He did say it was a BOLD prediction.

I beg to differ. With all of the young players on the roster and contributing, I think next year when Custer, Moton, Harris and Williams are seniors, Miles, Harper and Carter are juniors, and the incomming freshman have a year under their belt, the expectations for Roc and Company to deliver will be much higher. This year LU and Roc will get a pass as long as we see the young guns improving.

OK So Vidor went to the playoffs once in ten years. Still in the bottom two! That is the problem with some folks from Vidor, being competitive is good enough. Just because they give teams a run for their money each week doesn't make them a middle tier program. I will admit that in the past two seasons Vidor has been better than LCM and Ozen, but I am talking long haul since Mathews arrived.

We have an 8 team district and four of the teams make the playoffs each year. How many times has Vidor made the playoffs? Break down of the district the past 10 years (not sure how long Jeff has been there?) excluding Dayton and Livingston because they have been in and out. Upper tier (2) Nederland - Multiple playoffs, several DC's Central - Multiple Playoffs several DC's Middle tier (3) PNG - Several playoffs and A DC Lumberton - 2 playoffs and 2 DC's Ozen - Several Playoffs (not sure about DC's). Bottom Tier (2) Vidor - No Playoffs, No DC's LCM - No Playoffs, No DC's Like it or not Vidor is a bottom tier program. This year may be different, but as of today, the facts speak for themselves. And those bottom tier programs play cupcake non-ditrict schedules (scrimmages don't count). GO FIGURE.

They beat Crush Collins 4-3 (with several of thier top players playing for the LL team). What about the scrimage against Young Guns (9-1 Loss)? Again I am not knocking the BC LL team (I think they are a great group (my daughter playes select with one of them and she is a great kid and exceptional ball player).

You should have watched a few games before matthews got here. at least they are competitive and have the ability to win any and all games. i look for them to do even better this year. This we agree upon. I am sure Mathews has his flaws as a coach, but he has stepped it up at Vidor. Which says alot about how bad the program was since they are still considered a bottom tier team in the district (current season excluded).

Well I happen to know for a fact that that 12U LL team got it handed to them against a local 12U team that didn't have all of their players Mr. or Mrs. Sensitivity. Also that LL team was comprised of girls from BC and other local towns. Again it's called an opinion! Besides isn't it against LL rules to scrimage durring the LL playoffs? Be careful what you say on a public MB.

How about Muandumba (if paperwork is in order) or the two young men from Pflugerville? Also Carter who was here last year as transfer is a big sturdy looking reserve for inside. Really, if everyone stays healthy they should be better than last season. Yeah, I left some off. I was just stating the guys I knew were in the fold.

What new QB will have the most impact?
badndn replied to SgtRey's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hunter is not a "New" QB. : maybe not, but the bears are pretty much starting over this year Everybody is starting over! And the question was "What NEW QB will have the most impact?" meaning what QB that has not taken snaps for his team before will have the greatest impact on his team. Some young QB's will have little impact because they will be asked to do very little. Some will be asked to take on the weight of the team. -
LCM doesn't have a little pre-district schedule. Texas City, Silsbee scrimmage, WOS, and even cleveland. Go look at the past 10 years. Outside of WOS (which is only scheduled because of the crosstown rivalry), who has LCM played in real games, not scrimmages? By the way Cleveland is not a tuff schedule!

I agree. It is great for Nederland in this case, but they had the talent from 1-9 to do it. Remember this was a combination of the past two HS teams that went to the State Title game and the quarters. Not every town has that type of talent all the time and Nederland may not in the future. BC would probably struggle as would most smaller towns. Don't forget that when you get to this level you are playing against teams with hand picked top talent from much larger metro areas. By the way this is just one mans opinion!

I think Kendrick Harris is listed at 6'1" as is Miles. This team should be much bigger. PG 6'1" Harris 6'0 Miles SG 6'4" Moton SF 6'6" Hall 6'5" Harper PF 6'6" Nabors 6'7" Brown C 6'10" Custer 6'8" Nwevo

PNG/ BH GAME WILL BE SHOWN SAT. AT NOON CH. 15!!
badndn replied to FOOTBALLFEVER99's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yeah, but they can't get there without going around the school. Maybe that is a strategic move for this year. Have them run a mile in full pads to get to a from the locker room. Then hit deep on the first play! -

Hunter is not a "New" QB. : -
The one high school coach you would want to coach your team?

Randy Allen has won alot of games with Highland Park. It is hard to argue with the success of Dan Ray given the fact that he has won from 5A-3A with the same program. -

Because of the change in the offense at PNG I will say that Doty will have the most impact on any team with a new QB. But Reggie Garrett at WOS could be the determining factor in a State Tilte run for the ponies. -
He is a big kid and does have some speed for his size, but not 4.5. Maybe 4.7. Thats fast for a kid 6'4" and over 200 bills.

"Does playing Kelly, St. Thomas, and Hardin Jefferson get you ready for the big dogs in the district?" History says...NO! I would expect if Vidor was going to step down to play a 3A it would at least be WOS or Silsbee. And playing Kelly which amounts to a 2A enrollment is weeeeek. St. Thomas is not much better. Who are the top four teams each year in local 4A? Ned Central Lum PNG Now go look at who they play or have played pre-district. WB, Friendswood, Lamarque, Brehnam, Tx City, Crosby, PAM, Ball, Waller, BHill, all quality 4A or even 5A playoff programs and when they have dropped down and played 3A schools they played the top 3A's in the area in WOS and Silsbee. By contrast go look at who Vidor and LCM play each year!
