  1. I've seen these linemen for Vidor first hand, and these kids are huge! Heck, they gotta be eating something... :o I'll tell you first hand these kids put down alot of food, I've seen them eat. That's not to say that they are out of shape and won't be able to go when called upon. I got a chance to talk to some of Vidor's starting offensive line (which played last year and went 4 quarters in every game), they said they ran 4 miles a day in addition to what the rest of the team was required to do for the summer camp. You're telling me that these boys who went 4 quarters last year in every game that has ran 4 mile everyday during the summer can't go 4 quarters!?! You got to be joking me. Everyone knows that Vidor's O-line plays rough and tough every game every down all 4 quarters. If you think I'm lying ask some of the D-line that has played against them. Not saying they can't go 4 quarters against marginal/mediocre teams. Just saying 20-4A is not a "private school" league (TAPPS,etc.). And, all of the pre-season hype will mean squat when district play begins. In my humble opinion, Central will wear down the Pirates. We'll see. I'm just saying these boys went 4 quarters last year (without a problem) against the same boys they will be playing this year. I'm not degrading anyone's defense but to say that a team in district 20-4A will wear Vidor's O-line down is just absurd. I have the upmost respect for every team in Vidor's district but I highly doubt that any team will wear Vidor down so much deeming them unable to finish the game. Can you name me one game where one single player on Vidor's O-line did not finish a game (excluding injuries)? And I believe someone last year compared Vidor's O-line to Lidocaine "Vidor's O-line is like lidocaine, they slowly wear you down bit by bit and BAM they bust one." And if I'm not mistaken these are the same boys who played on the line last year.

  3. I also like how this thread was supposed to be about ranking teams and yet again ended up turning into a discussion about Vidor. Does this happen on every single thread?
  4. True that! I believe the QB has the arm and the ability to do what ever is needed. They just have not needed to put it in the air. If someone is able to stop the running game you will see a change of plans! ;D With the tams Vidor has played, Coach Matthews really ought to be airing the ball out at least close to 50% of the time so the qb and receivers can get in sync. That would really open the game up for them. Why pass the ball in preseason if you don't intend on passing it in district. Crosby is not good this year and the players don't pick the preseason schedule. If you have any complaints about a schools preseason schedule call the head coach...I'm sure he has all the answers you are searching to find.
  5. Thank you NDNWarrior for the respect. Sad I can say the same to all of your fellow comrades.
  6. ;D OIV ;D Back when I played I was a lineman myself and we didn't get much credit for the holes we opened or for the block we made so the runningbacks could put points on the board. It was "Did you see that running break 20 tackles" when noone actually touched him or, "Wow the o-line completely missed that play send them all to the gallows". Point is the line has a very difficult and crucial role on the team and just doesn't get the credit they deserve. I'm not talking about just the Pirate line. I'm talking about each and every lineman from every team. Yall are the hardest workers on the field keep it up!
  7. I agree with it all except the passing. We are averaging over 5 yards a carry with 9 in the box. When and if they stop the run we can throw it. I guarantee you if we came out throwing and turned it over this message board would be going crazy.Lets let the coaches game plan there doing a pretty good job. i'm not sayng we should go 4 wide, just saying mix it up a bit more, i thought the play calling was great against st thomas, lots of mis direction to keep em guessing I agree, St. Thomas had no idea where the ball was going at any point in the game until the back was in open ground. I believe the play calling will remain similar to this as long as the Pirates continue to execute the plays as well as they did. As far as I saw we did enough passing to jeep the CB off the line, 9 in the box means 9 blocking ;D. With this being said, Vidor needs to focus on HJ, watch film and further review assignments and further continue to make progress.
  8. Wow png wins two games in the new reservation (Note: They didn't win a single game at the reservation last year!) and they think it is some sacred ground which only the native americans can win on. Yall are saying we played pop warner teams, our pop warner competiton could've beat Crosby worse than yall did (No disrespect to Crosby.).
  9. Vidor has an overall grade of a B. Offense- Big line and strong RB=moving the ball. Still need to improve on both running and passing. QB looked more relaxed on the field last night. Seems that he trust his lineman will protect him now. Defense- Better coverage against St. Thomas but I wouls like to see further improvement and would like to the d line be able to get off of blocks alot quicker. Special Teams- Kick off is looking good as we as return, haven't seen much of punt to judge. Punt return can use it's fair share of improvements as well as the accuracy of the extra point PAT kicker. Overall Vidor still has areas they need to improve but I am seeing improvement everyweek. I hope they will keep a level head and not get too out of hand with the predistrict wins.
