1. The goalkeeper for Lorena had a heck of a game. During the game Erin Miller had a couple of shots to the corners that I thought were MONEY. But the Gk made some good stops. Miller also nearly scored with one second left in regulation, but the keeper got the angle and forced it just outside the left post. Lady Raider keeper Mackenzie Watts also had an awesome game. She saved a penalty kick in the first half. It was a great game, all in all. I had a great time following this playoff run. Good luck next year, Lady Raiders.
2. The Lady Raiders got down a goal early and at halftime the score was 0-1. One minute into the second half, Erin Miller passed to Katie Evans, who put the ball to the left past the GK. Two minutes later, Erin Miller took a long pass from Lanie Smith for a breakaway goal past the defenders and beat the keeper 1 v 1. At that point Montgomery was really rattled and began making mistakes. A foul gave Lexi Baggett a free kick that she launched into the left corner. It was an exciting game.
3. Lumberton Lady Raiders Vs LCM Ladt Bears Friday at LCM. Early game (5?)
4. After downing Jasper last Friday, and Livingston Monday, the Lady Raiders are undefeated in district play through the first 6 games. 4 games to go. Also have top two leading scorers in Katie Evans and Erin Miller. The defense gave up its first goal of district play Friday to Jasper. Mark your schedule for the rematch at Jasper on March 20. Should be a good one. First game Lumberton won 2-1.
5. After downing Jasper last Friday, and Livingston Monday, the Lady Raiders are undefeated in district play through the first 6 games. 4 games to go. Also have top two leading scorers in Katie Evans and Erin Miller. Go girls!
6. Should be a good game tonight at the Carroll Thomas Stadium. Lady Raiders are playing without center full Holly Scarborough. So we will see how the youngsters fare without her back there.
7. Congrats to BH for the win. And to the Lady Raiders and Coach Goad for getting the program back on the right track.
8. Coach Goads record will speak for itself. If they make the playoffs for the first time since 2008, then that will be a pretty darn good job. If not, still not bad in my humble opinion, considering how many players left the program the past few years. To be in the running is an exciting time for the girls. All of the adults involved should be excited for the team, and try to see the good things that are going on there. The team does have ALOT of Seniors this year for the first time in years. Last year they finished with one senior on the team. The rest had quit. I don't think that there is any "quit" in this bunch.  Anyway, I wish them the best of luck.
9. My daughter was at the game. She said the WestBrook coach made an ass of himself. What happened?
10. I heard from my daughter that this game is cancelled. I am not sure why. Something about scheduling?
11. Lady Raiders spent the 2nd half playing keep away. Coulda been double digit scoring.
12. Lumberton Girls 6 Hamshire Fannett 0.  Goals by Kelsey Kimbrough, Casey Gutierrez, Shay Mitchell, and Erin Miller (3 goals). Got the game in between rain storms!
13. Yes, please . If anyone has all of the scores, please post em. Lumberton Saturday games for Saturday game went like this- Semi final vs PNG. lost 0-1    ( Lady Raiders had several close shots on goal that just would not fall.) 3rd Place game Vs Pearland Dawson  Lady Raiders won 3-1 Heard that Nederland won all three pool games, but were in Silver bracket? And how did PNG get into Gold bracket if they did not win their pool either?( Pearland Dawson was first) Some odd scoring in this tourney. If anyone knows scores and how the scoring was done, I would really like to know.
14. Lumberton defeated LCM 2-1 in shootout. Beat Lufkin 2-0. Beat Hamshire Fannett 3-0. The Lady Raiders play Saturday at 10 Am in Gold Bracket at the stadium. Does anyone know who got 1st seed from the other pools?
15. PNG won 1-0.  Very good match. Both teams looked good. A fun game to watch.
16.
Looks like the parents are going to have to subsidize those broke college students.... I know that is where my daughter hopes her fees will come from.  ::) LOL
Yeah, I usually subsidize a few of them!
17. Duncans Spindletop Select Girls U-17 team won first place by winning all three games. But are forfeiting a chance to win state because only 8 players can commit to travel to play at San Marcos the weekend of state. The state tourney was moved because of rainouts at Western District play. Changed the weekend to when school lets out. Some players have travel plans. And have several players injured. One has a Kelly HS tourn that weekend. It is a shame, because this team would have a good shot. I know my daughter is bummed out about not getting the chance.
18. RE: Indoor adult leagues forming.  My daughter plays on a co-ed soccer team. I asked them if they are forming a girls or mens team for the indoor league(6 per side). The all said that $80 to play was out of their price range. These are pretty much all college kids. I know that the facility has to pay for itself, but that does sound high for the first year of existance. The fee is $50 and each player must join the association for $30. Minimum of 8 players must register. $640 for each team. Anyone have thoughts on this? I wonder how registration has gone so far?
19. Does anyone know of club volleyball teams having tryouts soon? My daughter will be 17 in March. Thanks for replies!
20. Shark trained my girls team(s) for several years. Never once did he attempt to recruit any of them. Wotsamatter here, weren't we good enough?!! (Just kidding.)
21. Very much a class act. SSSC was fortunate to have him training the players for the past 4 years. I coached against him and his teams always showed up ready to play. I gave up my team this year so that my daughter could be trained by Jan at Select. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.  There is a great article in the Sports Illustrated archives from 1982 about him. So long Flying Dutchman!
