  1. During the hurricane, we ended up in Austin for about a week and a half. My middle son wanted to enroll in school and Lake Travis was the school district. The school is pretty awesome with room to grow. I want to say they had a Chick-Fil-A, Pizza Hut, and Burger King in the cafeteria. At the time, they had a practice field and playing field (no bubble). They had a team doctor on staff who came to the school to complete physicals...enrolled on a Tuesday, physical done on Wednesday, played on Thursday. They seem to be up and coming then and they had an awesome New Orleans evacuee that year that led them to the playoffs. Wealthy little school..., but I can see where other schools might have some issues with the lack of coverage...
  2. Hmmmm...overrated? Would that be in post-district? It would have to be because IN DISTRICT...what is our record again...Oh yes...ALL WINS=NO LOSSES. That's not overrated boo... That's doing what you do and that is playing Mustang football. ;)Now, you run along and play now...
  3. Nice. Great defensive plays!!! I really felt for #55 who got his lights knocked out (well, at least his helmet knocked OFF). Thank goodness there was no injury. Go BRONCOS...represent SE TEXAS!!!
  4. From the score last week, Lake Travis' defense doesn't appear extremely strong...that was high scoring affair. I don't know what the score will be, but Dayton should pull this one out. Kudos to Dayton because it says something when a team loses its starting QB and is able to do as well as they have this season...says alot about a team and coaching staff. Bring it home Dayton...if at all possible, we'll try to be at Kyle Field cheering you on. ;D
  5. Naw...I don't think so!!!
  6. Let me start by first clarifying that NOT EVERYONE SUPPORTS this opinion. Our program, coaches, kids are not perfect by any means, but hell, I am a parent of three boys and I can tell you that I am not either. This loss was just that...a loss. There is not ONE reason or PERSON or PLAYER who can foot the blame. You have to think about the fact that our defense made THREE DEFENSIVE STOPS inside the 2"+ yard line which is great. The downside to that though is that our offense started at those same spots. That's difficult to do. Our OC didn't get us there...great defensive playing got us there. I am tired of hearing the bashing of coaches (not just our OC, but everyone from the bottom until the top, because the playcalling sucked, they don't get these kids scholarships, football gets too much attention and money. Stop it. There are questionable plays all of the time... the only time that it gets mentioned is when we lose. Say these words with me...It's okay to not win. Our Mustangs can make mistakes without it being any one person's fault. For all of those people who believe that the coaches don't get enough kids scholarships...reality check...there is more to getting a scholarship than talent alone. How can anyone expect the coaches to do more than the parents are doing to get them scholarships? How many scholarship applications or SAT applications have you helped a kid fill out and submit? It's about more than just how good they are on the field. As I stated in another thread...whether my boys ever won a game, let alone a championship...these coaches have been their father figure for the last four years (even my youngest who is still in middle school) and not just the football coaches, either. They have taught them how to be respectable, disciplined, goal-setting/goal-seeking young men...how many people can say that? Do you know how many young people that these coaches have guided and provided the same life tools to in the past 20 years, for sure? A LOT! You know what perturbs me...all of the "fans" who leave with 2 to 4 minutes left in the game. Or better yet...how the majority of our fans sit on their behinds until the opposing team's players start waving their arms in an effort to get their fans fired up. It's pitiful and shameful. How many of you stayed and gave an encouraging word, a hug, or just a look that displayed empathy as to how disappointed and hurt they were to have played their final football game as Mustangs? Not enough...I'll tell you that. What are showing these kids? You bellyache about the coaches this and the coaches that...you can't even respect the players enough to stay and see out the entire game, encourage them and let them know that you know they are hurt/sad/disappointed, or cheer until the last second ticks. They are emotional and crying and see only half of the people in the stands that were there while they were winning. You do not dare consider yourself MUSTANG FANS...you are simply MUSTANG SPECTATORS. HINT: KOGT usually broadcasts the playoff games...save your time, energy, and money. Lastly, it would free up a lot of good air that those of us who cheer and yell (from kickoff until the last seconds tick off) need to breathe... Could things have gone differently Friday night...sure they could have. There's just not any one thing that can be blamed. We lost...let's just accept it and move on because WE ARE STILL THE MUSTANGS AND WE STILL PROUD!!!
  7. WO-S: OFFENSE: Poodie (D. Garrett)...don't have particulars, but he did break a 20-year rushing record. ;D DEFENSE: Corey Bell or Cartives Zetar
  8. Or maybe...we need to work harder to find a true kicker. Each 1-2 years, we should be taking a 7th or 8th grader and working with them and molding them to kick...
  9. Uhhhh....that would be a NO! There was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WEAK about our DEFENSE Friday night. Making 3-4 stops inside the 5 yard line and one just inches from the goal-line...nothing weak there. I suppose BH was weak Friday too, huh....about 2 or 3 weeks ago...
