  1. Stangs 92...I couldn't agree with you more. Losing hurts, especially if you are not used to losing!!
  2. WOW...way to go Mustangs!!! You did what we should have done last year. I really hate that fitzhenry didn't get in the game, but regardless...I think that we would have been the winner. You showed MUCH heart against the former #1 3A team in the state...you made mistakes, but this is a classic example of the team who made fewer mistakes came out on top. Noone can ask for more!!! Way to coaches for coaching a good game. Congrats players!!! See you next week.
  3. Yep...for like...almost seven years now? I think that the technical term would be an extended hibernation! ;D ;D
  4. They should be. Steroid-abuse = cheating, but worse than that...it has the potential to wreak havoc on the body. I am not happy that the testing did not begin this season, but not surprised. In fact, I think that teams in the playoffs should be required to test their players. My one concern with the testing is will it emulate the "random" drug tests that schools currently perform because if so, it will not do much good. I have two friends...one who was drug-free and the school knew that she was a safe bet for a drug test was drug-tested (10) times her sophomore year. The other's daughter has been drug-tested in junior high (3-4) times and the only extracurricular activity she is involved in is poetry, but another safe bet. Who decides WHO will be "randomly" tested? What local teams are in favor of testing?
  5. Well, that would be a first... ;D ;D
  6. LaMarque does deserve the respect that they have earned...we know how you feel! 8) I can tell you that we respect your football achievements because when you can do what you do year end and year out (for the most part), then you obviously have something that most do not. As for Lumberton, while I wish you the best...there is a way to be confident/excited about your team and its achievements this year without being so cocky. I hope that your kids are like ours...just ready to hit the field and focused and not affected by the "hype". Good luck to both teams and hoping for a clean, injury-free game.
  7. C'mon Dayton....beat the Stingrays. Good luck!
  8. While I agree with S-Ville's post, I also agree with tam2121... First and foremost, I thank God for his graciousness in allowing me the life he has given me, I thank God for my beautiful children, and I thank God for this country. In saying that, to every Veteran, current soldier, and family/friends of either...thank you because unfortunately...freedom is not free. You have given something to every person living in America (citizens or not) that can never be repaid--the right to be free. For that, we are eternally grateful. To all traveling this holiday season...may the Lord be with you to and from your destinations.
  9. Honestly...it seems that Giddings is more worried about fitzhenry playing that what the Mustangs are. Our coaches are going to prepare for GIDDINGS as a team as if their whole team is complete (which they are...). I think that he may have been hurt, but I question if it is as serious as it is... Most people (especially the players) hope that he plays. I just think it's amusing how it's soooooo hush-hush....are we in the pros yet? ;D
  10. I dunno....................................... ???
  11. Neither WO-S nor any other team from our area gets any respect over there. I used to go there every once in a while, but haven't been in probably over a year. I look for the Mustangs to win. If our defense is on point (probable) and our offense adjusts like they have almost every (if not every) game this season...MUSTANGS live to play another game...my money is on the Mustangs... ;D
  12. The Mustangs need to just play MUSTANG FOOTBALL and just let Giddings play "their game"... We should prepare for the buffs like they are last year's team...why would you not do that? If they are as good, better, or not as good as last year...the MUSTANGS will be ready for whatever shows up to play on Friday. (And no, I am not being overly confident...just being real...) Either we'll be ready or we won't... I happen to believe that we will be...
  13. I totally agree with you on that one. Great athletes need great coaches...you're only as strong as the weakest link.As for the familiarity...we're seeing alot of kids from 7th grade to 12 grade whose fathers were on one/both of the '86-'87 State Championship Teams and the '88 State Finalist Team. I think that pretty much anywhere you go, you are going to see kids of athletes who played 18+ years ago...
  14. I concur. The Mustangs will pull this one out, but it won't be by much...1 point...just 1 point...
  15. Sweetie...I don't make excuses on this board or anywhere else...must have me confused with someone else. I certainly hope that he plays Friday because then it will just be a battle of two teams...the better team should win.
  16. Perhaps, there is not as much as hype because the QB from Giddings is supposed to be injured. ??? I think that the WO-S/Giddings game will be a good one!!! There are several good ones this week though. Hopefully, after all the dust settles, SE Texas will still be represented by all of their teams... ;D
  17. Dave who.....Jasper is going to take this one. Good luck 'Dawgs and Coach Brooks!!! Let's represent 21-3A and SE Texas well...at least try to gain a little respect from everywhere else in Texas!!!
  18. Although I agree, his future after high school should have been complete by now. I mean, he was blessed enough to have gotten to the playoffs before he got hurt and petitioned to play another year. I'm wondering...how would they tally yards and stuff for records since the average high school player only gets four years to play? No disrespect intended by my question...I really want to know. And, I do hope that Fitzhenry is okay.
  19. Amen to that. With or without old brock...the Mustangs will do what it takes! It might be a closer game (DUH!!! :) but regardless, the Mustangs will grind this one out. This late in the season and your QB is ejected for fighting...DISCIPLINE seems lacking...DISCIPLINE is a must and something that WO-S possesses...it just might be what wins the game!!! As far as the passing game, I think that if we are forced to use it, we'll be okay. We have some decent receivers who have had a little practice. Seems that Hypo isn't overthrowing them any more. ;D
  20. Does anyone know why their backup QB was ejected? This is really the time to work extra hard to keep your cool...remember that Mustangs (plus, Coach T....'nuff said)! WO-S takes this one.
  21. Well, I think that regardless if brock plays or not...WO-S will pull out a "W". Sure, it might be a little easier if he is hurt, but I will believe that he is hurt on Friday night when I don't see him on the field. If he is hurt, I hope that it isn't bad because he petitioned to play this season when he should have gone to college...either way...our Mustangs will do what they have been doing...adjusting to each team (usually at halftime) and if it is a win by +1 or +99...a win is a win.
