1. Contests to all of the players honored. Shark has a point but last year there was no Super Gold team. Thank you to DBerry and the BE for putting one together this year. I follow h's soccer and I would have trouble getting it right myself. Its a difficult task!
2. The Lady Raiders played at Liberty Tuesday and won 6-1. In the first half it was 5-0 in first 15 minutes, then the coach made them play keep away. Liberty made a steal in front of the goal and scored on a nice shot that caught the keeper too far out. 2nd half the LR were only allowed to score on headers. Only one was scored when Erin got a beautiful cross and headed it in from the back post. I could not tell who crossed the ball. Silsbee girls tonight, then a big rematch with Kelly Tuesday at home. Last time out was 0-0 and Kelly advanced on Pks to win PNg tourney.
3. In girls, Lumberton should still be strong, based on games so far. Jasper will have a very good side also, and should push the Lady Raiders for 1st. Usually a big dropoff after those two. I have no idea about newcomer Splendora.
4. Friday the LR downed LCM 8-0. Have a bye Tuesday, then open district play at home Friday vs Livingston.
5. FINAL Lady Raiders 6 Brook 1. WB scored about 3 minutes into the game. Then LR coach Hopson put in the starters he [sub][/sub]benched for missing practice and it wasn't much of a contest from then on. Lumberton also missed a pk on a good save by the Brook keeper.
6. Congrats to the Lady Dawgs. The 0-0 game with Lumberton was great fun to watch. Stephanie is the best girl keeper in  East Texas. She made some great saves that robbed our Lady Raiders on pretty good shots. A Lady Raider Dad
7. The Ladt Raiders represented themselves very well in the PNG tourney. Downed LCM 5-0 Downed Bridge City 9-0 Downed Victoria West 3-0 Tied Kelly 0-0 but lost 3-4 in shootout. This was the semi-finals. Downed PNG 1-0 in the third place game. Despite winning 4 games, tying one game, and allowing zero goals, they had nobody deserving All Tournament honors? Does anyone have a list of the All Tournament players?
8. Lumberton Lady Raiders played in the Humble tourney. Tied Katy 1-1, defeated Atascocita 1-0, lost to Clear Falls 0-4. The goal vs Atascocita was scored by Shay Mitchell. The goal vs Katy was by Erin Miller.
9. Jim Duncans U18/19 Girls Super 2 team is looking for a keeper. Anyone interested please call Coach Duncan (409-498-3331). Can be experienced, or just a good athlete that would like to learn!  Thanks for any replies and or recommendations.
10. Thank you to Coach Chad Luttrell and Coach Jason Hopson for putting this event on each year for the players. It is a big deal to the kids that get to participate. In these days of "less soccer" recognition in the local media, it is pretty awesome that you guys are taking your time to do something to recognize the work of local HS soccer players.
11. Dmaher6- I didn't think the errors were intentional. Just errors. I understand you can only go with what you are told. Do you know if there will be a boys and girls Super Gold TEAM?
12. Congrats to Katie Evans for being selected as BE Super Gold Player of the Year. She is a great young lady. But where are the rest of the Super Gold selections? And the article that Daniel wrote has some glaring errors. He credits Katie with the Bi-District goal VS LCM, which was actually scored by Shay Mitchell. Also gave Katie an assist vs Magnolia that is an error. Katie did have an awesome year and playoffs. She does not need false credits. No wonder the newspaper is slowly going out of business. Every time you turn around they are cutting something and pissing off more people. If it is not football or basketball, the reporters just blow it off. I have about had it myself. I've been a subscriber since 1974, but I think I am done with BE.
