  1. No kidding! Can a Mod please lock this thing up and throw it out. It is not SETXSports material it's PNG Board material.
  2. My NDNs are off this week so I figure I will ride on over to Nederland to check 'em out, but whoa they are in FWood Friday...So I thought alright I will go check out the new look LCM Battlin Bears (our next opponent). Dang they are in Cleveland...Well then I will go see how XBox and his staff are doing with them mighty mighty Titans from down south, but again out of town (and on Saturday). So I look around the SETX HS football landscape to find that the only game south of I-10 this week is in Orangefield. Everyone else is either off or playing out of town. Crazy!
  3. PNG's record last year at this point was 3-0. But go back and look, most PNG fans felt like this team was in for a tuff road. There was not much optimism in PN or G last year even after a 3-0 start. That was a 3-0 start that included a couple of come from behind victories one of which the NDNs were outplayed (Crosby) and one against a bad Barbers Hill team. Plus a win against maybe the worst 4A team in the state last year. Barbers Hill is much, much better than last year (ask Lumberton) they will be in the playoffs. Crosby looks like crap so far I give you that one. TC is not the TC of old that dominated region III, but they have beaten 5A Alvin and gave perinial power Lamar Consolidated all they could handle. I think you will find that as the season goes on those wins where bigger than you thought. I love it how everyone expected PNG to get blown out by TC, but after beating them and shutting them down offensively, they are know a nobody. :
  4. Grad, don't give in to the BS. Keep doing what you guys are doing. It's just a Poll of local writers and fans. It means absolutely nothing, but fun food for thought in the grand scheme. Unless we go to a BCS system for Ditrict titles, then what difference does it make how they vote? : Keep up the good work SETXSports Mods!
  5. Is that PAM's JV B team against WOS JV or PAM's JV A team?
  6. Yeah that's it. Just a new coach. No other changes . I sure hope Mathews prepares for the same PNG team and schemes that they faced last year. You forget that PNG was the easiest team in the district to prepare for. Very, Very, Very predictable. If you ask anyone that has seen them play this year they will tell you that is not the case anymore. Used to be that if they changed formations they ran the same play out of that formation every time. Now they change formations on each play and will run multiple plays out of each formation. Also different from last year is an attitude! You guys in Vidor can attest to that. What has changed in Vidor from past years...Attitude. Good Luck against Central next week. Central will be Vidors first real game of the year! If Vidor stomps on Central like they did the TAPS league then they will get the respect they feel they deserve.
  7. When does WOS JV play PNG JV? They may be playing our JV B team. They have been looking for games as had PAMs JV B team.
  8. Considering the team that beat you guys for the title last year is undefeated and only ranked 6th, I would doubt that KVille will get back into the top 10 this regular season with the 2 losses.
  9. Wouldn't take you up on it! I agree. The great thing is that its because the district is very good top to bottom and not the opposite.
  10. Not if we win the district or at least finish ahead of Lumberton. If those four make it, it would be enrollment wise: Central Vidor PNG Lumberton Meaning whoever finishes ahead out of PNG and Lum gets the to DII spot and should stay away from Dayton. Would love a Lumberton Dayton rematch in round one!
  11. Yes, I did want Stump over Haynes and still would today, but I am very happy with Faircloth and was not the least bit upset when he got the job. Admitidly didn't know much about him before the hire.
  12. Credit for what? Beating the crap out of three inferior opponents? Vidor is a good football team, but I still say they are about to find out why you need to be tested pre-district. I think Vidor will finish with three district losses, but they will be the 4th team in at 4-3 and as long as they are not D2 against Dayton will serve them well for a round or two in the playoffs. Centrals strength is there defense and speed. Too much for Vidor to handle. PNG gets Vidor at the Reservation and the PNG defense proved this week against Texas City that they are tough to run against. Lumberton I think is just better than Vidor and will find a way to win. I think three of the four teams from our district could have three or four round runs this year (the odd man may be whoever gets Dayton in bi-district).
  13. This guy thought his coach Larry Haynes at Hardin should be the front runner for the PNG job. The guy is a good regular season coach, but not what PNG was after. So far the Faircloth hire has been a big plus. He has brought a new enthusiasm to PN and G. He has instilled a very good work ethic in his teams (from MS on up) both on and off the field. And to top it all off his teams are winning. Even if this team doesn't make the playoffs this year, most of the PNG faithfull will be happy with the hire because of the program he is building. There is a buzz at the Reservation that has been missing for a while.
  14. Because this guy is Beards brother or something to that effect.
  15. We all know Lumberton, Nederland and PNG will pack the house, so the fan support at the district games should be FANtastic this season. Should make for some rockin' stadiums. Can't wait. Damn BYE Week! >
  16. And to add to this..... alot of the boys on our JV team this year will be joining the Juniors who are on the varsity team this year next year. And to add..... these boys will all have a good solid year under Faircloths system. This will be a very dangerous team next year to contend with. This years team is great and next years will be great too !!!! Doty is a Junior this year, several of the linemen are Juniors this year on Varsity and the JV line is HUGH as well. The JV running back is a powerful and very fast, quick runner. They also have some tall receivers ! Looks good all around. The Freshmen this year are not doing so well, but I've seen vast improvement in their 3 games. They will be good too real soon. They have some good size as well and one heck of a running back. One thing I realized today...The JV and Varsity kids all got to go through Spring drills and practices with coach Faircloth. They learned the new system early and were laid down the expectations before August. They are combined 6 wins and 0 losses. The Freshman did not get to go through Spring ball and are all new to the Faircloth system. And it shows. If this is not a testiment to spring practice?
  17. PNG JV is 3-0 outscoring opponents 97-14 so far. Same Freshman group that went undefeated last year.
  18. You keep telling yourselves that! Good Luck
  19. Again Marshall and Willowridge probably elected to stay in 5A.
  20. And why again does the trash talking have to stop? It will be a very interesting seven weeks indeed. ;D
  21. You have the option to play up. It might be a money thing. All the 3A schools are way outside of town, thus the travel costs would be significant. HISD don't spend any money!
  22. Yes #12 also blocked the 4th quarter FG attempt. He was lined up offsides on each attempt. One of the kicks was right down the line from where we sit and we were screaming "he's off sides" before the snap. I just wonder what the official on the line (who has one job pre-snap) was looking at? #12 also played WR and on several plays in that last drive (where PNG was flagged several times) he was turned pointing to the PNG sidelines taunting them. But that was not flagged. As far us getting the ball to Deron, he was double covered most of the night. Even the pass he dropped he had double coverage but that ball was thrown beautifully. Our downfall was not being able to get ourselves out of our endzone to begin the second half. It's hard to throw the ball from back there at the HS level. Good win though. I love the fire from the Indians and the coaching staff. And it is obvious that this team will be well prepaired for each opponent. Can't wait for two weeks!
  23. The Alamodome didn't give up 69 points! ;D
  24. So why the suit?
