Turf fields pay for themselves over time.  Water, mowing, paint, maintenance, etc...That's including a practice field.  Because with a turf field...you don't need a practice field.  Plus the money you spend on man hours doing those necessary jobs.  Plus the fact that turf fields are weather resistant...isn't there more rainfall in this area of the state than anywhere?  Just saying.
Plus the potential for extra money (hosting playoff games).  Silsbee would be an ideal venue due to the size of the school plus location.  I don't know of very many coaches searching the state for a grass field to play a game on.

I'm sorry...but it's more about ignorance than anything.  If taxpayers knew the amount of money they would eventually save, every high school would have a turf field.

SETX can be very proud of recent accomplishments. However, why stop there? Why not try to improve on previous success?
What's wrong with upgrading facilities? I'm sure there is some cost/benefit ratio to installing turf rather than trying to maintain  a grass field? That goes for the school house, technology in the classroom, updated busses, etc...
If SETX schools are experiencing "success" with the current state of facilities/schools/etc, imagine what they could be with improvements across the board!

That's what I've been saying from day 1.  Upgrades go WAY beyond new athletic facilities.

Nobody is saying that this wasn't a great year (football) for SETX.  WOS for one should be very proud of what was accomplished.  But I'm not going to pretend that the previous 10 years should be wiped away.  Can it continue?  Yet to be seen.  But I'm still believing that as a whole, this area does play second fiddle due to being behind the times.  Like I said though...I'm seeing more and more glimpses of trying to catch up all the time.  And it goes further than just facilities.
You're right though...I thought Celina was going to win that game.  I was wrong.  I think the outcome would've been closer if not for the injury...but not enough to overcome the speed of WOS.  Definitely wasn't a good matchup for Celina.
So funny to me that so many people on this site assume I'm just an outright SETX hater.  I'm just trying to provide an answer to a question.  Why does SETX have so much individual talent, yet so few state titles? (recently)  You guys just don't like the answer I give...not my problem some people can't face reality.

Those coaches have the appropriate CDL to drive them, and if Woodville is like most small districts anyone with a CDL and passenger endorsement gets plenty of practice driving.
They really are designed to keep students inside in case of a rollover.  Thankfully, this bus had the smaller window, and not the large windows I have been seeing a lot on school buses these days.
Scary to see those windows popped out like that.  Must have been quite the impact.  Amazingly the buses maintain it's shape pretty well.

I doubt it would do any good.  Doesn't seem that any admin on here has ever admitted that anything I say has any merit.
I'll just go back to being the community jerk...and continue infuriating people for saying what no one else will.
    have a good day.

I wouldn't go to a hospital in Beaumont to ask directions to a different city's hospital.  They should put a funeral home in the parking lot of their hospitals.

Going off what teams have coming back and what I saw from the previous season, my feeble mind predicts the following going into Week 11:
Vidor (2-5) vs PA Memorial (7-0): PAM plays their Freshman 2nd string while resting their bellcows heading into the playoffs. Vidor laments the day that Port Arthur dropped to 5A.
Port Neches-Groves (6-1) vs Nederland (6-1): Both w/ Losses to PAM, battle for 2nd in District. Larry and BF secretly agree to play the 2s in the second half to see what they have coming "next season" so the old timers can drink coffee and debate games from the 1950s about which school is better. A mysterious 8th grade kicker puts it though the uprights for the win. Venues, dates and times for playoff opponents were made well in advance of Mid County Madness.
Lee (1-6) vs Central (4-3): Central gets into the playoffs with a 5th win, Foreman waves his towel around getting the Jaguar faithful pumped for a Bi-District game at the Butch.
Livingston (0-7) vs Ozen (3-4): Ozen finishes district play @ 4-4 and misses the playoffs due to losses at the hands of PAM, PNG, Nederland and Central. They can care less because it's basketball season, and Livingston's punishment for submitting false numbers is finally at a close.
Lumberton (3-5) Bye: Coach knows how to roll out the balls for basketball tryouts.

Kinda feels like you don't care what the old administration did as long as they were black.  So who's wrong here?  As for a couple of your previous posts... My wife has taught at a BISD elementary school for 7 years, and her room has been above capacity EVERY year, including the years before the BOM took over.  To address another of your comments, the fact that most of the principals are still in place means that the BOM has kept the principals who DID NOT STEAL OR CHEAT in their places, so I don't think you need to worry about racial discrimination in the administration.  I also teach in the district, and my white principal just retired, and is about to be replaced by an African American.  My wife's African American principal is retiring at the end of the year, and her replacement is African American.  Again, not seeing discrimination there.  As for the racial makeup of the board and the superintendent, I could care less, as long as they're not stealing my tax dollars and have the kids' best interest at heart.  I wanted nothing more than for Chargois to succeed, but he was just Thomas part 2.  So that being said, we now have a super who's doing the right thing with the district, and a BOM that is cleaning house.  That needed to be done.  I'm really not understanding how with a straight face you can say that changes weren't needed in the first place.
