    WO-S always tries to play a strong pre-district and there is a reason for it.  That is why looking back, the  likes of PN-G, Jasper, Bay City, Silsbee, Newton (who also isn't scared to play up), Central, Giddings, Foster and the list could go on....show up on the schedule.  Yes, we might take some lumps along the way but it only makes you better.  Anything worth doing is worth doing well.  As a little bit of history nerd, it reminds me of this excerpt from John F. Kennedy's speech at Rice in regards to the space race.
    "But why, some say, the moon?  Why choose this as our goal?  And they may ask why climb the highest mountain?  Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic?  Why does Rice play Texas?

    I wouldn't worry too much about this kid, First, he doesn't think Crosby should play WO-S as they should favor Houston area "5A powers" like Foster, only to find that WO-S scheduled Foster over the past two years and Crosby has not.  So then he has to back up and make it look like Foster is gonna donkey stomp WO-S, but then he looks at the stats and sees that might not happen.  He is just scrambling to find any way he can to portray Crosby as being oh so superior to WO-S.
    Gas, this guy crawls backward so much that he will probably be Crosby's rep for the Intl. Crawfish Festival over in Breaux Bridge next year!

    I'm already sensing something that needs to be addressed right now. You play 11 at a time. Period. We should have won that game last yr and were one play away from winning it. There are no moral victories. If we do lose then we lose and we need to take like any other loss we've ever had. Learn from it anD get better. Last year I felt like we got satisfied with a close loss and I feel like it's what got us beat against Newton. So, again, they can't put those 3000 kids on the field. Only 11, we need to go into this game expecting to win just like we did against Silsbee.

    A few of us(Me, TD, BigD95 &Area27mom)   knew about this team years ago.  It just was a matter of them sticking together and putting in the grind to be where they are today.  They lost a few kids to other schools as well.  Alot of us being waiting patiently for this group and there time has come.  Sit back and enjoy the show, this group of kids been winners a long time now.  Not just on the field but off the field as well. 
    Note : People tend to 4get this group been playing together since the age of 5.

    I can tell you one thing , when Dillon sterling cole left the Mustangs , everyone said they wouldn't make it far. Ended up at state. When trey Baldwin left them this year, everyone thought they'd just be flat out basic. These young kids have proved pretty much every one wrong . There is not many people that can say they knew the Mustangs we're going to be this good. This may be one of the best teams they've had in the past few years. Not only will they stop you, but they will put up tons of points on you.

    85 you will never ever hear an excuse from me if we lose.  All you will hear is good game and the better team Won. I wasn't raised like that too make excuses neither where my kids.  That's the differences between us and alot of you'll.

    This should make for a great game! I have WOS by 2 TD's, also Badsanta, DSC is a helluva athlete but he has moved on to greener pastures so trying to bring him into the equation is pedaling backwards! JD is the QB and is doing a mighty fine job for the Mustangs last year and this year!

    Before it gets too nasty in here please remember that both teams respect each other. I for one always root for Silsbee except for this week. As the Silsbee fans should too. Let's just pray for a good injury free game that helps both of us get better for a long playoff run. We both represent SETX and that should be enough.

    Jasper will compete no matter how many players are hurt.  Our coaches and players will not overlook this game that is for sure. One week and one team at a time this is our philosophy or it should be anyway. Just saying!

    Whoa, guys!  I love the confidence but WOS/LG, if it happens, will be a LONG way away.  One game at a time, this week...Jasper.  Even without their main weapons they still are dangerous.

    I will say this, there was a guy sitting a few rows down from me, and all game long all he did was criticize everything WOS did.  I mean we all do the armchair QB/Coach thing at times, but this guy was really way overboard.  I won't say which player he was associated with.  I don't know if it was his dad, uncle or what.  If WOS ran inside he complained they should have run outside, if they ran outside he complained why aren't they running up the middle.  If they passed he complained and said they should be running the ball. When they ran he complained they should be passing....same when WOS was on defense.  They should do this, they should do that......

    really got old fast.  WO-S has a great staff and always had.  Lots of experience on that staff.  I'm sure they know better than him, me and most everyone else in the stands what they need to do.  That is why this individual is sitting in the stands and not on the sidelines.

