it happen way too many times. It takes a special kind of coach in those situations though

He played a couple more games and padded his stats against some of the weaker teams in district. Babin put up 2 or 300 yards on the regular and still had a higher completion percentage against teams that were expecting him to pass it while Foster caught teams slipping with payaction passes vs 10 in the box

Foster probably threw less than 30 passes with 85% being 10 yards or less. Stop playing 🤣

Newton definitely looks like the head of the district right now. I surely wouldn't consider Woodville a "big dog" after what happened last year. I think we're the only team in the district that has beaten Newton in the last decade though. And we're 4-0 against Hardin the last 4 times we met beating them by at least 30 each time. We've missed the playoffs once in the last decade while Hardin has only made the playoffs 2 or 3 times in the last decade. Last year's Hardin team was exceptional but they lost a lot of key players from that team including the guy who lead in rushing yards and tackles I believe. They have a good OLine returning but lost the 3 top backs in a heavy running offense. Defense will not be the same without Jones.

If I'm not mistaking you picked one of those teams to beat Woodville last year also

You use the same talking points in every situation not realizing every situation is different. Woodville is not every other school. Yes, we have playmakers if the coaching staff utilizes them correctly. Do we have a State championship team? Maybe not. But there's probably not many teams outside of Newton in region 3 who could give us real problems

Your dreaming. Hardin lost everybody. They had one good class of players. The same class Brady played with before he moved to Anahuac. Those guys have graduated now

Probably won't happen but getting opinions from some of the "little league coaches" who have watched the boys grow and develop for years might not be a bad idea either way.

He didn't come from Evadale?

Looks like they might have landed a good coach who may stick around and put legit effort into trying to improve the program over the next several years. Good luck Warriors

Barbay was probably never in a district as tough as the one Crumedy had either. Most disappointing thing about Crumedy's stay was the loss to Shepherd. I think low team morale played into that a little. Maybe if he had scheduled a little lighter for preseason they go into that game feeling a little better about themselves and possibly pull off a win. I don't think the people at Jasper care much for barely making the playoffs though. They want to be serious state contenders and that's probably why he scheduled the teams he scheduled.

We got more receivers available if the coaching staff chooses the right replacements . Hopefully he can get some work in with them this spring and summer. He played with a couple of them on jv a couple years back. Nearly the entire OLine returns. They need major gains in the weight room though

I figured it was a strong possibility he'd decommit from the moment I heard he committed. Its smart to keep your options open in most cases. I expect he'll probably pick up a significant amount of offers after some summer visits and a really good senior season.

OK I misunderstood what you were saying. Coaches can't seem to get the best out of all the players though. Lot of guys didn't play up to their potential. Partially because some weren't being put on the field. Defense was just horrible the majority of the year. Offense was pretty good as expected but it was questionable at times also. Critical play near the goal line against Edgewood and we hand it up the middle to a hundred pound sophomore (very talented but still young) instead of giving it to our senior 230 pound returning offensive player of the year who scored the game winning TD in the state semi finals the year before. That play ended up being ruled a fumble when that probably could have been avoided. I was very confused about that

Yea but thanks. I did some research and it definitely looks like Woodville's overall academic performance has significantly dropped in recent years. I didn't realize it was getting that bad

OK so compare it to Kirbyville

Not too bad considering Woodville has the bigger classrooms of these schools. Kids are able to learn better in smaller classrooms but I'm pretty sure Woodville is above average compared to other schools it's size. All the Tyler County schools are decent though

I hope so. But judging by Woodville's performance from 7th through varsity it looks like it might be going down hill. The defense definitely could have been better than what was shown last year and that needs to be fixed
