  1. I was told by one of the WOS coaches that James Haynes has been offerred by the University of Florida this past week! James will also be attending The University of Texas Junior Day on the 28th. Congrats to all our local talent!!
  2. For a school that doesn't care about anything but football WOS has done things NOBODY has done in the area!! In 2005 our football team won Region III, in 2006 our boys basketball team won Region III, and in 2007 our boys track team won Region III. I will admit since dropping down to 3A our baseball team has not produced much at all. On the girls end of it our girls basketball team played in the Region III final game in 2005 & 2007, also winning two district titles in those years! Our Softball team has been to the playoffs the last three years and went a few rounds last year. Our girls track team has sent members to the regional meet for many straight years. Don't get me wrong our football team is 45 - 5 over the last four years, but what other school has won three different regional titles in a three year span!! Pardon me for asking but what has Silsbee and Evadale EVER done????????????? Jealousy is eating you guys up! being from HJ, with our STATE championship a couple of years back in basketball, i can assure you that i personally am not jealous in the least of your regional championships. [/quot Bullets I don't think Mustangfan was directing the jealousy statement to you, and I don't see how being successful in one sport is comparable to being successful to three sports. I do know that some people on here are always taking shots at our overall athletic program and have know idea what they are talking about. Yes even though is good to win a state championship, an overall athletic program is measured by the success of the overall sports. We have been pretty successful over the past several years and have gotten nothing but ridiculed by some people on here! I do believe people like AggiesAreWe always take shots at the stangs and that gets old. We can compare Silsbee and WOS over the last 5 years or 10 years or 20 years and I believe the Stangs can keep up and then some in there overall athletic program!!
  3. True, this is the football forum. Are you saying that this thread is about football? Oh, and no nerve struck here. I can take it as much as I can dish it out, not like some WOS people I know. ;D No, I am not saying this topic is just about football, but since this is a FOOTBALL FORUM I just didn't think anyone would think basketball on this forum! I will be more specific for you next time, but I think everyone else got it!
  4. Didn't know we were giving out personal information on here, but I guess I struck a nerve! I was talking about football, since we are on the FOOTBALL FORUM!!
  5. Some of our kids in Silsbee actually live more than 10 miles from the school(Caney Head), they manage. I wish our we did things like silsbee! I mean silsbee does everything much better than everybody else around! Hey, I got a joke for yall! How do you an aggie moderator to cry? Make him watch ANOTHER heartbraking loss for silsbee against those WOS MUSTANGS!
  6. Lets see why would a school teacher in Houston care about our transportation issue? Well anyway atleast your not one of those very out of touch with reality and very USELESS board members! I don't think that anyone argues that WOS is one of the few schools that gets bussed from activities, but we are saying that this is a need here and has been a need for some time! Whose fault is it that these kids aren't prepared to take these tests? How many times have some of these campuses been unacceptable? What personnel changes have been made at these unacceptable campuses? Who is held accountable? What is going on here has very little to do with anything else but a few childlike board members with personal issues with certain people in the district and they are using what LITTLE power they have to get back at these people! wosUTRICEalum, It does bother me that you don't think a parent should be concerned about the safety of their child and only the education. Lets see here you call yourself wosUTRICEalum, I think one of our board members is a UT and RICE alum! I will say this wosUTRICEalum I do think that you should be thankful that you are teaching in Houston and not one of those Pathetic people that call themselves caring about the future of our kids and district! Lets see isn't it the duty of a board member to keep the district out of debt? How did WOS get to be all the sudden get in 2.8 million dollars of debt? Who is responsible for that? Who is being held accountable? You can't blame everything on the kids or Coach Hooks! As a matter of fact if Coach Hooks would have only won 30% of his games like some of WOS schools passing 30% of the TAKS, then he would be fired! Who is held accountable by these genius board members? wosUTRICEalum just remember this, what happens in the dark will come to the light!
  7. wos87, if you don't mind me asking, why did your siblings switch to mlc?
  8. Griff I gotta disagree with you on the amount of people living in Orange being the cause. In 1986 there was over 2,000 students at WOS H.S., and there is currently under 700. Do you mean to tell me that in the last 22 years almost 70% of the people have vacated the WOS school district. There is no way!! It has to do with the leadership in the district and mainly the leadership at certain campuses!! I would NEVER let my child go to the WOS H.S. solely based on that reason!! If you want to know why the enrollment is dropping the quality of leadership definately comes into play with MANY people in this town. It is truly is ashame to because I attended WOS and it used to be a quality school, maybe the most quality around!! I ran into one of my old h.s. teachers at Wal Mart a few weeks back and she was telling me how poor that the leadership was and why she had left. It is truly ashame for whatever reason some people get jobs and keep them for all the wrong reasons!!
  9. I also think that Alto has one of the largest margins of victory over the last two years of anyone else I can recall.
  10. I am very impressed with the numbers newton has put up. I never would have suspected such high scoring from them. I am also confident that the Mustangs scoring will pick back up this year from what it was the in 2004,2005, and 2006. Good Luck Mustangs!!
  11. This young man has grown up to be a good role model, but that reflects directly from the family and program that he comes from. Always good to see a former mustang in the positive spotlight.
  12. I thought we were hosting a 7on7 Tournament?
  13. Don't know, but I saw him over the summer and he seemed to be enjoying his retirement. The Foreman's are good people and have been very successful coaches.
  14. I just spoke with a coach at WOS and they confirmed that Toby Foreman will be back at WOS. He has been coming to some of the practices already. Congrats to Toby!! You will DEFINATELY make us better. I know my son is VERY excited. I guess that old saying is true, THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!