    We were keeping count of penalties from the stands. It's always an interesting mathematical equation anytime we play at the Reservation. Two years ago WO-S had 17 and PNG 8. Last night, if my count was correct, WO-S had 14 and PNG 8. I may have missed one or two that were declined and did not factor into the final number, but WO-S definitely had more yellow flags than the Indians. The PA News writer obviously got it wrong. TD said 12 (WO-S) to 7 (PNG). That's more believable. I disagree on the two block in the backs called against WO-S on the opening kickoff and the punt return in the 4th quarter. One the first one, the blocker never touched the defender and even threw up his hands to show he did not touch the guy. Also, on the punt return, that was a clean and legal block. No flag should have been thrown. Overall, the officiating was better in this game than the last two WO-S/PNG games, even though WO-S was stung more times than PNG...again. The PNG O-line did not get called a single time for holding. When you have fast guys coming at the bigger, slower guys on an offensive line, they have to hold to keep them away from the QB. It happened plenty last night, but no calls were made. 
    After having played PNG, LCM, Vidor, and Nederland...PNG was the best opponent of the four (even though our scrimmage with Vidor was for only one half). PNG has to be one of the top two teams in their district and it would surprise me if they finished lower than second. Their defense was not soft. A little slow, yes, but it is the best one they have fielded in the last four years WO-S has played them.  
    The cramping up by PNG players in the second half is definitely a conditioning issue. PNG did not have to do nearly the amount of running all over the field last week like they did last night. No team in setx has a more demanding off season and practice regimen than WO-S. This is why WO-S can play so many kids both ways and still be fresh in the 4th quarter. If you want to look at JUST ONE of the reasons WO-S is so dang good year in and year out, you can look right there. Die hard WO-S fans remember what it was like when Cornel Thompson left for three years. The drop off on defense, conditioning, and overall player conduct started to show immediately. CT was the off season training director for Coach Hooks all those years, and he continues in that role today. Even with the small enrollment numbers WO-S has, there are plenty of good football players walking the halls at the school. The reason many of them (but not all) don't play football is because they cannot keep up with the demands of practice and workouts required. At WO-S, if a new kid wants to try out for the team, they don't just give him an audition. The coaches tell him, "See if you can keep up with us at practice." When Cornel Thompson left to coach at Huntsville and Palestine, they (parents of players) did not like his ways of practice and workouts, therefore, he was made unwelcome and left. If parents are willing to allow the coaches to make them tough as marines, like Cornel has always done, then more teams would be successful on the field. This post is not meant to be a knock on PNG. As a long time follower of setx high school football, I have high respect for PNG football, history, tradition, and community support. But since some of the PNG fans here have brought up the subject of toughness and conditioning, I thought an explanation of the WO-S formula was merited. One of the PNG posters said earlier that WO-S plays physically "nasty"...which has truth to it. The hardest hits and tackles made last night were by WO-S. Faircloth just coaches more along a finesse style, which works for their players and skill sets. WO-S is based more on use of speed and physical play. 
    The game last night was competitive and not sealed up until late in the 4th quarter. Both teams benefitted from playing this game and will be better because of it. Many of you PNG posters have shown much respect for WO-S. It is appreciated by WO-S fans. Let me return the favor and say that we are relieved to get out of the Reservation with a win. WO-S fans have much respect for your program and Coach Faircloth. Best wishes to your run at a district title.

    There are MANY upset LCM fans right now.  Speaking from inside knowledge, I don't think the kids have bought into this new offense.  Maybe a few more weeks and things may change, but they can't wait too long.

    First off I didn't get to vote since I just moved back  into the district. What's the point of this web site if we can't speak what we believe? You can ask anyone on here I support  LCM on every game but if the coaches are changing the offense whole time how are did kids going to adjust to the game? I might be the only only on here complaining, but I can assure you there were a lot of upset LCM fans last night.

    Has anyone watched film or the replay on the game. I'm curious to know if the block in the back on KJ's long punt return was legit. Man it gave some of us in the stands déjà vu from the penalty on DT return in the State Champ game. From our side, it was a text book block. It seems now a days refs see a hard hit in a return and automatically think it has to be illegal. It could have been a good penalty but from what I saw, it wasn't. No griping from me just really want to know.

    Well, from what I saw PNG's turnovers hurt in the first half. We should have been up at least two touchdowns at half. Second half, WOS made some great adjustments and it showed on the field. Our defense did great, but on 3 and forever we can't let down and allow the qb to burn us deep and get a first down. That was frustrating. Someone said WOS was small. Uh no not really. Maybe their D backs, but their speed to the ball was incredible! Game could have gone either way and WOS is always awesome against us. Just a different game. We need to clean up the turnovers and work on catching the dang ball. Giblin is back in rare form. We should definantly compete in district, but I hope we do more.

    Well in my humble opinion I'd like to say great game to PNG. This turned out to be another great game between these two.  It wasn't settled until 3 min left in the 4th.  The turnovers in the 1st half were huge.  Yall could have been up at least 1 maybe 2 scores instead of being tied at the half.  I thought PNG defense pressured JD a good bit in the 1st half and the O line for WOS seemed a bit unsettled although there were some great throws and receptions.  Seems like we committed to the run more in the second half and that not only settled things down but also began to tire out PNG defense.  When WOS got the ball inside their own 10 wit about 4 mins left, i thought for sure PNG would come out and try to step up on D and get a stop, but they looked ragged and tired by then.. 

    Good learning experience for both, a game of this caliber will bring out areas you need to work on.