13. Looks like soccer all district teams may suffer the same fate. Unless maybe they publish them at the same time as Super Gold. Cutting reporters and then adding duties to the remaining reporters prolly has them making some tough decisions about what to report on. I guess that newspapers in general are going the way of the dinosaur.  :(
14. Thanks WOSGRAD for the inside scoop. I figured something was up. I did notice a dropoff from last year of HS soccer stories during the season. I understand now. (Don't like it, but understand it. :()
15. I emailed the Beaumont Enterprise a couple of weeks ago asking when these (and All District Teams) would be in the newspaper and the sports editor replied that he did not have all of the information from coaches back yet. (?) He said they should have them out in a few weeks. I notice that last year, both were printed in the paper by mid April. C'mon BE. You can do better than this.
16. I was wondering... I didn't think RDRSCR08 was the Ms. Glover I know.
17. Are yall talking boys or girls? If girls, here is a breakdown. Lady Raiders vs Vidor-  won 5-0 Lady Raiders vs Nederland- won 2-0 (or was it 4-0?) Lady Raiders vs LCM- won 7-0 , then won 1-0 in Bi- District Lady Raiders vs PNG- lost 0-1 and in tourney tied 0-0. (Lost shootout, but should have won in reg time. Missed 4 shoulda's) Also downed Hf by 6. (Coulda been by double that.) Not too shabby...
18. It is good to hear some discussion on these boards! Thank to all who are posting! @ Truth- Yes I understand your point about Lady Raiders having a bounty of players on the All District team. We are very fortunate in that regard. Still, that should not affect who is the best player in the district. But it does. And I have to agree with RDRSCR08 ( Ms. Glover?) about the MVP choice by the coaches. In the two games in her district against Lumberton she never got a sniff of the goal. But she led the district in goals scored, so she wins MVP? That ain't right! No coach in the league held back his top scorers the way Hopson did. No way I will agree there.  All in all, it must be difficult for the coaches to pick these teams. Congrats to all of the awardees. They all work hard and deserve notice. Now, if the Enterprise would ever post the teams! And yep, Coach Hopson has done a dang good job with these Lumberton girls. I have coached about 80% of his players in Club Soccer over the past 7-8 years. And they all improve quite a bit when he gets them in his program. Some of it is practicing 5 days a week vs 2 days a week, but mostly he works hard to be a good teacher. Club soccer is available to every player in the district. Some choose to play and some don't. They may focus on other sports, while the Lumberton girls and boys focus on soccer.  Props to Coach Hopson and Coach Luttrell for keeping the players interested enough to keep working to improve. Anyway, these are my thoughts and opinions as a parent observing the program for the past 7 years!
19. Looks like Waco Midway will head to the state tourney next weekend. They defeated Friendswood 2-0 Saturday in the Region 3 Tourney.
20. @TruthMatters- I don't know who was awarded MVP of the league. Maybe that would help me understand better. And what was the selection criteria? Stats alone don't always tell the whole story. I know that Coach Hopson limits scoring by his starters to avoid running up the score against a weaker team. Do all coaches do the same? I Dunno. Of course, since I watched all of the Lady Raider games, I could make a case for 2 or three players that were as good or better than any player I saw them play against in district play. But I admit I am biased.  ;D And I have no idea why there are 15 players from Lumberton awarded. ??? Several do come off of the bench. Seems in years past there were about 11 max per team. If someone has the entire All District team list, maybe there are more overall positions this year?  15 does sound high.
21. Friendswood 4  Lorena 1  . Friendswood will play Waco Midway Saturday at 11:00 AM for entry to state tourney.
22. Don't know all of the team, but here are the Lumberton girls that made 37AAAA All District. ( From LHS website) Offensive MVP- Katie Evans Midfielder of the year- Shay Mitchell GoalKeeper of the Year- Makenzie Watts First Team All District- Erin Miller Lauren Glover Haley Bowman Holly Scarborough Lanie Smith Second Team All District- Lexi Baggett Casey Gutierrez Kennedy Cline Brittany Tremblay Honorable Mention- Macy Mitchell Sidney Duckworth Destin Corley Congrats to all. I hope we can find out the rest soon. Maybe the Enterprise will put it in Sundays paper. Now, my gripe.  :o  The Lady Raiders dominated every team in this district. How could they not have the MVP?