  10. I was at the game and the WB D is very impressive. WB couldn't even buy a call though. Officials were terrible, half the time the head official wouldn't even let the press box or the coaches know what the flag was thrown for. :-\ You know what? The little group we was sitting by was discussing the same thing that the head official looked loss and never signaled what the call was. You must be one of the Pirate players I was sitting by... Possibly...but I think everyone out there felt the same way about the head offcial not signaling any penalties.
  11. Lots, eh? Then you won't have any trouble recalling which plays, right? I hope that you are not from Kelly. The last thing the Bulldogs need is sore-loser fans. I'm not from Kelly and my wife is from Vidor, which is why I was at the game. I watched #30, I believe(small back) cut block at the knees all night. whats wrong with that? I guess he trying to say the chop block could be called clipping but it can't since it was inside the tackle box. No. I know it's legal.( though there have been efforts to make it illegal for safety reasons) Just some teams seem to do it a lot. It was just an observation, and maybe a warning to future opponents. Ok sorry I didn't know what your were getting at. I did see alot of cut blocks from lineman and backs alike. Glad to see we aren't afraid of getting dirty this year.

  14. I do not know about the cussing part because i was not able to hear what was said. sadly this is true, when one of the Kelly lineman ran off the field their coach met him half way, jerked him by the collar and forcefully escorted him to the sideline yelling the entire time. Definitely not the proper way to handle the situation, I believe some action should be take against this. Yes i know I am a Pirate fan but if Coach Mathews or anyone else on the staff were to touch one the players in that sort of manner I would want something to be done.
  15. And Vidor hasn't won anything Yet Whoever said you have to do anything to have a pep rally. I'm sorry i thought pep rallies were to get the fans excited about their team, not to celebrate.
  16. Whats sad is i dont think the majority of this thread is even vidor fans! lol Your right it's only the same three Vidor fans...myself, Rusted ans the picture with the orange mustang(sorry your name slips my mind) the rest are mainly out of town. But Vidor is causing the uproar on here...not the other people who are posting on this thread saying Vidor played well..just the Vidor fans.
  17. RustedCutlass you are a joker, And yes he is only picking in good nature. If you go look at the Vidor WO-S thread you will se what he is talking bout.
  18. Let's get it up to 23 pages. Practice hard this week Pirates. Kelly is going to be fun, play with the same intensity and we should have a great outcome!
  19. I will be reading anything said about Vidor and I will defend them within reason. And that's what i was getting at, as long as people are talking about the team who cares how long it goes.
  20. Let me give insight to my last post. I was not attacking any moderator. I was just saying that i didn't think it was right for one to say it is ridiculous for people to post so much on one single thread as if he/she were saying we were posting to much. Who is to say how many pages one thread can go, let the people decide that one.
  21. I think he was being sarcastic. Cooper said it multiple times...he was not joking. But just remember guys we can't even call it a scrimmage anymore, just look at the Vidor thread...it's just a practice where the happen to keep score.
  22. Man i think the moderators have more comments on here than actual fans do. I agree with the fellow who said that Dayton's game was not deemed a PRACTICE but yet Vidor's is. How strange. And why do the moderators care if it goes 1 page or 100 pages; they are here to moderate, not to tell us how many pages a thread can contain. Many people dog the Coop's because their comments as moderators come off as being biased, not saying that other moderators comments aren't biased but that's reason they are being attacked in my opinion. Whether it be deemed a PRACTICE or not one thing can be said, and can not be argued with, Vidor physically dominated the line of scrimmage.
  23. Now we all know that if Vidor would've lost that everyone have dogged Vidor like they always do. "Typical Vidor to choke against a team with talent." Not saying that OF doesn't have talent but we all know that's what would've been said. I do appreciate all the possitive comments about the Pirates. To correct things Mathews started subbing a FEW in the second quarter and more from then on. I also don't see what 2000 or any other year has to do with the Pirates team this year. It's not like any of those players are on the field anymore, Vidor has a good group this year but will need to work very hard to stay on top. With this being said I think it was a good show by both teams and the coaches have seen what they need to work on for both sides of the ball. Good luck to both teams year. Keep it up Pirates!
  24. Where Vidor stands out is there offense. Their coaches preach that their best defense is their offense which in all actuality is true because if ones offense stays on the field then the opposing offense is left sitting on the bench. Back to the main topic of this thread now. I believe Vidor will have an extraordinary defense this year, now to the say the best that is yet to be determined, but I have faith that Coach Eskue will have the D line big and DB's ready.
