Pittsburgh now leads 17-10. Jasper falling apart in second half. Pittsburgh got two straight on-side kicks. Pittsburgh has adjusted. Jasper has made no adjustments.

I know I give Jasper grief for getting those Louisiana schools but I think they take this one. Funny thing is nothing may be wrong with Silsbee coaching, maybe just maybe they're getting beat by better teams at the certain time.
I hadn't been on here in a couple of weeks. I'm shocked to see this thread is at 4 pages - good to see the rivalry is still alive. I think Jasper's defense is better overall than last year. So, I'm interested to see how they match up with Silsbee's offense. I'm thinking this won't be a high scoring game. If it's not, I give the edge to my Bulldogs. However, if it is, I think Silsbee wins. Either way, I'm expecting a close game. And yes Buddy Garrity, you should be giving us a hard time about those Louisiana schools.

lol. funny that a fellow dawg fan( or may be not) seems to think in a years time that we last beat lcm that there has been such a drastic swing in the talent level of the two schools.
Laugh all you want. But, I don't think it's funny. Of course, I hope I'm wrong.

I think LC-M will win and I don't think it'll be close.

If true that Jasper wouldn't play WO-S, then that's pretty pathetic especially given the weak district. No offense to the other teams, but this has to be the weakest district Jasper has played in...ever. The UIL is really taking the competitiveness out of high school games, especially in the lower classifications. Competition sharpens skills and helps players earn scholarships. I fear all the participation trophies will hurt not only the game, but the kids in the long run. Oh well, so not looking forward to Jasper football this season. These things in addition to the coaching losses will hasten the decline.

Here is a sip of tea to Silsbee beating Jasper and not seeing them to late in the playoffs.
Another 2004 scenario would suit Jasper just fine.
-
I think Jasper's game plan will be to have some more of those 6 minute drives. But, they MUST end in touchdowns because I don't like our chances in a shootout. I think our defense gets a couple of stops and our offense holds onto the ball long enough to get Jasper the win. It will be an exciting, classic game. I hope the fans on both sides come out to support the teams who have fought so hard this season.

This is a hard game to pick. Jasper's play on the year so far as a whole can be described as bipolar, with injuries having something to do with that, but not all of it if we're making an honest assessment of our team. BC's win over Newton doesn't look as good as it did earlier in the year. Jasper's margin of victory over Cleveland was better than BC's. (Although, I know...the transitive property is not really applicable in sports.) In the wins and losses, Jasper's discipline (too many penalties and missed assignments) have been lacking. So, I think it comes down to which Jasper team shows up on Friday. If the good Jasper team with discipline shows up, Jasper wins by two td's. If the good Jasper team shows up with the lack of discipline they've shown in the prior games, it'll be a close win for Jasper or BC. If the bad Jasper team shows up, it'll be BC by a lot.

We [Jasper] are just not a good football team right now, definitely a regression from last year.
-
Vidor about to score again. Good for them for being the more disciplined team right now.
-
Jasper returns the favor two series in a row with another fumble.
-
Without the fumbles, we struggle. 14-14 game
-
Vidor 32 yard TD, 14-7 Jasper
-
Vidor is moving the ball very well. But, they have had some very inopportune fumbles. The last one was on Jasper's 1. Now, Jasper has it on their own 1.
-
Jasper's D gets fumble and turns it into a TD - 14-0 Jasper.
-
Jasper 7-0, over 7 min to go in 1st
-
I still have flashbacks from Jasper's championship game with Gilmer a decade ago. WO-S, it would help my recovery if you could mop the floor with them. I remember there were a few WO-S fans sitting on Jasper's side cheering us on - real class. You are the only team with the sound defense that I believed all year could give them fits. Good luck!
-
Congratulations Newton! You consistently exceed expectations. A lot of teams are totally envious of what you accomplish year in and year out.
-
Navasota has to be licking their chops right now.
-
Cant run Williams into the ground in this one Jasper.
Re-quoted -
Agreed on teams getting tougher. Therein lies the reason that as much as I luv the Spikes kid, I don't see us going much farther relying on 1-2 players solely running the ball regardless of our awesome line play on both sides.
-
Many fans have worried all year that we have no offensive diversity. If we could develop just a few simple, short route passing plays, it would make the running game lethal. That coupled with our improved defense would have us competing and winning with the best of them. It may be too late to get that going now. It's a shame because this team has even more potential and would love to see it maximized. Hopefully the staff has learned from the game management faux pas.
