No, silly rabbit...because they only played one game when there was anything painted on it. If the coaches thought that it was disrespectful...it wouldn't happen again and after all of this belly-aching and whining...I would just assume that they not do it next season. The sad thing is that these same people complaining about this this year will ultimately find something else that the Mustangs do that is disrespectful...so, so, so sad. -

If this did happen, the coach should not be CUSSING them. There is a better way to handle these types of situations and I know that they were probably aggravated, but vent that anger appropriately. I think that people make an issue about what they want to make issues about because they are upset about the loss or the season's outcome or because they are looking for the slightest little reason to make the opposing team seem like they have poor sportsmanship. Maybe that's why WO-S isn't easily offended because we just focus on FOOTBALL and don't LOOK for rather petty reasons to complain about our competition. ??? Where was that coach during that ridiculously long half-time...they're never around when you REALLY need them. And, where are all of these "know-all-the-rules" people who are so quick to post rules about everything else... Believe it or not, rules do apply to everyone and it's not a shock that they get broken...I just expected something copy and pasted straight from the UIL rule book. -

Giddings is Division 2. The team that needed to win for them to go Division 1 didn't win. That's ok though because if we meet them...only one of two things will happen... 8) After the game next week, I'll talk about it... ;D -

Someone made the comment that it would have never happened that way had the game been competitive...they wouldn't have delayed it like they did...it was just kind of rude... : -

First, I will say...Congrats Mustangs on a GREAT season and to almost all of the Cardinals for playing the entire game...you showed some heart tonight... The Cardinals have dropped off this year (for whatever the reason), but I have to admit that I was disappointed with a couple of things tonight. In the first half, their coach is going for it on 4th and whatever on their own 30 yard line...what's up with that? Second, why is BC's QB allowed to take himself out of the game off and on this season and still be the starter? At half time, he walked off with his left arm clutched to his chest with a coach, but pulled himself out for a high pulse. The backup quarterback should have been played more. Third, since all of these smart folks on here know the UIL rules so well....exactly what is the rule on how much time is alloted at half-time? I was informed at the game that there was a limit...obviously that was extended...don't you think? Now, don't get me wrong...the seniors deserve recognition...but, do it when everyone else does it...before the game...that was a little ridiculous, but your cheerleaders were having a good time dancing and carrying on in the endzone and looking back to see if they had gotten the players' attentions... ;D I have to say...the parents and kids working for Project Graduation on the Mustangs' side...were so very pleasant. If they are earning points...the powers-that-be should give them double because they sold ALOT of split-the-pot tickets and were...CLASSY!!! -
Everyone from WO-S would appreciate if you would refer to our football team as the WEST ORANGE-STARK MUSTANGS...because that is WHO we are. It's really a shame that we can not support our team with being hammered by you guys...you are making the references, assumptions, and everything else that goes along with what you do. Do you guys get treated like this during baseball season? I really hope not. Just a friendly reminder...WE ARE THE MUSTANGS AND WE ARE PROUD!!!! (You may actually get to hear it tonight if you listen closely!!!)

While I believe that the Mustangs will win this game....I was telling my good friend from BC last night at the 7th and 8th grade games...any team can win a game on any given day. I would expect a little more support from you, Mr. Cardinal Supporter... This may be taken wrong, but WO-S does not need to play their 3rd string for the majority of the game or even half of the game. We start playoffs next year and there are things that our "not a powerhouse" football team needs to work on...this is the time to do it because after this...it's time to play, not practice. When/If the Mustangs gain control of the game...we need to really work on our passing game. I know that there will no doubt be some belly-aching after the game, but this is not about BC...this about WO-S preparing for the playoffs in game situations.

