Houston Chronicle has BH ranked #5 in the area. I know it’s early, but they have looked really good so far.

BH is 16-2 on the season. 

Got it. Last year discounts the previous to trips to the State Championship Game. There is not one person on planet Earth who would not pick FBM to win this district. 

In the 5 years prior to last season FBM made it all 5 regional finals and played in two state title games. Their bad year last year they went 10-1. They got their reputation by doing stuff like beating Manvel by 30 in a regional final and beating our district champ 49-0 in a third round game. They usually have the most talent of any 5A school in the area outside of Manvel to go with one of the top 10 coaches in the area. Teams can have off nights but their reputation is very well deserved. 

Frankly, Whitehouse was terrible last year. Prospects this year aren’t great. I’m wondering whether the Westerberg name should carry as much weight as it does. BH improved under Westerberg Sr, but that improvement also came during an era of disproportionate growth in BH’s favor, and they only did marginally better than they had done prior to his arrival. Kyler Murray and Allen HS having 7,000 kids is where the Westerberg legacy has to be traced.

Great post. Too many people believe that their values and their life experiences are the only values and life experiences that should apply to everyone else. 

I totally get kids being burned out of baseball. The best athletes play multiple sports and each sport requires a different set of skills that make you a better all around athlete. I know I burned one of my boys out and put too much pressure on him.  I should have enjoyed the moments more than PUSHING him to do better and be PERFECT. 3-4 is a great day and I questioned the one AB that he took for strike 3. Yes he did get to college and yes he was done after his first year and it was totally my fault. Parents, learn from myself and other parents that push their kids to get this D1 scholarship and play at the next level. Spent countless amounts of money on travel ball, hotels, Perfect game crap, on and on and on.......Now i am sitting back wishing I would have enjoyed these moments watching MY BOY just play ball. Sorry but just my admittance to being an over bearing prick to my kids when they were just wanting to go play ball without all that pressure from Dad. If I could do it over again!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no dog in the fight either nor do I know any details. I do know winning and popularity is not everything. It lakes a lot more than that to be good leader, educator and administrator. 

Have to have the talent pool for that.

Good season Cougars cannot beat someone when they get to hold on absolutely every play without repercussions all night long.

Just from his interview, he demonstrates a team concept and lack of ego that is needed by all head coaches. Crosby is blessed to have him. I, as a coach, love his success because he examplifies a successful coach who was hired with NO head coaching experience. Great job.

For weeks this has been going around. The only people I go through are Coach Faircloth and the superintendent. A LOT of information that has been stated as facts by some has been completely wrong during all this. Not specifically on message boards, but in the community. I think I'm up to seven or eight different guys that people "know for a fact" are the replacement coach. But the current coach as of this afternoon is still there. Until that changes we won't be reporting on it. 

Fifteen years ago, Crosby and Barbers Hill were in different districts that were much less competitive than the modern day 22-5ADII. And as I recall, both schools were getting thumped by PN-G in both predistrict play and the playoffs. I recall Crosby losing 37-7 one year and 38-7 the next, and Barbers Hill losing to PN-G five consecutive times over four seasons.
Fast forward to today, when both schools have 300+ students more than PN-G, a ton more upscale subdivisions in town and at least in Barbers Hill's case, lots of nice, new facilities and cash to spend on coaches from Allen, and it's a different story.
If there was a program that we can legitimately say was punching above its weight class back then, it was Dayton. Look at them now.

NFHS is the worst thing that ever happened to high school football degenerate like me. I literally watch 10+ hours of games/film per week on there. Hopefully watch/re-watch Crosby’s football AND basketball team make a run to the title game. 

Yes those pooch kicks had a low trajectory that allowed returns a couple that went almost to the house. If pooching it MUST get height to force a fair catch. Championship teams in any sport must do the following 1- Great defense 2- Run a mistake free basic offense 3-Have great SPECIAL TEAMS or plays as they flip fields and change big momentum 👍🏻✝️🐻

The Defensive Coordinator came in with the new coach. The changed the defensive scheme during two a days. I would “assume” that HS kids were trying to adjust to new assignments and schemes in a short period of time could cause some breakdowns in assignments throughout the year. As far as punting goes, I know in the past a lot of teams use QB because there’s times where they scan before kicking and may take off. I don’t care for short kick offs, but even teams with a lot more talent do it.  Anyways, my .02

Stick to Volleyball 

One thing that isn’t getting mentioned enough is the breakdown of BH’s 3rd phase. For a school of that size, and talent base, they have to be able to produce better special teams play. Specifically punting and kickoffs.  Hats off to the QB for pulling double duty as the punter, but that team would have benefited greatly from better punts all night; especially that last one.  The short kickoffs appeared to be done out of necessity, but again, starting at the 35 vs the 20 makes a big difference.  The battle of field position matters in games like this and BH’s special teams execution hurt them at the worst times.