  10. Amen to that!!!! ;D ;D
  11. Will any of them be on the news or are they too far away?
  12. I think that our defense was definitely the highlight of the game...there is not much more that they could have done. How many stops did they make inside the 10-yard line? (More than most defenses I have seen at any level.) We just got beat...
  13. I have wondered the same thing..... ??? ??? ??? ???
  14. I am NEVER ashamed to be a MUSTANG FAN, but that being said...I don't agree with how some of the fans act. I will not even call them "Mustang fans" because fans back their TEAM 100% win, lose, or draw. They don't leave before the game is over, they don't sit down quietly until the other team or their own players are trying to get everyone up and yelling, they don't make excuses and they don't bash players or coaches. Could some things have been better...yes...much could, but this loss can not be laid at any one player/coach's feet because the MUSTANGS are a team...they win as a team and they lose as a team. Don't talk about our kicker because he has done the best he could and noone can ask for more. I totally agree with the post about all the coaches in the stands. They know OH-SO-MUCH...whatever. It's so easy from where we sit...IF YOU WANT TO BE A COACH...DO WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A COACH. As I see it, most of the people who complain and make excuses aren't much of fans...
  15. WHERE AND WHEN? ;D
  16. To the Mustangs...especially the seniors...Hold your heads high because you accomplished SO MUCH this year. You had a RB (POODIE) who broke a 20-year rushing record and he couldn't have done it without the other 10 Mustangs on the field doing their jobs. I know tonight hurts, but you proved many wrong this year. We got beat tonight...plain and simple. The second half was just off. To the Mustang chaingang...I don't know of anything that you could have done better. It's not everyday that you see 4th down and what an inch or two and a defense be able to hold it and take over on downs. You guys played an awesome game. As far as our kicking game, yes it needs work, but #11...you did a pretty good job considering you probably never thought that you would be handling the kicks. To any young middle school kids reading this...practice kicking field goals NOW...we'll need you in a few years. To the seniors...cherish this year, but know that this is just a stepping stone. So many of you have so much more to do, get to work. I can't wait to see next year's team and see some of you play at the next level. Lastly, what can one say...you are great group of young Mustangs, but more than that...you are pretty good young men too. Thanks (from this single parent) to the coaches who have filled a void for my own three boys, but more importantly...to the many vulnerable young men who come to you and dedicate themselves to Mustang football. If we never win a game, what you have contributed to these young men is something extraordinary and something that can never be repaid. You have done what so many others didn't/wouldn't even attempt to do. A heartfelt thanks... :'( Oh-so-proud-to-be-a-MUSTANG and a MUSTANG MOM!!! 8) :'( 8)
  17. First of all...Congrats Dayton...way to hang in there!!! I don't know who you guys play next week, but I know a few Mustangs who are going to try and make it to support you guys. Keep it classy and on the "W" side...again...CONGRATS and beat whoever you play next week. 8)
  18. Mustangs by a margin of more than ZERO!!! ;D WOS92...the censored thing is actually quite entertaining...plus, it gives the poster the power to censor what he feels that someone who might be offended might censor... :D :D :D :D
  19. Just curious as to why BOTH BACKS (who are also brothers) were out at the same time until the same time? Just a little coincidental... ???
  20. I just can't make myself do it...besides...pics of players in a locker room, c'mon...need something better than that. But, please don't waste your time because I would rather wait until tomorrow and see them in action...good luck!!!
  21. Dude...are you like one of those pervs who can't get on the site(s) that you REALLY want to surf because you'll be traced and your true identity revealed... If not, here in SE Texas, we have Workforce...you know, where you can search for jobs because you have toooo much time on your hands!!! ;D
  22. Hey, seriously. Will the game be broadcast on cable? :-\
  23. Hey....Einstein...check the tape and make sure that someone didn't switch the TRUE WO-S MUSTANGS with the L'IL MUSTANGS...while they are both pretty good, the offenses/defenses probably differ some!!!
  24. I would have to say that Poodie has not gotten your's or anyone else's message from la vega because if he had...you would have his answer. Don't be surprised if he doesn't print your idiotic posts from our threads and present them to someone representing la vega at the game... As for this game, I have not seen any tape on la vega. I don't need to because the Mustangs are going to play Mustang football regardless of who we play and the advantage that they will have over la vega and their BIG-OLE-LINE...it's called STAMINA...trust me...conditioning is not achieved in a week...
  25. Whooooaaaa...you are so correct when you said that no one KNEW (not new) for sure brock would not play...the point is...WO-S beat the GIDDINGS TEAM. I would soooo gladly put your record vs. us in my stats, but unfortunately, I don't keep up with stats...just what's happening in the here and now!!! We could make up dozens of excuses of why we are 1-0 versus wimb...but you guys just beat us...NO EXCUSES! I think that that is how it works around here, anyway... :-*