Well, I voted for both propositions, but I am not surprised at the outcome nor is it the end of the world. It will not affect how the Mustangs function on or off of the field. In fact, maybe it will inspire them to do what so many do not...give back. It happens...look at Inspire12...simply amazing!!! My oldest son graduated in May. I was co-chairman of Project Graduation and was extremely disappointed in some of the businesses that did not donate at all or minimally...don't get me wrong...beggars can't be choosers, but what is fair is fair. If you have a child in the school district (especially at the high school level)...look around and ask...who in the community supports this school district? It will amaze you. Sure, individuals decide on who and how much to give to what school, but what they need to realize is that there are people from opposing school districts that do business with those individuals' businesses. I have just decided that if I know that a business does not support the Mustangs...they will not get my business=money. I understand that these individuals may have family members elsewhere and therefore, they may give a little more generously...but, fairness is deserved because their businesses are successful, in part, to the business that WO-S supporters choose to give them. While I agree that most of the businesses who donated to LCM's big screen have individuals in positions of decision-making from their district...I have yet to figure out why Orange Savings Bank was a major contributor to it, yet...looking around Dan R. Hooks' stadium...I have yet to spot even a banner. Perhaps I overlooked it, but I have looked for it for about (6) games now. If I am not mistaken, WOCCISD uses Orange Savings' Bank for the district...and we can't even get a banner? There are several reasons that this bond did not pass, not just one. Obvious is that there needs to be more voter turn-out...not for a win or lose, but because many people have fought and died to ensure that we are afforded that right. That being said...there are many reasons for low voter turnout. There needs to be a movement to get people registered to vote, educate them on what is being voted on and when it is being voted on, and make sure that people have a means of transportation to get to the polls. There are variety of reasons that people don't vote and I think that it is extremely narrow-minded and wrong to say that they just don't care. I have tried to think what kinds of endorsements I saw or heard for either of these proposals to pass. Whoever said that everyone is looking for a handout...I totally agree, but far beyond the level that you are speaking of, I am sure. Sure, most people look at the "usual suspects" (I'll leave that for you to decide who falls in that category), but take a deeper look...corporate America and people of wealth look for the same handouts that the "usual suspects" look for...call them tax breaks, tax cuts, tax credits...the list (I am sure) goes on... REALITY CHECK...the people from WO-S who wanted Proposition 2 to pass aren't wanting/expecting something for nothing. They just feel that it would have been nice to have something nice headed their way. As the mother of Mustangs/Stallion...they do deserve alot. They will continue to succeed, regardless of whether they are playing on turf or grass... Unlike a lot of school districts, the Mustangs are not defined by money and material things...it is a way of life and it's pride in something that is sooooo much deeper than many outsideers can or are willing to understand. There is not a price tag that could be put on it...so, we will continue to do great things and hopefully enhance some of the issues that need our attention, but in the meantime...WE ARE THE MUSTANGS AND WE ARE PROUD!!!

Seems some : are on a war path. You know...I was threatened with being banned for a week for a post that I didn't even post by someone who obviously had a chip on his shoulder....I hope you are watching........... Of course...it would seem that noone other than the "chosen ones" know everything. Hey, BC's 8th grade beat WO-S' 8th grade....looks like that's one less game that everyone has to dig up forfeiture rules for, since BC won!!!

No need in worrying about that because Coach T is not going to LET anyone score points.

Wow...how coincidental........ :

Disrespectful or No Big Deal?
stang4life replied to Jasperdog94's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Simply unbelievable is the fact that most of us are saying....WO-S MEETS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD. They DON'T INTENTIONALLY JUMP UP AND DOWN TO DISRESPECT THEIR OPPOSING TEAM. Perhaps, they are feeling a little left out because their own field doesn't have anything in the middle of the field. Tell me this, if they WALKED to the middle of the field and STOOD there...would it be disrespectful? What if they prayed there? I don't think that the kids realize the SPORTSMANSHIP-LESS part of it because we (at WO-S) just don't get worked up about it. Of course, maybe we (at WO-S) just don't worry about it because the logo is not there... Since this is obviously such a TOUCHY subject...we'll have to bring this concern up to the coaches. I just don't think that it is disrespectful unless someone is soo in tuned to finding it disrespectful. Maybe I can suggest too, that next year when Jasper comes to WO-S...we'll paint some type of logo/mascot/(maybe even a group pic of the team) on the middle of the field and you guys can run, jump, do whatever floats your boat...and then...we'll see who really cares. This whole issue is what you (as an individual) make it or want to see...basically, an opinion. I truly RESPECT your opinion about it being a RESPECT/DISRESPECT issue, but I can't see where you are RESPECTING any of our opposing opinions. Some things just matter more to some people than other things, but I can tell you that in no way would ANY of the WO-S COACHES allow the Mustangs to DISRESPECT anyone (including themselves). -

