Critter got a reaction from wo-s#1 in 22-4A Standings
taking nothing from what WOS has now, but they had a really good pitching and a really good coach at that time. It's a young team that is rebuilding and should be fine i the future

Can't imagine Coach Landry letting this happen. He knows how Bridge City baseball is under a microscope.

BS and Evadale have excellent ball players no doubt... and they have hit homeruns off quality teams .... but there is a major drop off .... just go look at the scores 18-0 17-0 15-0 etc. very seldom does quality pitching give up that many runs, that often. Field size cant debate never been to any of the fields. But stick those two teams in 4A 5A district and the numbers are cut in half if not more... Now don't get me wrong the above avg players will still get theirs.. but not like it is now.... JS

Never mind, it was corrected to 10-2 BC.

Critter reacted to MJB in Bridge City at Hardin-Jefferson/Post updates here!
HJ didn't want to play without one of their best players from what I was told. Player was ejected from the Lumberton game and had to serve a 1 game suspension and they wanted him for the BC game. Can't see how the field was wet but for sure there were playable fields, it all comes down to pushing it so BC would be taxed this week on pitching having to face LCM and HJ back to back. Also letting their player serve his suspension vs West Orange and rest an arm.
BC came out and put up 4 quick, they were ready to play tonight and that set the tone. HJ even had the ump warn the BC dugout to tone it down but HJ was relentless during their at bats vs Havard. Didn't seem to phase him striking out 10 tonight.
Big crowd tonight and lots of media there as well.

Critter reacted to dfreeman in Playoffs
I think baseball needs to change the way they do the playoffs. Stop the coin flips where 1 team can win the flip and play 1 game, and another team can win it and choose a best of 3. Everyone should be required to play the same format. I personally think best of 3 is the way to go.

Critter reacted to Chester86 in Playoffs
My boys played everything, and we were always lucky enough to make the playoffs in everything - every year. My question is, what playoffs do you look most forward to?
Football was fun because it was getting cooler. There is always a ton of community support, but i’d say football playoffs were on the bottom of my list.
Basketball was exciting. It’s fast-paced, and fun to watch. Basketball was always big in Evadale, and I still remember our playoff games when I played at Chester. Fun - yes, but still not my favorite.
America’s pastime is baseball. My boy played baseball year-round, and he was in tourneys during both the sports listed above. When you make the playoffs in football and basketball the venues are not that exciting. Baseball though was another story. You get the playoff series, not just one game. We always played in great venues, and in my opinion - baseball playoffs are the best!!
Well, there ya go. What are your thoughts? Playoffs are here before you know it. If you still have kids playing - ENJOY IT! That time of your life, and that season is one that flies by. Best of luck to all our teams battling for playoff spots.

Thank you WOSgrad and I would greatly appreciate it you guys/gals. I actually was going to ask this here in a few minutes after a meeting. I've been doing the Home-run thread for about 6 years now and love giving all the kids on this list some props for these accomplishments. Maybe, we can start a thread about field dimensions and school sizes. once again, I would appreciate keeping this thread going with HR's for our young men.
Thanks, Critter (Craig Isaacs)

Folks, I don't mean to speak for Critter and I am sure he will correct if I am wrong, but I believe that he meant this thread to be for informational purposes only.
While I welcome the debate that has been occurring and is a reasonable topic for discussion, it may be better placed in a thread of its own.

Critter reacted to Football 101 in 2019 Homeruns....... Varsity only please
I think these comments are comical about small school players hitting homeruns only because some of you think , the fields are smaller seriously? Lol and because of the quality of pitching! It’s not always easy slowing down fast hands to hit slow pitching! And your obviously not familiar with the players hitting all these homeruns! Cause they could come to your big schools and compete very easily! They have actually hit homeruns off of bigger schools and play with that type of competition in the summer .

If we are talking about Big Sandy lets remember these stats from this year in the Homerun discussion... They've hit 2 against Nederland, 2 against HJ, 1 vs. BC, and 1 vs. Blanco. Now for me I feel that these are some of the top schools in our area with some much better than average pitching. Just my two cents.
Thanks,
Critter (Craig Isaacs)

Yeah, Silsbee is down a little bit. Other than the BC losses we have lost three district games by a combined four runs, still losses, but all where winnable games. We got some players coming back from injury that’s starting to settle in. So if being down means we are still competitive in district and having a chance of winning a game at the end I think we going to be alright.

The big Evadale / Big Sandy rivalry is this week. Monday in Evadale and Friday in downtown Dallardsville. These are always competitive games with LOTS of community support. Both have had successful district campaigns thus far. If you’re bored and want to see two teams lay it all out on the line this would be a great series to catch.

Very little correlation to the level of baseball and number of homeruns. If that were the case then the leader in NCAA homeruns each year would play division III baseball.

Have to say these two teams will be in the playoffs. Good game by both teams. Although each team played the umpires throughout the game they both played until the end. Never seen these umpires before and hopefully never again.

Two good teams had to battle a lot more than each other in this one... I'm just gonna leave it at that.....
