The same group was WIDE OPEN when Barrier played with them in 8th grade. They only would have gotten better had Brady stayed and they remained in a simular offense
-
Sorry to hear that for you guys. Maybe if Coldspring starts making some noise he could have something else to discuss
-
Woodville shouldn't run out of talent for the next 5 years at least. Where you coaching at lately? Dont hear you talking about Coldspring much anymore
-
His Dad was the head coach if I'm not mistaking and Hardin had athletes. They could have been successful in multiple different offenses. If Woodville continues to sink it's because the current staff is doing everything it can to make sure it does
-
I don't really keep up with it. I know coaches move around but I don't think it's normal to jump around that rapidly. He never stayed any one place for over a year within a 5 year span.
-
It's mostly coaches who are shopping their kids around who end up bouncing around like that.
-
Yep. Forgot about that 8th grade: Hardin Freshman year: Anahuac Sophomore year: Rusk Junior year: Anahuac Senior year: Barbers Hill
-
He started at Hardin, slid over to Anahuac, then bounced over to Barbers Hill. Should have just stayed put at Hardin

Really good high school players sometimes don't receive D1 offers for different reasons. Some don't show up at as many camps as others and when they do they might have a bad day at the camp and not look that impressive. Some don't participate in powerlifting and track events that some scouts use to verify strength and speed. Some don't have a lot of film readily available. Some just don't fit the "measurables" that scouts look for at certain positions. Some have bad grades or test scores. Lot of things have to get checked off for D1 offers most times and the best 3A high school players don't always hit all the checks. I'm sure Jones can play somewhere although it may not be D1 and who's to say he doesn't end up at a D1 after a couple years at a juco or D3. It's happened before

Barbers Hill I hear
-
We'll find out soon enough my guy
-
Yea the guys will have to be a lot tougher than last year. A lot of those sophomores will be juniors so hopefully there will be some mental and physical maturity. DLine gone have to really get after it for 4 quarters
-
Hardin lost the entire backfield except the qb. They'll still be able to move the ball some with the big OLine but it won't be the same. Defense won't be the same either. Woodville will be a lot faster and will have a little more depth than Hardin
-
It's not unreasonable to form that opinion based on what happened last year and you may be right. I just know what Woodville has and know it could be very competitive if things fall in place. Our coaching staff has a little adjusting to do so nothings guaranteed but we definitely got some pieces.
-
Newton actually lost a lot up front to graduation so the match up between Newton and Woodville could be a little closer this year depending on a few variables, the main being coaching. Woodville will probably have more overall team speed but then again KJ and Izayah will probably be a handful by themselves so we'll find out soon enough
-
We'll see
-
QB from Woodville moved. Hardin still not going to beat Woodville. It could be competitive with Hardin's size and experience up front though. Think they return 3 or 4 from the OLine and got a 350 pound move in from Liberty to add to that
-
Well you just don't know better but I do
-
Little league can't make the coaching staff put the right guys in the right position. Not everybody on last years defense came through the little league program. Some were move ins who had never played football previously
-
The defense should improve some since just about everybody returns. How much it improves will probably depend on the coaching
-
Woodville' jv beat Newton the year before last but yea this past season wasn't good for Woodville at all