Actually, I thought that I stated very clearly in my first little section that I had soooo many single posts because I was reading the ENTIRE thread and responding as I went along (I can actually read quite fast...and type). As far as arrogance...not a word that describes me nor MOST Mustangs/fans/community. It was actually "meant" to be sarcastic, but I really have noticed that this thread "appears" directed towards the Mustangs. I think that most people that DON'T have an issue with it are confident in their abilities (from the players' aspects) to take care of their business on the field. They don't worry about the little things. ;D Look...the Mustangs don't care WHERE they do the "jump on the PILE (not the emblem)" ritual...because they are just jumping on the pile. Read into what you want...but, that is what it is. Honestly, I cringe when they do it because I worry that someone will get hurt, not that they are offending someone. -
Don't "give her the sign"...in the words of Jeff Foxworthy. OUCH!

Wow...it takes an entire day to read this thread. Sorry for the previous three single replies to the threads, but I was reading and interjecting my opinion as I felt the need to. I got to thinking....WO-S doesn't even have anything on the middle of their field (except for the homecoming game)...maybe people are mad because they can't run and jump on our "emblem" or whatever it is called. I can call and see if Mrs. Cormier and them can repaint it on the field for anyone who wishes to "jump up and down and 'disrespect'" our emblem..... ??? ??? Quite honestly, I don't believe that the Mustang players do this to "disrespect" anyone... In fact, sometimes I think that the entire purpose is to have a gathering place to see which of the players will be the first to gain an injury in the melee'. It would suit me fine if the Mustangs NEVER ran out, gathered, and jumped ON EACH OTHER on another opponents' emblem or whatever the heck it's called ever again. Thank goodness, this little menial act of getting pumped up before the game is ALL they do...I mean, no needles or basically anything else illegal. Has this subject been brought up before now? How about by anyone from Jasper? It is going to be OK...you guys are rebuilding and by next year or the next year...this might all be silly to you. Maybe WO-S doesn't see it as disrespectful because we don't tend to take alot to heart. We are blessed to be fans of a great football program that is centered around DISCIPLINE...if people have to take aim at the little stuff to attempt to chip away at our program...I say...go for it. I personally would appreciate some forthrightness because it perturbs me when people HINT around at what their true feelings. If you feel that WO-S or anyone else disrespected your school...put your big girl/boy panties/boxers/briefs on and STATE THAT. Hope my little pic doesn't disrespect anyone because I have grown quite fond of it (just because I have been unsuccessful at finding one with a Mustang chasing a bobcat or cardinal). ;D You know what I have noticed...most of the people that have posted that they think it is disrespectful have lost to the Mustangs. Just kind of weird...woooooooooo!!! -

Take those last two sentences and "allow" everyone the same respect. It is obviously for anyone to think that anything is ok, but it looks to me that "yall" are not the only ones bashing. ??? -

If the coaches saw an issue with it or wanted it controlled...Hooks and T wouldn't let it happen. I think that it is what you see it as...I personally don't usually see any disrespect being intended, but to keep down the confusion...I could easily agree with the home team being allowed to do it and visiting team just going to the endzone or the sideline. I am surprised that people aren't complaining about that (going to the endzone)........it seems that the littlest things.......never mind. -

I recall that. Totally uncalled for, but not a big surprise either. -
Actually, my baby son was out there playing. Most of these kids either don't have game systems or they just love football. They would rather physically play the game of football. The only thing that concerns me is that some of these kids are on JV, freshman, and some are in the Middle School...injuries. It's kind of weird because you can go almost anywhere where there is a population of kids and you'll see them out there...doing what...playing football. Kind of reminds you of Friday Night Lights!!!
