  1. Just wanted to give a shout out to wildcat baseball team and let them know how excited we are for the team. Coach Sloan has pushed all the right buttons so far and the kids have responded with a 15-4 record, 6-1 thru first round of district. A 20 win season is a definite possibility. They took their lumps against Huffman, but who hasnt? I am not sure but I think you have to go back quite a ways to find a 20 win season, if its been done at all. Good job guys.
  2. I dont think I ever put down a kid for playing "Daddy Ball". Believe me when I say I even think "Daddy Ball" has some advantages, especially when it comes to playing at the next level. I also understand That "Daddy's" only want the best for little Johnny. No I am not a coach, nor do I have a son. So I dont have a dog in the fight! It comes from a "bystander" who has seen both sides. It comes from a bystander who has seen what $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and the desire for "FAME" can do. Everyone has already seen what it has done to basketball. I dont even know why kids play HS basketball anymore. Sometimes its more than just about "me", ya know. Sorry I ruffled so many feathers. geeeesh. Sadly, I can actually see a day where the topic of this thread may be true. :(
  3. For IDK Select Ball, Summer Ball, Year Round Ball, Super Select, Elite- Call it what you want, its still "Daddy Ball". There are some darn fine baseball coaches, even at the 1A and 2A levels in this state and they are not all hired as "Football" coaches. I dont know where that misconception comes from. Ever thought there just might be some "baseball" guys out there that happen to coach "football". Believe me, they exist. Too often, coaches are tagged with a "label" they do not deserve. What the average person fails to see is that these coaches, even before they have stepped on a field for a Tuesday afternoon baseball game, have already given 6 lessons over JFK and the Cold War to over 150 students. Just because that man is not asking the parents to pay 500-1000 $ per kid (or more in some cases) to play for him, does not mean he does not know the game. And most have played baseball beyond their HS years as well! You my friend are disillusioned. And by the way I loved your comment about "The coaches you see are not really that good". Really? Well who died and made you the super duper 4A and below baseball coach master evaluator. Do you even know any of these coaches or does your "select" team just borrow the fields they take care of all year during the summer. Yea, thats what I thought. Keep yellin Daddy! he he
  4. Congrats to Brian Robison (Splendora High School '02, University of Texas '07) on his new 14.1 Million Dollar contract with the Vikings. The Vikes also threw in a 6.5 million dollar signing bonus.
  5. Typical Doc comment. You are still "stirring that pot" aren't you? Somehow I get this image of you sitting back there in that closet of an office with your feet up, dressed in the "finest apparel", grin on your face, trying to navigate through the world wide web . Am I not right with that image?? Tell me I'm wrong and I'll call ya a liar. Don't your boss have somethin' for you to do?? Hope ya have a great day!!
  6. Listen here Mr. Basketball01, Obviously you are a disgruntled dad or mom or whatever. To say that Jason Vela was outcoached is absolutely the most ludicrous statement that has been posted to this website since NEVER........What is this supposed "subjective" look that he supposedly had that kept the wildcats out of the playoffs?? You are pathetic and I can see you now, leaning over the rail at every athletic event with your pack of Marlboro's rolled up in your sleeve thinking you are the greatest gift to basketball since John Wooden. Jason Vela has done a wonderful job at Splendora with what he has had, and that aint much. His kids play harder and work as hard as ANY team in the state of Texas. In his young career, he has taken an average at best team to the playoffs for 3 consecutive years. Before, the school had been twice in its history. How dare you question this man's devotion to HIS PROFESSION. I know Jason both personally and professionally. Some of you people live in an absolute "VACUUM" and cant see past your noses. Good luck with the "Daddyball game" on Saturday!
  7. 50 pre game short sleeve under armour shirts (black)- $1800.00 50 under armour (black) helmet visors- $1000.00 2 (black) charter buses to the playoff game- $1500.00 Seeing your opponents eyes after they have been beaten by a school who has "powder blue" as a school color, PRICELESS!!
  8. Just use your "Lumberton Raider" Visa card with the locomotive logo on the front. It does not have a limit but the "interest" is a killer!!
  9. you got it, "Lumberton players and their Cribs". Gonna have to fork over $39.99 for this one fellas!
  10. I think Lumberton takes this one easy. It's all Lumberton all the time!!
  11. Luke is a pretty sharp fellow. Always has the "down low" on 22 AAA.
  12. Might not have had the score right but the spread was DEAD ON! Congrats to the tribe for getting win #1. The mayor must have been dealin' last night!!
  13. Unbelievable. I cant believe you subscribe to the "If so and so team won by sos and so points, then they should beat so and so team by so and so points" THEORY of football predictions. Dayton newspaper huh? Nuff said!
  14. District Champions??? After one game??? hummm? Interesting viewpoint panther 09. I like C-Town in this one. They will play Liberty very tough and come away with a 42-36 OT victory. Good luck Cleveland. Liberty is hurtin'!!!!
  15. Diboll is 4 real. Should go 2 or 3 rounds in playoffs. They do play some defense this year. Hats off to the Jacks!
