  1. That’s misleading. Against Houston teams, they gave up next to nothing and most of what they did give up was late with backups in. Against better comp, they were an average D, but they scored alot. Quick score offenses usually do give up fair share on defense, but a 56-35 W is just as good as a 21-7 W!
  2. I hear ya, but I guarantee you those same folks saying “this is just HS Football” would be calling for the Head Coach to be fired if Huffman wasn’t winning!
  3. And Marshall Mavericks won’t beat Huntsville. I predict a 35-21 Hornets W.
  4. Concerned that our WR’s will get no separation from Marshall DBs and we all know our wounded O Line can’t hold a block long enough for any QB to dance around waiting for 3rd and 4th options to come open.
  5. Silsbee and WOS may be the most battle tested 4 loss 4A teams in Texas. Looks like it’s paying off. Silsbee losses: 10-2 PNG (5A still playing), 11-0 Newton (3A still playing), 10-2 Nederland (5A just out), 8-4 WOS (4A still playing) WOS losses: 10-2 Nederland (5A just out), 11-0 Newton (3A still playing), 12-0 Jasper (4A still playing), 6-4 Crosby (5A before they lost Howard). Congras to both.
  6. These two high powered offenses go at it on the turf in Baytown (Stallworth Stadium) next Friday night at 7:30. Battle of blue chip QBs. FB Marshall will have the most tallent PNG has faced since the Manvel team from 5/6 years ago. Could this be another last team with the ball wins like PNG/Crosby circa 2017? Can PNG slow down the track team the Buffs will put on the field? Will the PNG O Line give Shug time to find the open man as the Buffs secondary will no doubt close the gaps quicker than anyone PNG has faced to date? #1 seeds prevail in Region 3 each in convincing fashion.
  7. Lindale was scrappy. Smallest O and D Lines we’ve seen in a while, but they both got after it. We wore them down some second half. Made some good adjustments at half to stop the run. Lindale did a great job on the two drives after trick play of keeping RJ and company off the field with long sustained drives on the ground. Once PNG adjusted it was over. Good job by the staff and players.
  8. I was NOT impressed with Manvel. Not the same team from last year or years past. Even though I picked H’Ville, I’m with Frodo I expected a close game. Hornet Defense is legit!!! I’m second guessing my FB Marshall vs A&M Cons. Pick’em.
  9. PNG Defense giving up 24 per on year and in the last four games all versus playoff teams giving up 12 ppg. Any word on #31 Barber. I know he left game Friday night. Good CB. Outside of possibly him the D should be healthy. Now the O, thats a different story. Deslatte is out again. PNG misses him in backfield. Takes some of the load off of Shug. Noticed 79 Burt still out and I know 74 Garth out for year.
  10. Which is why I went with Marshall in my pick’ems. That said Nederland’s only loss came at the hands of a PNG team thats 9-1 on the field with it’s QB in the game and that one L for PNG was to a very underated Huntsville defensive power. I expect a good game at 4 tomorrow, but I’m pickin Marshall and will be there rooting for the Dogs.
  11. vs 0.500 or better teams Nederland 5-1 Marshall 4-2 Pretty even.
  12. vs 0.500 or better teams (on field) PNG 4-2 Lindale 1-4
  13. 1. North Shore 2. Houston Strake Jesuit 3. New Caney 4. Huntsville 5. Marshall 6. Fort Bend Marshall 7. PNG 8. Henderson 9. Carthage 10. WOS 11. Sillsbee 12. Giddings 13. Jasper 14. East Chambers 15. Cameron Yoe 16. Woodville 17. Franklin 18. Newton 19. Corrigan-Camden 20. San Augustine 21. Evadale 22. Grapeland 23. Muenster 24. Shiner St. Paul 25. Splendora Like this
  14. Don’t get me wrong, it could be another shootout for PNG. Seen our boys come out on top a lot in those games, but CS ended PNG seasons last two years in shootout s. Proud of the effort the PNG defense has given against the playoff teams this year in the last 4 games (Santa Fe, BHill, Nederland and Northside). We’re essentially in round 5 of playoffs when you factor in our end of season schedule.
  15. Just looking at the defensive numbers for Lindale tells me they are not Nederland comparably. Dogs defense outside our game was stout. Lindale, much like PNG before the defense got it going, won a lot of shootouts.
  16. He’s actually 8-2 this year. He didn’t play in loss to Tomball.
  17. We were not up 40 at the time. It was in the second quarter. 21-0. Subs played most of the second half (midway through 3rd Q on).
  18. Same. Congrats. Looking forward to the double at NRG. Plus Manvel vs Huntsville at noon.
  19. So you’ve seen three games in three years where the defense couldn’t stop him on ground and you make an assessment. Go watch video and ask others about his arm strength. Ask BH about the 50 yard rope to Ceja on the run or the 30 yard pass right while rolling left. Ask Crosby if the kid can sling it? He will be a QB at UT and a game changer. And Go Dogs
  20. Best team in R3 top to bottom. Gonna be a tough out.
  21. Huntsville has the best D in Region 3. They don’t throw the ball all that well so thry may struggle taking advantage of Manvels secondary. Could be a 7-6 final in this one.
  22. It actually could be the best 1st round matchup in Region 3. FBW has speed and size. They may be the best 3 seed in our Region. Read option QB could give Nederland fits. I suspect had we lost last week we’d be in a shootout versus FBW ourselves. I’m rooting for them Dogs. I want one of those second round double headers at NRG.
  23. PNG played Tomball without Shug (QB). Took a 21-0 lead then blew it. Tomball came back and got the W. Bought all I can say.
  24. Got one that wouldn’t surprise me. But Imma stay low key on it cause I don’t wanna see it happen.
