Final 48-7 Jasper. After a tough pre-season, I am so proud of the way this Jasper team came together to finish the regular season, undefeated district championship. It's a new season. Let's go have some fun.

Huffman is unbeaten with a pretty weak pre-season schedule compared to Jasper. When you compare the common district opponents, Huffman's wins are more impressive in terms of point spread. Jasper hasn't faced any teams who had particularly strong passing games. I am not really sure how well the corners will hold up since we haven't seen them be consistently tested on this front. I also believe Jasper's running game will be the toughest that Huffman has faced thus far. Jasper's passing game needs work. Jasper's best strategy to win has to be on the ground - limit Huffman's offensive possessions and wear down their defense, because we will not win a shoot out.

I think LCM had more penalties then Jasper. I'll get the stats when I get home.

I don't know which team had more penalties. But, it didn't seem as if either team was being favored by the refs. Whataburger got their money's worth with the number of times their name was called when the flags were thrown. Overall sloppy game by both teams with neither appearing championship worthy tonight.

I now see why it's hard to win in Jasper. The refs help them out.

Refs called it equal on both sides - no benefit to Jasper. I would like to know why these teams had so many personal fouls - not like it is a heated rivalry; they haven't even played since the mid-90s. 

 

I don't know what got into Jasper's defense, but I like it. If they can keep it up, knock out the stupid penalties, and the receivers catch the easy passes, they'll win a couple playoff games.

I wonder what this game would be like without all the dumb penalties and 2 key turnovers (1 each side).

Jasper radio broadcast did a shot out to the legendary Coach Brack - great coach and even better man. I hope he's enjoying his retirement.

LCM hold, Jasper punts all the way to the 2 w/ no return.

Jasper intercepts at 15. But, block in the back moves it back to LCM 5 w/ about 50 seconds left in the half. Jasper is going to knee this half out.

Two more dead ball fouls (one on each team) - what the heck is going on!

Jasper scores and goes for 2 again, but makes it this time. There was a second unsportsmanlike penalty on Jasper (still playing undisciplined). Under 5 minutes in the half. I guess I understand why LCM did the on-sides. But, not sure it was needed at that point.

LCM interestingly does on-side kick. Jasper recovers.
